I feel like it’s becoming more likely that Trump will have a Republican challenger in 2020. I mean, I think the moment he was elected with the majority of the country hating him this was a possibility, but things have only gotten worse. Of course a lot could change between now and then, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Sasse or Graham run against him.

What numbers are you basing “the majority of the country hating him” on? I haven’t seen any specific polls or graphs or pies that lay this out. Any links?

How about the fact that the majority of the country didn’t vote for him?

And most of the people who did vote for him seem to not support him, they incorrectly assumed that he was the lesser of two evils.

I forgot to mention every Presidential Approval Poll

The Lord of the Rings bonus features chronicle every step of making movies in the early 2000’s and the Hobbit ones show how they’re made in the 2010’s. Both sets are incredible cheap film schools.

Absolutely. I recently had a chance to speak briefly with Mark Ordesky (executive producer on the LOTR trilogy) and I told him how much the films and the bonus docs meant to me growing up. He said that was exactly why Peter Jackson wanted to make them - to inspire kids to want to make movies and to give them everything they needed to know about how a film like this is done.

That’s amazing!

The Death Star trench run

Having iconic and memorable “establishing” shots of diminishing size both moving from left-to-right across the horizontal plane…

…that clearly “established” the trench being the same one, was actually a clever ruse to confuse the audience all these years. It brilliantly fixes the wrong location of the action in the minds of the viewers in 3-demensions, on an almost subliminal level. Well played Lucasfilm, well played.

Like they said in the article, those shots are NOWHERE near each other in the film.

Just timed it, they are 4 minutes apart. The first shot is before they “cut across the surface to try and draw their fire” even.

And IGNORING war, noise, and poverty does not make the country have peace, quiet, and prosperity.

I guess it might for you if you aren’t Muslim. Or gay. Or a woman. Or poor. Or black. Or Latino. Or [insert non-oppressed person here].

THIS

What “this” ? Are people oppressed or do they just feel that way ? Reality vs perception…

Let me give you agander into what my reality is. As a brown skinned mixed man who happens to be bisexual I have been paranoid of someone trying me ever since that prick won. It’s gotten to the point where I’m looking up self defense laws. News stories like the one Frink posted are why I’m looking that shit up. People like you and millions of others can ignore these kind of things because it will never affect you but for people like me the fear is anything but someone’s skewed perception.

And the news article proves this isn’t paranoia. It very well could happen. The current administration distrusts everyone who’s not a straight, white, cis male, and every single thing they’ve done in the last week proves it.

In the same way it’s not paranoia to be constantly worried about being blown up in a terrorist attack because terrorist attacks happen.

Just because people are afraid of planes even though it is statistically unlikely that a plane will crash and kill them, that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be wary that a car accident might kill them and they should take precautions.

You know what sucks about this? Every person whose ever disliked someone does it. They use others as a bar of comparison to disparage the person they don’t like.

I get so tired of these types of “news” articles because they promote the exact opposite of what the country would like to achieve … some peace, quiet, and prosperity for all.

Frink posted a link with no commentary. This IS news, this is the country we live in now. People are feeling entitled to be assholes because they feel their president is an asshole and would applaud them. Which goes back to my comment that Trump needs to get in front of this, and should have as soon as these stories started happening. But no, he’s too focused on contesting the result of an election that HE WON.

Can you imagine would it would have been like if he lost? I guess then he could have called for all the investigations he wanted and no one would have to listen.

And IGNORING war, noise, and poverty does not make the country have peace, quiet, and prosperity.

I was going to say you are starting to sound like Mr. Frevious but lo and behold, he came in on his own.

LOL

That’s unfair, I believe the world will survive his term. America might be a completely different country, but most of the world will survive.

We shouldn’t judge all supporters by the out-layers, but shouldn’t Trump say something condemning these types of actions? If he’s legitimately worried about illegal immigration, he needs to put out a statement pointing out the differences to try to calm down people like this or he is indeed condoning this type of action.

When will suggestions for Return of the Jedi: Revisited be open?

There needs to be two threads.
One is news and updates on progress. No commentary, no whining, no kvetching, no bitching. Updates and that is it. Mods delete with an iron keyboard.
The other thread would be suggestions and comments on released preview clips.

We have the Wordpress for a news-only source.

http://www.newsweek.com/trump-emails-rnc-reince-priebus-white-house-server-548191

Senior Trump administration staffers including Kellyanne Conway, Jared Kushner, Sean Spicer and Steve Bannon have active accounts on a Republican National Committee email system, Newsweek has learned.

The system (rnchq.org) is the same one the George W. Bush administration was accused of using to evade transparency rules after claiming to have “lost” 22 million emails.

Making use of separate political email accounts at the White House is not illegal. In fact, they serve a purpose by allowing staff to divide political conversations (say, arranging for the president to support a congressional re-election campaign) from actual White House work. Commingling politics and state business violates the Hatch Act, which restricts many executive branch employees from engaging in political activity on government time.

But after then-candidate Donald Trump and the Republicans repeatedly called for “locking up” Hillary Clinton for handling government work with a private server while secretary of state, the new White House staff risks repeating the same mistake that dogged the Democrat’s presidential campaign. They also face a security challenge: The RNC email system, according to U.S. intelligence, was hacked during the 2016 race. “They better be careful after making such a huge ruckus over the private email over at the State Department,” says former Bush administration lawyer Richard Painter.

Is this not the exact reason many people claimed to not be voting for Hillary? Am I wrong?

Donald Trump, the man who ran an entire campaign on how Hillary shouldn’t be president because of her private email server now has his very own private email server. But now it’s suddenly okay? Can anyone defend this?

Why am I not even a tiny bit surprised?

How can anyone be happy with how this presidency has been so far? It’s not even about policy anymore, this dickwad has been objectively bad in so many ways. The fact that those on the right will still defend shows how blindly partisan some are.

As far as I know, no-one has stated or found that this private server is in his home. They have to follow the Disclosure Rules set out in 2014 which is something that Hillary Clinton did not do so until something actually happens they are within the Governments own regulations on such matters.

Yeah, they’re just using the same system that “lost” twenty-two million emails during the Bush administration.

I was already aware of this when I made the comment. Since nothing has been “lost” yet, there isn’t much of a story here, LOL.

Yet.

That is also why I used the word yet, because it’s too early in the game, LOL. By the law they get 20 days to copy over each months worth of communications. They haven’t even done their first month in office at this point.

Everything they haven’t deleted, right.

Also, the password resets for the POTUS and PressSec Twitter accounts go to Gmail addresses. That’s pretty great.
