Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Time
So, I was looking for my Christmas mp3s cuz it's getting close to the season and all. Well, I couldn't find them. It then occured to me that I must have lost them when my hard drive failed last May. So, if anyone has the following two songs, I'd really appreciate if you would send them to me.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Carol Of The Bells
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Revenge Of The Sugar Plum Fairy

Thank you.

[Edit]
I found the files under different names. You can close the thread if you want. Thanks.

My Lightsaber Duels project - from Episodes 1-6

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, the chapters points are placed at the beginning of each lightsaber duel, so yes, some of them are pretty long chapters.

PSYCHO_DAYV, if you want to smooth over the audio, be my guest. I knew the music was where it made it obvious where the cuts were, but I'm not an audio guy, so I didn't even try to mess with it. Side note: I'm going to be moving for my job just after New Years, so I won't have much time to work on this stuff for a while.

I agree, the shutdown command will work... depending on how locked down the operating system is. If I remember correctly, there's a setting in the Local Computer Policy that can restrict everyone (even Admins) from using that command. My network at work is locked down like that (it has to be if you want to pass a certain government agency's inspection). I use my code to remotely shutdown/reboot/log off computers on my network from a web interface. This will work if a certain port on the computer isn't blocked (snmp, I think. We're not allowed to have host based firewalls).

And yes, you can exec an external command from almost any programming language.

Good Simple Engine to make 3D Fighting Games

I don't think this is exactly what you are looking for, but the people at GarageGames have modified the Tribes 2 engine to to lots of cool stuff.

4 years ago, me and my college senior capstone buddies made a game with that engine that did some cool stuff with generating terrain using mp3s. If you're interested, here's our Final Report. Email me at the address in my profile if you'd like to play the game (it's only a 11.8 meg file that I can send you).

A. Yes, it is possible.

B. I haven't seen a VB6 implementation, but I do have VBScript and C# implementations for it at work. (The C# one would be very easy to rewrite in VB.NET.) They both use the Windows Management Inteface, the Win32Shutdown command in particular.

With the way you're talking about it, I'd use the VBScript version because in Windows, you can specify a logon script that runs before the desktop gets loaded, i.e. right after the user logs on. I haven't done any GUI stuff in VBScript, but I can give you the functional code.

If you go with VB6 or .NET, you'll have to rely on a start up entry in the Registry or the Startup group under All Programs. GUIs for those are easy (and you can capture when they click on the X).

If you want the code, send me an e-mail at the address in my profile. I won't be in to work until Monday (I'm at a mind-numbing class right now), so I'll get it to you as soon as I can.

My Lightsaber Duels project - from Episodes 1-6

No problem PSYCHO_DAYV.

Here's how I'll handle it. Anyone who wants a copy, send me a PM with your name and mailing address. If there's more requests than I can handle, I can either try to get it posted somewhere or we can do the "pass it forward" method that dark_jedi used with his great releases.

The only thing I ask is that you guys post here to say what you think of the disc. It's the first DVD I've authored, so if you're going to criticize, lean towards the contructive kind, please.

bwlag already has a disc and I'll be getting a disc to skyjedi2005 soon. PSYCHO_DAYV, your disc is already burned, I just need a place to send it.

Once again, I don't have any cover or disc art for it.

Thanks for the interest.

My Lightsaber Duels project - from Episodes 1-6
Time

So, now that the ROTS DVD will be out soon, I’ll be able to complete my pet project.

What I’ve done is take the lightsaber duels from the official DVDs and cut them in such a way that we’re always watching the duel action. For example, in TPM I cut the shot in the final duel where little Anakin says “Artoo, we’ve got to help them!”. Essentially, I’ve cut them the way I’d want to watch the fights.

In the prequel trilogy, I cut out most of the inner-duel talking/whining. However, I left most of the talking in the original trilogy because those are just as much emotional battles as they are sword fights.

I’ve already cut episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, & 6 from the official DVDs and and all that’s left is ROTS. I’ve also already made my menus, so it all should be good to go in a couple weeks.

I know this sounds sorta like Segaflip’s Lightsaber Montage, so I don’t know how much interest there would be for this. I’ve shown a “beta” version of this to some of my friends and they like it. I mainly made this for me (years ago, I even did this with two VCRs and the VHS SE tapes), but if there is any interest, I’ll be happy to provide copies and/or have someone post it on the net. Also, if there is interest, would somebody please make cover and disc art? I’m awful at that sort of thing.

Thanks.

Yeah, cato, you're doing better.

My three cents:
1. If the front is going to be silver, make the spine silver. Or both blue. I'm just a fan of consistency.
2. The "For superior sound and picture quality" line at the bottom of the front cover almost looks like it's cut off. Might want to move it up a little so there's a bit of a silver border.
3. The text on the back cover looks like it's running into the spine. The "d" on "instructed", especially. This seems to be fixed in Sluggo's edit.

In regards to Cassidy's #3: if you look closely, Cato's back cover says Fullscreen with 4:3 underneath it, and then to the right, it has 2.35:1... twice. Seems a bit contradictory to me.

@cato: Maybe I'm a bit lazy, but I hate having to scroll right to see the whole picture. It'd be nice if you'd post smaller files. (I currently have my monitor set to 1024x768, best resolution on my monitor.) Thanks.
