This Bluray was meticulously edited and COLOR ADJUSTED to cut back on the blue tinting/saturation that blankets the film. For the 2004 re-release the original trilogy underwent extreme color saturation changes that altered the natural colors originally shot on film. For this final and definitive release the blue tinting present through almost the entire film has been nearly wiped away.

In addition to the extensive color adjustments a short Tri-Screen Vignette is included that showcases the differences between the newly restored 2009 Wookie Groomer edition with the original 1980 theatrical version and 2004 official re-release version with the blue tinting which is selectable via the Bluray menu.

In the audio department I have made an alternate audio commentary 2 track to compliment the original commentary already found on the official DVD release. This 2nd alternate commentary is a collection of rare interviews pieced together and placed in many key sequences through the film. In addition, I have created using raw uncompressed PCM 2 channel stereo a complete isolated music score that syncs through the entire film in both 2 channel uncompressed PCM stereo and DTS 5.1 Simulated surround sound also selectable via the menu. Not to mention the orginal Boba Fett voice has been restored again and corrected from the previous editions.

With the color adjustments, highest possible bitrate for unquestionable picture quality, Tri-Screen Vignette and a total of 6 audio channels including isolated music score no fan of the series could possibly pass on having this in their collection. The intention with this release is to provide a single definitive video/audiophile edition that can be enjoyed by even the most elitist home theater afficianadoes. My only regrets are that I could not do the animated menus, pop up menus and picture in picture split screen due to the major limitations of the authoring software I used. For the little girls that aren't serious fans that complained about file size I wish I could make this 60GB!

Included in the rar set is the iso & mds files and updated Bluray insert cover reflecting the subtraction of languages and corrected typos.

To burn the iso please use the provided mds file in ImgBurn.

How about making the films as close to the originals as possible?. I dont mean trimming every bit of the special editions away but all the pointless stuff like the extra snow creature scenes , Vaders return to his star destroyer , the pointless camera paning around the sand dunes in ROTJ . Is it possible to have the original   ending of Return Of The Jedi ?. Also insert the original Boba Fett's voice and "bring my shuttle " line back. Could something like this be done? .

I have no interest in turning this into a full blown major editing project,Adywans Revisited series is for that, but I would not mind doing some simple color correcting, and maybe some easy edits(maybe)I personally like all the SE versions as well as the Original versions,I am NOT a hater on all the changes like most are here.

I am a Star Wars fan of old and new.

Agreed.

If WG is actually putting intentionally screwed up works out there for people to download at 40+ gig per movie that is truly a dick move beyond comprehension. Regardless, it's clear that Adywan has always shown much more respect for not only the projects he's working on, but for the people on this forum that follow his work. Perhaps WG is pissed that he used to be idolized around here for providing the SW films in hi-def and now Ady has come along and stolen his thunder. If so, he needs to grow up and get over it.

His attitude after pointing out the error on his Jedi Blu-ray was the last straw for me. I just don't care anymore. He can keep his Star Wars Blu-rays as I don't want them. I will be following Adywan from now on.

Is it true that WG'S Jedi is a total disaster ?, is the sync issues really that bad/noticeable ?. What about WG'S episode 4 has anyone got that yet to confirm if its worth it?

His Jedi Blu-ray has about 5 minutes where the sound is about 4 1/2 frames off. It happens at the end of the movie during the big scene where the emperor gives up on Luke and decides to destroy him. It totally ruins the scene and so far Wookie Groomer has made no mention of fixing the problem.

I absolutely will not be downloading his ANH Blu-ray. After I pointed out the audio sync problem with his Jedi release he told me to just delete the file and he was going to give up on the project. He also has made no mention of fixing the problem. His Empire Blu-ray has non working menue's and to me the colors just don't look right. It almost looks like he removed too much of the blue as the sky backgrounds look terrible. Adywans colors look much beter and don't suffer from this. Who knows what problems his ANH will have. With his attitude lately I am not going to bother with anymore of his Blu-ray releases.  Adywan is doing much better work and he doesn't freek out if one points out a problem with his release.

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now

Adywan,

I know your cup is clearly running over with all the projects you are undertaking but I have to ask. The work you are doing here is stellar and so much better than what Wookie Groomer is doing, (not to mention all the drama), Could you make these new encodes sized for BD-9's and BD-25's.  I am not asking for fancy menue's or anything just that the files are encoded to compliant 1920 x 1080p so that those of us with Blu-ray burners can create our own Blu-ray's. Pretty please with sugar on top.

