STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

sorry for such a noob question, but I am trying to download Adywan's fanedit, the SE revisited. I downloaded 5 or 6 of the .rar files from rapidshare but they came up corrupted when I tried to extract them. Can anyone help me with this, what else can I do to get this version?
You have to download ALL of the RAR files first. Then you unpack the first one and it unpacks the whole thing for you. If you're using jdownloader it will do it for you when its done.

I found a whole new section of Facebook where they keep messages from people I don't know (mostly spam). This was the most recent one:

Hey There Drew Stewart with Engineering...

How about working with us again, My name is LaReine R. Roark, I am a Captain and Commander of The Enterprise - NCC Class 1701 Star Fleet Vessel.

I work with Arvin Sloane, he is my one and only real husband and we are recognized by the Vatican as such...

We Work with Captain Jean Luc Picard (Captain Patrick Stewart Picard), Captain and Admiral Kirk and Starfleet Command!

Whatever you need you let us know we don't want to be Planet Bound at any time, we should always be working with Starfleet on The Enterprise and we are Currently Loading With Captain's Order's with the Starfleet Order's for: The Enterprise - NCC1701-G.

And no we never need our people killed nor hurt to get aboard our Ship's and we need all the Good help we can get!

I look forward to hearing from you, I am now awaiting Captain Picard and I've heard that Captain Kirk should be here anytime now to pick me up.

I shouldn't be here at the planet and if I am at a Planet he has to come and get me no matter what! I thank Starfleet for those outstanding order's!

Thank You!
Sincerely,
LaReine R. Roark

I do NOT want them to re-do the SFX from TNG, and if they DO rework them, I'd wish they do something like they've done with TOS (that means BOTH versions of the effects on the same disc).
I agree, but I don't think its likely.

At least we're not having the argument here that seems to be happening everywhere else. "Is it going to be in Pan & Scan, or are they going to make it fit my HDTV? TOS HD looks dumb." You all understand aspect ratios and how terrible cropping the image would be.

Help: looking for... a true Classic Star Wars Trilogy Restoration?

But in all Harmys Restorations are No CGI effects at all...

This is as true to the original as i can get, is that correct?
Indeed. Shots that were completely CGI were replaced with footage from D_J's V4(?), shots that had CGI elements in them were rotoscoped with recreated or original elements, the only things that remain from the SEs really are recomposites that used the original models and the redone wipes.

As you can see, its impossible to get them all. If you're going to flip out at ANY change, you might be better off with V3.

I just realized that NONE of the effects are going to be on there. Hand phasers are going to have to be redone, disintegration effects, explosions, Q changing clothes in a snap...

TRANSPORTERS! My god, the transporter effects are going to have to be redone!
Hm... are you sure about that ? I know it might sound like a stupid question but I don't know in which "physical form" are these effects stored.
They're going to back to the O-Neg for the live action footage, that would be the on-set film with no effects. Even if the transporter effects were filmed, they'd have to be recomposited. Either way, its a lot of work.

Keep in mind that Harmy is also tweaking his A New Hope Despecialized with a 1.2 version. If you feel like downloading them, I'd wait a bit longer for that one.
And redoing Empire from scratch after that.

As for the topic, yes, there are many, I'm assuming D_J's V3 is the closest possible. Harmy's is great to have in HD, and my personal favorite.

I hope they do what they did for TOS, put both the original and their new version on the blu ray.
I'd like to think that they will. But DVD is actually better than the original composites could ever look, so it may be a case of "you already have the original effects in the highest resolution possible". That wasn't the case for the TOS DVDs since they were composited on film.

Press release says Season 1 is coming next year. They're in it for the long haul. This is just a sample so you know they can do it and get excited (its working).

OK, can someone please kindly detail to me how a composite shot works? They can't exactly just re-render these, can they? And what will they do with the computer effects? Were those rendered in 480p or put in the film? Just confused is all. Thanks to anybody who can help.
The models were filmed against a blue screen in multiple passes, just like they did in Star Wars. In fact, ILM worked on the pilot! All of those passes are in film canisters in that warehouse in the teaser. They are scanning the film, lining them up, and laying them on top of each other digitally. Any primitive CG effects would have to be redone from scratch.

Sadly I doubt if Babylon 5 will ever get the same treatment.

Every single special effect would have to be redone which is why even the DVDs look choppy.
The Firefly Blu-ray set has 1080p live action and 480p special effects shots. For a 14 episode series, I'd think they could redo them using the more detailed model they built for the movie for pretty cheap.

Some awesome guy already made a visual comparison of the shot of the Enterprise from that trailer:

http://picasaweb.google.com/102542760950977079734/TNGHD

He points out that its the same shot, but recomposited from the original model that was shot on film. It's incredible work, what any good special edition should be: fix the composites and leave the rest alone. It's a shame they didn't have the original elements for TOS. The CGI is fun, just not MODELS.

What blows my mind is that they are going back to the original negatives, and re-editing the entire series from scratch. Every shot, every take, every effects shot, redone from the original negative. All of post-production for that series is being redone on modern equipment. I'm not a huge TNG fan, but I'm definitely interested in this.

Just noticed this for the first time while watching the Blu Ray of AOTC, went back and checked the DVD. It's there too! Can't believe I never noticed this!

AOTC - Scene is palps office. End of steps, left side of screen.
26:13-26:14

When lil Annie and Palps are walking away from the window the camera pans with them towards the steps. The tracking of the last step and column is off, then suddenly it snaps into place. Sure it's fast, probably been there for 9 years, but how does this stuff get missed? Better yet, how does this get missed for 9 years while they are "fixing" other stuff?
Screenshots? I dont' follow.
