Nancy Allen on Irvin Kirshner
Time

"Allen came on for Robocop 2 because it was going to be directed by Tim Hunter, who also helmed River's Edge. 'I loved the script,' which was written by Frank Miller (Sin City), and Walon Green (The Wild Bunch). Hunter left the project and was then replaced by The Empire Strikes Back helmer Irvin Kirshner, who Allen called 'the most miserable human being that ever walked planet earth. I found out later that he didn't want me to return for the role. He then ruined the script, taking the heart and soul out of it. Robocop 2 was missing everything that made the first film wonderful.'"

It's too bad. He seemed so nice. :(

Kids can be thoughtless and cruel.

Having a nice big bank account from TPM is probably the best revenge. ;)

I know liam neeson got some kind of profit sharing deal, but did jake lloyd have a big contract?

probably enough for college tuition ;)

[sigh] man...the scene with him and his family signing that contract; they were so happy at the time.

The criticsm he got was out of control.

so was ewan...

and poor ahmed best :(

how annoying it was to see rick mccallum joke around about trying to get natalie to sign a 3 picture deal without having yet see one script.  Im not a fan of hers, but knowing how she was once pretty picky with roles, she would have been so appalled at how meaningless her character would end up being (anyway to search your prior posts? i feel like I've said this before somewhere else).

I think samuel L Jackson was the only one who was happy the whole time cuz it was just one giant play-time for a fan.  and maybe McDiarmid cuz he was revisiting his greatest role and it was more interesting compared to the other PT characters.

Ewan got crap? He was fine.

That whole movie was a mess. It was like your dad telling you that he's taking you to the circus and when you get there, you witness a car-wreck.

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit
Time

I just saw the commercial for the Godfather Saga on AMC, which will start airing tomorrow. The commercial did indeed say it was completely restored and showed them in HD. If they went through and remastered the whole thing then that CERTAINLY is news. They would have had to remaster the deleted scenes as well and that's never been done. The Blu-ray set only had them edited from the Saga/Trilogy.

It's interesting that the Saga was always just the first two. Now they're showing all three.

I can't imagine they would have gone through this trouble only for AMC. I could see this getting a blu release.

Additionally, TOTALLY different intro to Godfather 3. It's got a newly produced montage of the first 2 films, intercut with outtakes of Michael sitting on the lawn from the end of 2. This proves they went back to the masters with the new footage. REALLY excited for a new release with more restored deleted scenes!!

Is it a semi-transparent logo? I developed an AviSynth script for the Rad source that was fairly successful:

Solid logos are more difficult, but if you have a logo-less DVD, and it matches up frame-for-frame with the HD source, then you should be able to upscale that portion and overlay it over the logo.

It's the Biography channel. The Jaws special is what I was hoping to do. However, I'm wondering if it will be on the eventual Blu-ray.

Lucas is just trolling now - THR Interview
Time

I'm honestly completely floored...and very, very sad, to be honest.

I used to look forward to the possibility of showing my niece the movies...but my love is dying, something I *NEVER* thought would happen. It's becoming a huge joke that only George is in on. And it's insulting.

What a dick. :( He's spitting on everyone who has ever been a fan of these films.

NTSC has 3:2 pulldown and the whole thing of not being a whole number of frames per second.

It's easy to take a PAL video source and convert it to 24fps - the frames just play back 4% slower, no pulldown or interpolation necessary.

It really doesn't matter, because the final 24fps version is going to be synched to the existing soundtrack preservations.

I dunno. I just feel like stretching anything will introduce artifacts. I know it does with sound.

Yeah, it's a whole matte painting, which was completely changed in the SE, not just the soldiers in the foreground but also the walls, the window and about half of the soldiers in the room.

I am now encoding WP3 reel one. Here's a little promo from it :-)

Why is it 25fps???
Sounds horrible.

and you've gotten aliasing artifacts as well.
