watched all 4 they've shown on C4 in uk, shows promise. I just hope the twists and turns aren't going to be as obvious as they've been hinted at so far.

This site was created before the OT came out on DVD, so as far as GL is concerned he has given us the original trilogy and wouldn't understand why this site still exists. So from that POV the original mission is dead in the water I'm afraid.

The whole point of this web site is to give people info of how to obtain/or create the best possible quality backup of their cherished vhs and laserdisk copies which will wear out eventually at little or no expense to them, no more no less.

That link above implies that the directors never intended for the full frame movie to be shown. But they must have been released with the directors consent. Stanley Kubrick allegedly prefered his movies in full frame and I'm sure I once read that Cameron actually preferred the full frame T2 to the 2:35:1 edit.

OK when Cameron filmed T2 he used Super35 film stock which is a high quality 16:9 format. So why has this HD version not unmatted the full screen? see below for examples;

The 2004 one does I agree, but marry the OOT with the PT and rotj still holds up well even with the plot holes created by GL's bad directing and script writing on the PT.

I suppose that is what happens when you have a guy who thinks he can do something competently and is surrounded by a bunch of arse lickers that are too spineless to tell him otherwise.

Yep, thats what concerns me. They'll probably move the goalposts in about 2 or 3 years and up the screen resolution so that people can watch Hi Def xvid or Wmv at super high defintion on their Xbox's and PS3's.

The 768 screens could actually scale down 16:9 HD pictures with a slight border at the top and bottom just like 4:3 tv's with letterboxing. Or they might be using weird pixel sizes that are elongated so more pixels in the vertical axis or perhaps they're not exactly 16:9 screens.

The standard for pc TFT screens above 17" is now 1280x1024 at 4:3 ratio so work out what the proper resolution for 16:9 is from that (720 by my calculation)

OK anyone having this purple line prob you need to play your dvd's with this software (properties page below);

It still has a very slight line but not as smeared as in mplayer or VLC and no horrible blurry filters

I can't for the life of me remember where I got this software from, it might be the standard one with windows 2000/XP

OK after looking at this closer it seems to be either a side effect of directx or the mpeg2 codecs. I can see this line in mplayer classic and VLC, but open the same vob in vdub and no purple line! It's got to be some crappy filter thats being used by these progs. As a side note it isn't just PAL disks that are effected. My aotc disk is ntsc and it also produces this line in anything but vdub. I did make one observation which is weird, if you do a screen cap while in media player and paste it into a paint program the line has gone!!

Citizen,

Have you ever thought of making hi def xvids of the fullscreen OOT somehow pasted onto the widescreen version the middle 40 to 50% would have a lot more detail. I know this could be a real nightmare with the pan & scan but what do you think?
