STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

My favorite goof on that site was the arm of the wampa choking the Taun Taun. You can see where the glove ends and the crew member's arm begins. You can also see the top of his head at times. This could easily be fixed by moving the frame just slightly to the right. Why they didn't do that to begin with is beyond my capacity...

I started watching ESB and I was going to take screenshots to make kind of like storyboards on what should be fixed. But I was afraid of missing something (I'm a completionist) so I went to find the nitpicks of ESB online.

Holy Moley.

There are hundreds. I decided to leave storyboarding to the professional.

As for the Yoda puppet, I think this is probably more alive and expressive than the CGI (and PT puppet) efforts made in the PT...whilst the CGI model is technologically superior, there's something about an actor actually reacting to something in front of him that makes the whole atmosphere work. Can you imagine Mark Hamill having to act to nothing as Ewan McGregor did in most of the PT? I'd reckon the whole Dagobah sequence would have come off really badly! I'd leave Yoda free of any cosmetic changes...

Now just quickly back to Jedi and Luke's green lightsaber...Remember, Luke lost his original saber and would have made a new one based on his mentor's one - since he had two mentors, perhaps he modelled the actual hilt on Obi-Wan's and took Yoda's green colour. After all, we don't know that Yoda didn't show him some saber skills during his time on Dagobah...

I was thinking about the Yoda puppet last night. I think that the ESB Yoda is nearly perfect, or perfect enough. The only thing I think needs to be "cantina-ed" is when Luke is running with Yoda on his back and its obviously just a doll. Some movement, especially when he's talking about the dark side would be great.

I might watch ESB today if I have the time and make my own list...

Links to the DVD-5 are here.

If you have the time/patience, I definitely think you should read the thread. I did the other day, and you learn so much about not only how this was done, but I'm impressed how many times "Lucas' spirit" tried to stop this. A couple times Ady lost nearly every file and had to start over again due to computer crashes, he got ill, he got discouraged, but he persevered That's dedication!

EDIT: I just noticed that Sluggo and my DVD covers are on the fanedit.org page. Thanks, whoever does that!

I know Ady said no more Jedi ideas in this thread, but I have had an idea in my mind all day. What if you changed Luke's lightsaber to blue. I know it may sound weird, but think about how cool it will look. Just let me know what you think. It was originally supposed to be blue anyways.

But it wouldn't show up against the sky at the Sarlacc pit, which is why they changed it to green. Besides, if Luke's saber was blue in RotJ, then there would be no precedent for the PT to have green lightsabers, because they would have either been blue or red.

However, Ady could just change all of the green (and purple!) sabers to blue and simplify everything...

If my dad had inherited my granddad's accent, I think I'd have to slap him.
Now Boba is in fact an exact clone rather than a real son, but if my dad can grow up listening to that crazy accent while being chased by a tractor and whatnot for almost 20 years and not inherit it, I think Boba might too.

Especially since Boba's dad died when he was 10. He has plenty of time (at least 25 years) to forge his own accent.

As for changing Jango's accent when he has his helmet on, that is awesome. I will spend the next 8 years working on perfecting an ESB Boba impression just to have that job. I love how Ady said that he's changing the prequels to fit into the OT, not the other way around! I can't wait!

Well i've just finished capturing every change and the total is a whopping 516 shots. I'm going to have to write out each change for each shot cuz you might not even spot some changes. I should have it all ready for you in a couple of days

Just goes to show how much work you did for this that we don't even appreciate yet. This is even better than a commentary, because you can say as much as you want about each frame as opposed to having to talk about something else because the movie kept going while you were telling us about deleting rontos.

Do people think I should circle the tiny little changes (the fly on the camera, shadow on the wall)? Or just leave them like a treasure hunt ("what is he talking about? OH, there!")?

There's actually quite a few more than i first thought. i missed a load when doing the trivia track. its only when i was doing the split screen captures that i noticed a load. I'm up to Ben's death at the moment and i have 149 changes

You win. I have 140 screenshots total, and you haven't even gotten to the parts that I skipped.

Of course, I get this message after I finished formatting every one I had. Now what do I do with them?

EDIT: I put all 140 of my screenshots into my Flickr Set. The new ones aren't labeled yet.

This can't be right.

In watching some scenes frame by frame to get just the right shot to compare, I ran across something that I can't believe I've never heard before.

