Tootsie: Criterion Special Edition (* unfinished project *)
Time

Hey all…

So I’m putting together a Criterion special edition for Tootsie but I wanted to include all the extras from both laserdisc releases (including the 1995 Special Edition).  I have the Criterion but I don’t have the 1995.  Does anyone here have it, by chance?

This is what it looks like:

It’s on Ebay but I don’t feel like shelling out $20 for something I’m going to use once.

please be more specific.

is it worth taking to a preservationist the aforementioned 16mm trailer of 'raiders of the lost ark'.

or is it something that is not needed, and then i can scan it, convert to video, etc, without

worrying about messing up something historical..

you've given us no information about this.  where was this trailer "aforementioned?"

The HD DVD and Blu Ray versions are exactly the same, as is the case with any title that WB released on both formats.

That's not entirely true.  There are different encodes on HD and BD and there are also various HD's that have more extras on HD than BD.

Either way, the officially released versions are going to be better than an MPEG TS file.

I've got the set. I'm in Berkeley, though, and I take it from your tag that you're on the other side of the States.

Another Criterion that might be worth some work is Tootsie. There's a great commentary track from Sydney Pollack, plus a detailed documentary, a rather glitchy photo gallery, and a great outtake of "Dorothy" being interviewed by Gene Shalit. One could also consider incorporating the EPK material from the Columbia/TriStar SE disc set-- none of this stuff made it to the DVD.

Oy vey...looks like I'm going to have to tackle this...unless someone else is. Since I don't have either disc, I'm going to have to put some money down.

I think it comes down to space issues. they'd be a cool bonus, but if they'll compromise the quality of the other stuff, you shouldn't worry about including them.

On an unrelated note, I was looking through some of your older releases and realized I never printed the cover for The Game. I probably burned it to some CD-R somewhere, but after an exhaustive search, I couldn't find it. Could you or anyone help me out?

Maybe I'll just save them for their own DVD for myself. I think everything else is going to stand on its own.

how long have prints been out there?
and how long have people been making telecines/scans/etc?

i would hardly think they would start 'cracking down' just
because a lone 16 (not 35mm) print got out, and people
were playing around with it..

anyways, i'm keeping an eye on the auction, and it hasn't
moved much yet....i guess in the next couple of days
we'll know..

I dunno man. You tell me. If so many prints are out there and so many people are doing what we're trying to do, then why are we trying to do it in the first place? Shouldn't we just be trying to get a copy from one of the apparently "many" people that have done this before?

I guess baby hum's not around at the moment then? After all, you mean to match his covers, yeah? If you share the covers for the currently available discs again, I'll download and see if I could do some matching ones for you.

I don't even know where he is. he comes and goes. I think i asked him to help me out but he wasn't able to find his original files.
