This one might be a bit weird.

Yeah I think that is the weirdest. He doesn't have to, because half the time he scoops up water and drinks it from his paw. But when he decides to drink straight from the bowl, he splashes some water around and then rubs each paw up and down on the ground like he is wiping his feet. It is like some crazy throwback behaviour from his ancestors drinking on river banks or something.

"Puss" is the first cat I have owned since I was twelve or so, so I wouldn't say I have that much cat experience. But I think he is weird. Here are some examples:

He doesn't like milk.
He doesn't like chocolate.
He prefers cat biscuits to meat.
He often eats and drinks with his paws.
He loves chili powder, pepper steak sauce, and other spicy foods.
He tries to eat toothpaste and breath mints.
He tries to lick deodorant.
He tries to lick B.O.
He tries to eat ear wax out of your ear.
He doesn't care if you touch his nose.
He doesn't care if you hold his back feet.
He likes being put in a box.
He has to get his paws wet and rub them on the ground before he drinks.

Are most of these normal or is my cat a weirdo?

People call generic acetaminophen Tylenol.

Not exactly a brand name, but I have a bad habit of using "aspirin" for any kind of pain killer.

Aspirin was the norm here until Panadol seemed to take over. Incidentally acetaminophen is known as paracetamol internationally.

Thanks Boost! I thought of Scotch Tape and forgot it again, although here it's sticky tape.

"Cyanoacrylate" is called Krazy Glue.
"Inflatable armbands" are called Floaties.
"Plastic food containers" are called Tupperware.
A "reclining sofa" is called a La-Z-Boy.

edit: to further signal to you that you pinpointed how I feel, doubleKO, I've edited my original post to reflect your correction.

Thanks ferris. Not necessary but a welcome change.

My feelings are closer to yours Bingo but I understand both views. I kill mosquitoes and flies with no qualms but tend to leave other bugs to themselves and move even the dangerous ones. One exception is white tailed spiders - I will kill those sneaky little fuckers with no remorse. Bacteria from their mouth parts can give you an incurable necrosis.

As for mice, I guess I would rather put them out, but I didn't even know you could get traps that don't harm them.

For me not to kill an animal that is dangerous or a nuisance to me, it must serve a purpose which I benefit from.

Fixed?

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't really think that you were just running around killing stuff for fun, but that sentence bothered me some. I don't even have a problem with hunting if it serves the purpose of culling overabundant populations, especially when it comes to introduced species. A lot of "hunters" I've met personally though are just idiots with guns who do enjoy killing things. I think those types should be forced to fight rogue bears with a Swiss Army Knife...

I really hope this was just worded poorly, because if that is literally what you meant I think it is a horrible attitude. And I do not really even have a strong "critter empathy".

I don't have much of a problem with killing animals or bugs that are dangerous or even a major nuisance, but to only NOT kill it if it benefits you? I suppose dodos were pretty useless...

I have heard all of these used before, but some are country-specific. In Australia, a tissue is a tissue, a photocopy is a photocopy, a vacuum cleaner is a vacuum cleaner. Also Jell-O is called jelly because here jelly is called jam. Sticking to brand names, here are some that I think are uniquely Australian but may be more widespread:

A "marker pen" is called a Texta.
A "correction fluid" is called Liquid Paper.
A "cooler" or "ice chest" is called an Esky.
A "pharmaceutical analgesic" is called Panadol.
A "water displacing spray" is called WD-40.
A "cigarette paper" is called a Tally-Ho.

About half a season to go of Trailer Park Boys. Thanks Red! I didn't think it was that good at first, but a few episodes in I couldn't stop watching.

Breaker breaker, come in Earth. This is rocket ship 27. Aliens fucked over the carbonator on engine number 4; I'm gonna try and refuckulate it and land on Juniper. Uh, hopefully they got some space weed... over.
