Devil’s advocate: it’s a silly sign, but it’s also supposed to be a joke. And, like most jokes, there’s some truth behind the intent. Which is to say, obviously women have far more rights than guns (don’t think anyone doesn’t literally think that), what they’re trying to say is that they wish protecting women’s rights were as important to politicians as protecting “gun’s rights” (preventing gun control).

I still don’t agree with the premise that women’s rights are under attack in the United States.

Looks like over 3 million women disagree with you, and since they’re women, I trust they know the issue more than you do.

Well, 60,000,000 people disagree with you on Donald Trump. See how that’s not a convincing argument?

Yes, but I can acknowledge that some people agree with Trump.

Split - 7/10

Decent flick, but my enjoyment was significantly dampened by the crowd. 8 people got kicked out, including a guy who was getting blown, and the girl who was blowing him.

Some friends of mine got a babysitter to see Split (which they never do), left about 10 minutes into it because literally everyone else was on their phone. The girl next to them was just watching YouTube. They got their money back and the manager said this is just what happens during movies like this.

I don’t understand why people would spend $12 to do what they were doing on their couch but in public. That’s both a comment on playing with your phone and playing with your boyfriend.

The Wampa looks amazing, Adywan. My apologies if this has already been covered, but do we know specifically which shots will be replaced with the new Wampa? Will the growling closeup of the Wampa be replaced with this one? Because Ady’s version looks to be based pretty closely on that one. Or will only the full body shots of the very different looking Wampas be replaced with this one? In which case, how will it be filmed, exactly? Will it be superimposed on the full body shots, or will it be filmed in snowy backgrounds with a full fur suit?

Again, sorry if this has already been discussed.

All SE shots gone but the arm added to one shot, all the original shots replaced with this mask/puppet.

I hope you enjoy the military marching past the White House to show off our power, probably waving “TRUMP” banners.

I doubt the military will be waving Trump banners. That is not normally what they do.

What is “normal” anymore, Warb? We’ve got a reality star that was the running gag of the 80s & 90s in the White House who’s appointing people to positions apparently to prove how ineffectual the government can be.

I’m going to be very interested to read these posts again in four years.

I still maintain that Trump will not turn out to be the next Hitler nor will he be the great savior. I think when it’s all said and done he will probably be a “meh” president with liberals upset that he wasn’t the catastrophe they rant and rave about and everyone who believed what he said upset that he failed to live up to 95% of his campaign promises.

I more or less agree with regards to Trump himself… I think he’s a bad person, but I doubt we’ll see anything truly groundbreaking one way or the other from him during his time in office (though we will continue to have at least one ridiculous drama or scandal or controversy per day). I’m more interested about his cabinet picks and the Republican-controlled congress.

The right wing has a chance to prove they know what they’re doing with regards to America, and we’ll see if they truly do (or not) in these coming years. They face very little opposition in congress and from the President as well as eventually the supreme court, so it’ll be interesting to see their agendas at (mostly uncontested) work.

Intersting is not the word I would use.

Fascinating. And where were you on the day that President Obama delivered his timeless historic speech?

As if Trump will ever deliver a timeless historic speech.

“Timeless historic speech” will be replaced with “catchphrase”. As in, we’ll all remember when he said “You’re fired” as he pushed The Button to blow Iran off the map.

In honor of President Barack Obama’s very very last day, and hours as President, please share your memory of his greatest speech. You know the one, that one on par with “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!,” “Four score and seven year ago,” “Ask not what your country can do for you…,” “a date which will live in infamy,” and “I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

You all know that speech President Obama gave that made us all shiver in patriotism, share your memories of it. You know where you were at when you heard it, just share.

“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” (1987)

“Four score and seven year ago” (1863)

“Ask not what your country can do for you…” (1961)

“a date which will live in infamy” (1941)

“I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” (2001)

4 of these were during war time (cold and otherwise), one of them from the inauguration of perhaps the most charismatic president ever, the most recent one was 16 years ago and I personally had never heard before. Since Obama didn’t start any wars, he really didn’t need to give “RA RA PATRIOTISM” speeches to justify his actions.

I hope you enjoy the military marching past the White House to show off our power, probably waving “TRUMP” banners.

Machete Order? mmm
Time

I like the idea of the prequels-as-flashback (and actually wrote about it on my site before “Machete Order” was a thing), but I’ve never tried it personally. For a new viewer, I would always go release order, with the prequels as a last resort, so my list would be:

SW, ESB, RotJ, TFA, R1, TPM, AotC, RotS

But probably end up being:

SW, ESB, RotJ, TFA, R1, SW
