I use Nero for burning and have found it good. Been using it for years. When I try to use it to compile a DVD video from the EditDroid ANH files (ie, I tell Nero it's a DVD video and put all the files in the VIDEO_TS directory) it refusus to burn the image to DVD-R.

It tells me that it can be burned to DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-RW, but not DVD-R for some reason. It asks me to either change the content insome way so that it will burn to DVD-R or to insert a compatable disk. It I put in a DVD+R, it burns to that with no problems.

While this isn't the end of the world (as I have a Pioneer 107 dual format burner and still have some DVD+Rs from my last batch) I'd like to burn all my stuff to the nice Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs I bought recently.

How do I change the disk so that it'll burn to DVD-R?

The jacket_p folder and cdrom content should be in the root of the disk alongside the Video and audio _ts folders

That's a bad thing? I would hate for him to have to explain everything in the movie or it would be over crouded.

Does that mean I've got to go out and buy or rent the clone wars cartoons to understand what's happening in the movies?

If that's the case then BOLLOCKS to lucas he's an even bigger asshole than I gave him credit for.

They've both received the same treatment, so your point is moot.

"also talking about resolution differences on dvd is irrelevent because this is always dependent on what type of display your viewing the video on."

Funny that you didn't mention these details to begin with. I guess your statement should read "changing ld ripped video to anamorphic will degrade picture detail and sharpness [dependending] on what type of display your viewing the video on.."?

detail and resolution are not the same i can have a video of a black and white chequer board and convert it to 1024x768 but it would still be a bunch of black and white squares, no extra detail.

Time
I thought the dvd cut is what speilberg wanted as the final cut of the movie I got mine from the far east (silver) but here are the differences that I can remember;

1 ship is still in desert
2 daughter scene watching tv when dreyfuss wakes up is gone
3 robbing neighbours rubbish is gone
4 diving on wifes car is gone
5 new town hall meeting scene
6 internal mothership is gone

that's most of them that I can remember

As far as fffffff being the 47th person to ask whether it will be DVD5 or DVD9, I already explained in the most simple terms capable of using to illustrate the problem why additional video bitrate has no affect on it whatsoever. If you don't want to understand why it doesn't make a difference then at the very least you have to believe me when I say it DOES. NOT. MATTER.

Correct, as the old computer saying goes garbage in - garbage out.

I'm sorry, but I must say this... screw this forum, and screw the entertainment industry

I agree about lord of the rings it could have been better, (too much altering of the plot just to get Tylers face into as many scenes as possible for my liking). I went to the cinema to see FOTR and didn't bother with the rest I just watched them on dvd (copies) and thought they got steadily worse. (hmm reminds me of another franchise). Ah well in about another 30 years someone else might attempt to make a faithful movie or tv series of these great books, we can only hope.

Star Wars - The Edits and DVDr releases thread

I've mentioned it in its own thread, and on the Torrents thread, but it possibly bears mentioning here too - the first version (1.0 only) of my XP77 (Experience '77) edit is up.

The nature of this edit - and I'll do a little more work with it for the next (XP77:5EB.0) version - is that it builds on a previous edit, the Mysterious Mysteries edit, by using a patched version of an audio track reflecting the 1977 1.0 mono mix.

The final version will have the subtitles remuxed in (they are missing from the 4EB.1 version) and also contain the 1977 2.0 stereo mix.

I do not have any better video sources at this time but would like to redo it as an Anamorphic version, with better picture quality.

Moll.

Do you have first generation copies of the mono and stereo mixes? If so what are they (WAV,DD,etc)?