Here are 4 frames from Greedo shooting first:

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/4616/hanshootstwicedg8.jpg

Do my eyes deceive me or does it look like Han shoots twice? The first shot goes right through Greedo! Is one of his shots left over from 97, or even 77?

Just in case your wondering, this shot of the film isn't even in Revisited to compare.

I should be able to help out if you give me a couple of days. I can quite easily do split screen snaphots in my video editing program so it would take a lot less time. I'll send them to you, with descriptions, once they're done. Nice idea by the way. well done.

Nice covers too. just had a look at ANH. I wonder if anyone has a higher res scan of the outer logo part that is from the action figure cards. i think that would really benefit the covers because the scan you have looks a bit blurry. apart from that they look great

Thanks for your help! I don't want you to have to go through too much of the movie, so I think I can do most of the rest. It's the Death Star battle that really worries me. It's been so long since I watched the original that I can't tell what's new, what's changed, what's the same, or what the comparison shots should be. I'm just going by your commentary for most of the changes. Can you get me a screencap of your new gun removal from the DS control room, as opposed to the addition in my DVD-5. Was there anything else you changed for the DVD-9 that I would need?

As for the cover, I used the blank found at the Forgotten Force Ultimate Resource Guide, which was only 800 x 1200 px, and blurred even then. The Empire and Jedi ones are 800 x 1200 also, but much less blurry. The backs were all tiny, so they're pretty blurry too. So yeah, if anyone has a better scan of the card, that'd be great. I have one ESB card of my own, but Yoda is still clinging on to it for dear life (and its pretty beat up).

Glad to be doing what I can to help!

Part 1 of my Star Wars Revisited Visual Comparison is up. This goes from the Opening Logos to Obi-Wan's Hut.

I did the best I could to match frame for frame. It takes a while when your only tool is an old version of PowerDVD, with Photoshop to put them together.

Ady, let me know if I missed a shot you want to highlight, or if my descriptions could be more descriptive.

Also, if anyone wants to host the photos off of Flikr and make them look more professional, let me know and I'll send you the files.

I apologize for continuing the ROTJ discussion but it seems Lando, in all early versions, survives according to SW.com and IMDb.com

http://imdb.com/title/tt0086190/faq#.2.1.1

I dont mean to sound to harsh and its totally your decision but I doubt Id watch an ending with Lando not making it... Its just one of the most exciting scenes when he flies out of the Death Star in such a dramatic fashion

I disagree completely. Ever since I heard that maybe Lando didn't make it out of the DS2 its given me chills, and over the years I've come to appreciate how good of an idea it would have been. I think it gives the ending a sense of balance, since besides Vader and one Ewok, no one dies or even looks like they might die. I'm not sure how Ady can address it without anyone mentioning it in the rest of the movie ("Yay, we win. Lando who?").

But back to ESB: Is Ady going to move the Falcon as it leaves Hoth so Luke is actually watching it leave instead of moving his head to where its going to be? Or pause Luke's head so the sound timing is still right?

I think its great the way it is! Seeing yours is what inspired me to try my own. I originally wanted to use this poster, but I couldn't find a high quality version and it would have ended up too similar to yours. So I did the figure card back idea, and I think it turned out alright.

I'm going to look more at the prequel card backs to see if I can't make them work. Since they don't have the solid black backgrounds I don't think they'll fit in enough with the OT though...

Ady,

You still putting our covers on the DVD-ROM part of the DVD-9? Of course, most of our covers only have the info for the DVD-5. If the covers are going on the DVD-9 wouldn't we need to know what all is going on the DVD-9?

I wouldn't mind if you just limited the covers on the DVD-9 to yours, I'm just curious if we should update ours.

There's been a lot of bashing of Vader's last line in ROTS, but it's his realization of his total culpability in the death of the woman he loved (and who, inexplicably, felt deeply for him as well).

But here, watching his sole offspring (so far's he knows) fall to his death.... I can see it. That same scream. That same horrifying moment that the beauty of life is ended.

Wise counsel. Vader must scream.

MattMahdi knew my thoughts exactly. But I'm glad I prefaced my original post saying that it was going too far with a joke. Because it is. Silence is golden, especially in Luke's suicide/escape attempt.

Speaking of going too far with a joke, I was thinking about Luke falling down Cloud City. In the original, he doesn't scream. In 97 SE, he screams. In 04 SE, he doesn't scream. How about we throw caution into the wind and have VADER scream when Luke jumps.

I think you know what I'm getting at...
