My eyes!!!! My EYES!!!! (Twilight)
Time

My problem with the Columbus movies is that he didn't reformat anything for the movies. Also, way too many establishing shots of "LOOK WHAT WE MADE! IT'S JUST LIKE THE BOOKS!"

But that's just me. PoA is my favorite one, but that may be because it was the first one to blow my mind. I hadn't read the books, so all of the twists had me on the edge of my seat. I realized that they weren't little kid books at that point and read them all. I'm not huge fans of the post-me-reading-them movies, as I know what is going to happen and I just sit in the theater waiting to see how they did such-and-such or who they got to play so-and-so.

I'm a firm believer in experiencing the movie first, then reading the book. In most cases. Maybe I should write a blog post on that...

ON HOLD: A New Hope: ReVHSed (Pan & Scan of Adywan's Revisited)

Then it would have too many levels of degradation... I'm trying to make the entire movie as high quality as possible (which looks to be around 474x358), then letting the VHS do all of the dirty work. ;-)

Anyone have a P&S of ANH (2004 SE, I guess), they can upload at a crappy bitrate somewhere? Since I'm just getting the pans from it, it doesn't need to be high quality...

Adywan has "burned in" subtitles during Han & Greedo's scene.

I've heard, and I could be wrong, but Adywan might be a member of this forum, I know this might sound rediculous, but he might have the video without subs, and if you demand (using curses and person threats to family and friends) he might consider offering it so that you can revises the subs to fit the Pan&Scan mythos.

I thought about that, but he has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't have the original files anymore, but I guess I could ask...

Hmm.... in regards to this shot, is anything going to be done to the central left area, ie the background behind the front section of the Falcon?

The reason I mention this is that when the blast doors close for the night (in one of the preview clips), the hanger has been expanded/deepened so the Falcon is much farther back than it was originally.  Thus, in this shot, shouldn't that be reflected in the left area to show the hanger go back farther away?

I'm not sure but is that the blast door to the direct left of the silhouetted rebel?

I think that's just a Snowspeeder alcove. The door is well around the corner from that shot.

I'll probably be working in NTSC since that's what I have currently. Not sure what PAL warnings look like really. So my plan is an NTSC Fullscreen version of Revisited, followed by a VHS-ized version. I think I'd have to leave it to others to PAL it up.

My idea now is to find a fullscreen 2004 DVD from one of my friends, then set it as the top layer at a lower opacity so I can pan and scan Revisited accordingly. I don't have software yet, but I might try to do it within the 30 days a trial can get me.
