IDW app on my phone had some free Doctor Who comics, so I read those. I really want to read the Trek comic Tobar is talking about, but I can't justify paying $4 for it on an app when I can pay $4 at the comic store to get it for real (which I have to find first).
I used some iTunes credit and bought the Trek comics for the IDW Comics app on iOS. Read them on my wife's iPad, very nice. Enjoyed it, subtle changes, I'll keep buying the issues as they come out.

Alright, so I'm in Series 5 now. Catching up:

"The Stolen Earth" / "Journey's End"

Tied up all of the lose ends from the first 4 seasons, had every companion the Doctor has known in the new series together using their unique skills for one final send off. The Doctor even regenerates, sort of. Everyone is happy. Everything ends, no cliffhangers, just The Doctor, alone again. Perfection, brought tears to my eyes.

"The Next Doctor" / "Waters of Mars" ("Planet of the Dead" was not on Netflix)

Pretty bad. Didn't like what the Doctor was becoming, but I guess that was the point. "The Time Lord Victorious" worried me a lot, but Time worked itself out.

"The End of Time"

Really? This was the 10th Doctor's two-part, feature-length send off? A bunch of stuff happens that doesn't make sense, The Master returns and becomes every person on the planet for the purpose of bringing James Bond & The Time Lords (best band name ever) out of the Time War, just for everything to be undone in a few minutes. And 10 is done in by radiation that lets him slowly and silently stalk all of his old companions who we already said goodbye to for 20 minutes before he has to regenerate, which for some reason blows up the TARDIS. Shameful, even with The Master being the focus.

11th Doctor

So far, I like him. I seem to do this every time. I was afraid I wouldn't like 10 as much as I liked 9, but as soon as I started watching the new episodes I loved him. I was afraid of losing Rose, but Martha was awesome. I was afraid of losing Martha, but Donna really shined. Finally, I was afraid of losing 10. For some reason, its like they were trying to wean us off of Tennant in the Series of Movies (what was up with that, did they take the year off or something?), as he had his moments but was pretty unlikable at several points.

Anyway, I can tell that Matt Smith is really young and energetic, which is nice, but I can see how it might get annoying after a while.

I've got two weeks to watch the rest of Series 5, then I'll have to find other ways of catching up through 6. Any help would be hot.

EDIT: THE DVDS ARE $100 A SERIES! That's insane.

Awww...all you need now is a TCE/laser screwdriver variant of your 005 logo.
I could make a sonic screwdriver version of my logo. Brilliant, a new project!

I'm sorry! I'm sure I'll regenerate back sometime.

I think what SHOULD have been done is exactly what (murder me for saying this) they're doing to Star Trek: The Next Generation. They're taking all the ORIGINAL film elements for the episodes and recomposing them from scratch. So we have the exact same episode, but with modern, HD composition. The result is a new, crisp, updated feel while still respecting the history.

Why can't we get that with Star Wars?
That's exactly what the Special Edition was supposed to be until someone had the bright idea of replacing a couple battle shots with CGI fighters. Most of the changes are exactly what they're doing with TNG.

One of my best friends from college is really starting to show her nerdiness, and I've never been more proud of her than this Google+ update:

For my geeks: Today, I was tempted to imagine how events in my past would have been better with a tweak here or a change there, but then I remembered George Lucas and was totally over it.

This is you all influencing me influencing her. We all thank you.

Just met River Song. Very interesting use of "you haven't met me yet". Saddest too.

Now I'm all worried for The End of Time, not only because I'll be losing Tennant (and maybe Donna?), but because its going to be overblown? I don't know I'm fine with overblown. I did think the Dobby Doctor was silly, and when everyone thought the Doctor's name and he grew back into his 10th incarnation (I would have thought turning off a Time Lord's regeneration would make it so if he regenerated back, it would probably be different) then started floating, I was very glad my wife didn't decide to start watching that episode with me.

The Mrs and I are taking turns playing while I watch Doctor Who on the iPad. We do agree that its more streamlined than Oblivion. The Mrs is going Mage, while I'm going Assassin/Thief, as much as you can choose classes in Skyrim. It's more that you just do what you want and it levels you up in the skills that would be useful. I love the talent tree thing as well.

or Hamlet? (That last one was rubbish, Everyone kept calling the Doctor 'Hamlet', and Patrick Stewart didn't say "Make it so" once! LAME)
I won't tell you how many days to get the joke. I eventually LOLed.

Finished Series 3 today. Loved that I can still be caught off guard by 5 year old episodes.

[SPOILERS]I did not expect the Master reveal in Utopia. Or for his character to be so deliciously evil. Loved every second he was chewing the scenery.

Blink was fun, but I expected so much more. If I didn't know it was supposed to be memorable, I don't think I would have thought twice on it.[/SPOILERS]

Words I never thought I'd hear: Joe Paterno fired (UPDATE JOE PATERNO IS DEAD)
Time

Like I said, I hadn't heard of him until earlier today. It is unfortunate that someone who seems like they should be remembered for all the good things he's done is probably going to be remembered more for this, at least for people who aren't familiar with Penn State or college sports. But riots are not going to erase this scandal, only draw more attention to it.

Ah yes, I was thinking that the only one I didn't really enjoy was the one where the guy was obsessed with the Doctor and ELO and fell in love with Moaning Myrtle and ended with an oral sex joke. That's the one, "Love and Monsters"!