If the audio on the initial release is as crap as you say it is, whilst I thought it was the best I have heard through my basic system, I cannot wait to get the new AC3 file added to the copy I have.

Of course, the downside is that I will have to watch TPM again afterwards..........

Ditto.

Trust me. When you hear the sound from the Japanese Phantom Menace LD in all it's glory (without the dynamic compression) you will be amazed. It is quite simply the best sound I have ever heard from an ac3 track.

yes his is better. I would have assumed that all the laserdisc pressings were the same, which is why i didn't bother to see if i could borrow his in the first place. We both purchased our copies off ebay. There is another difference too. On his he has a dolby digital video before the movie starts whereas mine goes from the fox opening directly to the movie. No dolby digital vid at all. very strange indeed

But the sound is so much better than my disc and now at least i won't have to work with all the filters in vegas to try and eliminate the DRC from the original recording.

WOW. It sounds like yours is a bootleg. I didn't even know they existed.

Ok a bit of news here. I know someone who has a laserdisc player with a demodulator that lives a couple of miles away so i a gave him a ring this afternoon to see if i could try my TPM laserdisc on his setup so i could finally rule out a player problem. Went around, popped it in and indeed it has nothing to do with my setup as it is exactly the same on his. Now here is the strange part. He got a copy just after i got mine off ebay so we popped in his copy. It sounded totally different. We compared the covers and the discs mine has slightly different colour writing on the labels. Mine look a bit dull in comparison. Now i know its highly unlikely that mine isn't an official pressing but why is there such a huge difference in sound quality between mine and his?

He can't rip the audio from his machine because he only has a laptop so he has leant me his copy to re-rip the audio in exchange for a copy of the DVD when its redone. Fair enough swap :)

So what i will do is just post the new AC3 with instructions on how to replace it with the audio on the DVD. It's not going to be until at least next week through because i don't have the time at the moment to do it.

This is fantastic news Adywan. I new something was wrong as my LD of Phantom Menace doesn't suffer from any dynamic compression. It sounds simply amazing. You guys are in for a real treat when you hear this audio track. Thanks Adywan for sorting this out and taking the time to put together a new track and share it with us. You are a real class act my friend.

Yes. I expect Adywan knows what he is doing. Still its frustrating as I don't remember the AC3 from the LD having this level of dynamic compression. I admit though it has been years since I heard it as I no longer have the necessary equipment. Also, it could be that I have become accustomed to the loss-less audio on HD-DVD's and Blu-rays.

Adywan thanks for this fine dvd but...

I hate to say it because so far all of your releases have been superb but I am a very disappointed with the sound on this release. As someone who own's and has heard the AC3 audio on the Japanese LD I can safely say that the audio on this dvd doesn't even come close. I can hear massive amounts of dynamic compression going on in this mix especially in the loud parts. It sounds to me like the soft parts have been brought up and the loud parts have been brought down. Explosions sound much quiter than they should and the big light saber battle, which was so amazing on the LD falls totally flat here. I hope I don't offend you Adywan as I'm just giving my honest opinion. Is it possible something slipped in when you assembled/recoded the sound in Vegas?

I would not recomend Besweet - it uses ac3enc for the re-encoding which is known to be buggy and gives poor quality results. If your going to alter the audio, extract the channels to PCM, speed up, then use Aften to re-encode.

To be honest though, it would be preferable to convert the video to NTSC.

I have been using EAC3toGUI for quite a while and love it for converting dts to ac3 or slowing 25 pal to 23.976 ntsc. I have not experienced any bugs and have no problem with the quality.

It looks liike he is releasing a final version.

From the abhdtv.net forum.

Wookie Groomer:

"I am building the final Bluray ISO that is about 45GB and has a nice little 10 minute TriScreen vignette feature showing the differences between the color adjustments and the original. Plan on seeing that final release in the next couple days. This is the final and is the bluray template I will be using for the remaining trilogy".

How long is the, uh, process taking for most of you? I've been in the midst of it with a quite powerful computer and connection for over a day and a half, and I'm still only past halfway. Has anyone seen it yet?

Yea, me too. This is to be expected though as there is currently only one seeder (Fanfiltration). Just be patient. You should have it by tomorrow night.

As long as this isn't from 25fps PAL encodes, I'm happy.  I can't stand the speed-up.

And btw...now you know someone with an HD DVD player. :)

Agreed. I am also a proud owner of a Toshiba a3 HD-DVD player. I also own an LG Super multi blue drive for my computer

which plays both Blu-ray and Hd-DVD formats so I'm all set.
