It's a tough one....He's just starting to like the films and loves the lightsaber he has, and I know I had the best childhood with my toys, I want him to be feel the same way...but that was a whole different time...things have changed just a bit too much for him to really appreciate all those wonderful toys!

Dunno?!?! I've always said I wouldn't let my kids play with my old SW toys..but it seems a waste to just leave them there.

I wouldn't overwhelm him with all of them. A lot of my figures are already beat up because I played with them my entire life, so I'll probably let my future kids tear them up even more. I would just let your kid play with a few of main figures, if they're not in really good condition. Or you could just buy some beat up ones at a flea market.

Okay, so it sucks as a follow-up to the previous three, but if you see it more as another OTT, blackly comic Jean Pierre Jeunet film in the style of Delicatessen and City Of Lost Children, it's a lot of fun. I've learned to enjoy it a lot more than I did when I first saw it. It's also interesting to see how Joss Whedon (who hated Jeunet's approach to the material as well) later adapted some of the character types of the crew into the crew from Firefly/Serenity.

After watching Firefly/Serenity, I did like the movie more, seeing what the crew of Serenity evolved from. I still don't think its very good, but I liked it better than I did.

So, Ron Perlman or Adam Baldwin: which one is a better badass?

Yoda in TPM says "Always two there are, no more, no less. A master, and an apprentice." The EU story goes that there were once thousands of Sith until they all tried to kill each other, nearly driving them to extinction. The only Sith left (I'm trying to do this without looking up anything, so I don't know his name) took one apprentice, and it pretty much became a rule from then on that there would only be two so they wouldn't be too tempted to just wipe each other out. It's assumed that if the apprentice was taking an apprentice, then the master was on his way out. The problem is that according to the EU, Vader had at least two apprentices and was actively searching for Luke to be his next and Palpatine had at least two others also. Maybe they were going to repopulate the Sith after 2000 years.

Or the EU isn't worth it anymore.

Sounds pretty cool. I don't know how much good can be salvaged from A:R (or how you can like A3, but that's beside the point).

I'm always ashamed when I praise Joss Whedon that I have to mention this movie. Maybe you can salvage it.

I don't understand the anger. I mean, as much as most of us around here love it, its just a fan edit. You're not running around the internet and press, saying how awesome it is and how every copy of ANH should be replaced with your own. If they don't like it, they can just ignore it. Three months ago I didn't even know things like this could exist, they can do the same.

The DVD-5's are fantastic, the only real upgrade for the DVD-9 are bonus features. And its not like they're paying for it anyway, so no one has any right to complain.

You work hard giving your hard work away for free, and people still complain like you're George Lucas forcing them to ignore the original versions and only recognizing the 2004 DVDs.

I can't wait to show my friend the edit tonight. He's already asked for his own copy and one for another friend. I even gave a copy to one of my bosses the other day.

There are a lot of good ideas here! I don't have kids yet, but I love CO's reasoning and suggestions.

I'm still debating whether to just let my future children grow up absorbed in the movies as I was, or should I hold back and wait until they have one clear memory of their first time. I'll probably just absorb them in it, because if I hyped up this movie to my own children and they turn out not to like it, I'd be REALLY bummed.

As for versions, Adywan's ANH is great, and I'm hoping that the rest of his edit of the saga will be just as awesome. Then that will be the versions I'll show my kids.

It's not just you. There definitely was a lack of promotion and product. But hey, why do anything special for the 30th anniversary, when the DVDs will sell themsleves precisely because of the 30th anniversary? Better to save the super special box set for a year when the sales are likely to be weak. Star Wars is not about GIVING, it's about GETTING.

I have to admit, at least Lucas was consistent. In keeping with his tradition of dumping on the original version of Star Wars, he did not make a big deal out of its 30th anniversary.

It's sad, I've had a Star Wars themed birthday party every 10th anniversary year (10th and 20th, my 4th and 14th), but I completely forgot last year. That and I doubt my wife would buy me a Star Wars cake, or that I could get one without it being a prequel one. To be honest, I was in one of my "don't really care" about Star Wars phase. The movies were done, the DVDs were old, the GOUT was disappointing (I didn't even buy it). Now I'm back into it, thanks to Revisited.

I'm finally going to be able to have my first showing of Revisited. I've watched it a few times by myself, but I'll be able to show it to one of my friends this Friday. He's pumped!

That's my mother's favorite Lando moment as well. I always thought it was funny that Lando is wearing Han's clothes in the ending scene. I just realized that he did leave Cloud City in a hurry with no bags (so did Leia, now that I think about it). But come on, someone else could have had clothes for him to borrow, so he wouldn't have to wear the signature Solo outfit.

A lot of you are like myself I'm sure, in your 30's, with a family and career and tons of shit piled on your plate. But don't think that Adywan isn't in that same boat. If he loves it enough to do this for your fandom, at least take the time to help him out and give hime suggestions. The least obvious would probably be more helpful. Again, thanks dude for all that you do.

I believe most of us have already given him our well-thought-out suggestions (mine just last week). However, since Ady's probably not going to start ESB for several months, we might have to take things off topic for a bit. No one comments on anyone else's suggestions anymore, and most of the suggestions are pretty much the same. ESB honestly doesn't need that much work as Ady has pointed out.

We're going to have to do something to fill the long months between the start of this thread and Ady starting work, and I'm sure Ady already has his own laundry list of changes. He made most of ANHR without anybody's input (except for the arm), I think he'll be alright if we spend a few posts making fun of Lando.
