Probably because they specifically tried to not do anything they couldn’t have done in 1978 if allowed more time and didn’t just use it as a test bed for effects they wanted to use in Nemesis. It also helped that even people who like Motion Picture admit it has flaws that the DE went a bit into fixing, while Star Wars was nominated for Best Picture.

I think the original petition at least made us heard within Lucasfilm. And those who heard us pleaded with George long enough that we got the GOUT. (That it was a recycled warmed over LD master was not their fault.) But that was a decade ago. Social media is where it’s at now, for better or worse. Every retweet is as good as a signature.

And having a statement ready to go is a good idea. It’s got to be eye catching and slick to be noticed as people scroll by. Something with a classic logo and maybe that cool silver border all the Kenner packaging had?

This I like.

That a documentary made in 2004 wasn’t shot in HD, (if only to future proof it) is weird.

Are you kidding? There were tv shows back then not filmed in HD, nevermind a silly documentary.

Which ones? Star Trek Enterprise was in HD, and it went off the air by 2005. Spielberg was talking about HD content in the 1990s, so it’s not like it would be crazy to shoot HD in 2004.

JEDIT: Above post reminded me there’s a big difference between TV shows and home video bonus content.

Enterprise was shot on film until the last season when it was shot digitally. All effects were completed in 720p.

I can only speak for the things I’ve found, but this one’s definitely a Deliberate Creative Decision:
Brightened Entry
What’s happening here is that there is a noticeable increase in brightness between the first and final frames of this shot, as if someone thought ‘hey, the door is opening but it’s not getting bright enough inside’. The SSE shows no increased brightness.

Hey look, you can get the 6-Disc DVD set that includes the GOUT from Amazon for only $310…and free Prime shipping!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EN71DG/ref=dra_a_ms_mr_hn_xx_P1400_1000?tag=dradisplay-20&ascsubtag=3bc20f423c91737175e22556e17a66d5_S

I didn’t know that set had the GOUT. I thought the only time those DVDs were released in one package was the rare Best Buy tin.

I have the tin case set. Anyways as Fang confirmed yes that set does have the GOUT sets just in slimmer cases and would be the final time, along with the PT, the SW films were in a DVD only set.

Quick question. The DVDs that accompanied the 2013 BD reissues. Are those new DVDs based off the 2011 BDs or just the 2004 DVDs repackaged??

I remember reading confirmation somewhere that they are indeed the 2011 versions.

I was under the impression the DVD’s were just 2004 because who would notice?* Interesting.

I finally caught up on this last night, man that made my heart warm to see the rebel fleet show up! hard to believe they can fit in another whole season… 😃

Still plenty to do before Scarif. I’m just interested to see how the Jedi are dispatched. It’s going to be hard to explain how Luke is special if there’s a grown-up Padawan & his Padawan who just left.

“You’re strong with the Force? That sucks, you just missed a couple of Jedi, one around your age*. They could probably teach you a thing or two.”

Yes, that will certainly be interesting to see how they handle it. having cool Jedi around that the Rebels are aware of (and even Princess Leia to some extent - she did meet them in Season 2 right?) certainly make some behavior in the OT seem like they suffered from mass amnesia.

Now that I think about it, no one seems to care he’s a Jedi. Only Yoda is like “when gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be”. Mon Mothma & Bail Organa seem pretty chill about him having a Jedi friend in R1. The only other time anyone really mentions it is when Han says Luke is having delusions of grandeur.

I dunno what conversation this has spun from, but maybe someone said “California” when they meant “Florida”?

I could visit California for a few weeks, probably, but there’s no way on earth I’d want to live there. I accidentally said this to someone from California and suffered the consequences of a poor first impression.

Why?

For pretty much the same reasons I wouldn’t want to live in Texas or Florida.
