btw, digitalfreak, are you gonna send out the bonus material too? also, how can you d/l it so fast when I only get 4k a sec?

I will be making copies of whatever people want. I have the supplements disc and if you want that, you send 4 discs instead of 3. Oh and btw...I have the Making of Star Wars and Empire on DVD as well. Mastered from the laserdisc.

Empire is done. Just waiting for Jedi now.

not sure how i disregarded your offer.....was trying to help you complete your download, not to mention help other people who already started at torrentbox...how can you do b&p's if you dont finish? not to mention im assuming youd rather not have an endless stream of requests. ..to be honest i thought i was helping you out

I don't mind being inundated with requests. I'm happy to help.

but thank you for the help. I haven't had a problem for a couple of days now. It should still be downloading when I get home. I guess we'll see. Tonight Empire will be done...and hopefully tomorrow, Jedi. So this weekend I will give out all my informaiton and people can start sending their stuff in!

sorry, but when i say "people are selling" copies of pre se trilogy why do you assume im talking about you?? i posted those links because people (you in particular) were saying torrentbox was down. not sure why that makes you think i want to buy tk47s copies (i posted links so people DONT have to buy it) and i know what b&p is.

That means...you send me 4 blank DVD-R disc plus a postage paid package for the blank DVDr's to be sent back to you. I'll burn them and put them into the package and just drop them in the nearest box. It's the least I could do for the fans who really want it. I wouldn't want to make any money off of this.

digitalfreaknyc,
Any ideas which brand of DVD-R discs work well with your burner and most living room players? I was thinking of sending you some of those nice looking Verbatim discs that look like actual movie reels. Real cool! Let me know when you're ready to burn all 4 DVD-R's. I'll send mine asap. Do you have a problem shipping to Canada like TR47 does?

petrob

I will ship to Canada...or I should say...as long as you put enough postage on the package, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm just dropping it in the mailbox.

I always use TDK discs. Never had a problem with any of my players and I have 3.

Dude...you're NOT understanding. The files are pretty useless unless you have people seeding the DVD's. If the site is down or no one is seeding it, you're not getting them regardless of your having the files or not. The files are just links. Nothing more.

actually, to save you trouble, it would probably be easier for you just to continue seeding the torrents and providing the torrent files. Because your generosity is great, but if you're inundated with 20 requests there might be some problems.

Yes...but you guys are going to have more problems trying to download these files than just sending me some blanks and postage. It's not a huge deal. It just might take me some time to burn them all. I can burn up to 4x so i could get a set done a night if I don't have too much going on around that time. Just make sure you get discs that burn at 4x. I recommend TDK's...that's all I use. But again, all i'm doing is burning, sticking them in the envilope you provide with postage already put on it and dropping it in the mailbox. You guys are on your own if you don't put enough postage on it or anything like that.

All I have to say is that I DO NOT want to see my Con ED bill after leaving my computer on for all these days. lol

They're back up now.

For everyone interested, I should be done downloading the torrents in the next couple of days. Please PM or Email me to tell me if you're interested in a B&P for the 4 disc set. To repeat, I'm making NO money off of this and am offering to burn you the discs for free as long as you are patient and give me time. I am downloading the anamorphic version with menus. NOT TK-47's version. if you feel like paying $40 for it, go right ahead. If you want it for the cost of some blanks and postage, then talk to me.

No, I think you have me mixed up with someone else. The version I have is not anamorphic, nor am I asking $60 for it. BTW there is no email address listed above. Also, when you buy from me, you are not just paying for the discs; you are paying for the time involved with the project plus the risk involved in bringing you the set safely. The proceeds are also going to help fund a new dual layer ultimate transfer later this year, complete with all the bells & whistles plus as many bonus features as I can find. If this still offends you, I'm sorry; plenty of others want these movies in their true format on DVD, and are not concerned with minutiae or petty moralizing. I don't mean to sound condescending, it's just the facts.

Petty moralizing? So ripping people off isn't a big deal?
Listen...if these weren't DVD-r's (which they are), then it would be a different story. I paid a good amount for the dual layered bootlegs because 1) you can't get sometihng dual layered at the moment that's unofficial and 2) they weren't dvd-r's. I don't know about you but DVD-r's cost AT MOST $5 each. I usually get my TDK's for a lot less. If you want to rip fans off, go right ahead. But don't you think you should be charging people more when you DO end up getting the dual layered versions? I know I wouldn't be opposed to spending more money if you did something like that. But right now DVD-R's are very cheap and very easy to reproduce. THOSE are facts. And if you're selling them for the price of the DVD-r's, then fine. But if you're going to put a price on the "time involved" then it makes me question whether or not your'e a real fan. A real fan would be doing this for himself and to make the best product he can and then to share it with other people but NOT to make a profit off of it. And the "risk involved in bringing you this set safely??? I didn't realize you were Indiana Jones and hand delivering these through ice, sleet, snow and rain...lol I'm not exactly sure how the US postal system is not safe.

Bottom line, don't rip people off. It disgusts me. And the high and mighty attitude is just ridiculous. Regardless of what you've done, these aren't your movies. It isn't your place to illegally reproduce them. And it isn't your place to rip people off.

I just now noticed you also post on thedvdetective forums, not sure if you have seen me there or not. Yes, I do buy legit releases also

I actually DID email about that set and I believe it was the guy that runs that site that told me about your set. I thought it was you who emailed me back (I posted the email above) and I was so disgusted by how much he wanted to rip me off for the set. I emailed him back and told him I would pay for the DVD-r's only and he never responded. I guess that wasn't you?

Yes...i'm on the dvddetective forums. Kinda just got on it. I have a good amount of imported DVD's but haven't used their services yet. Not too many that I still need. Mostly japanese releases.

an update: i got the supplements disc. VERY nice menus! I continue to be VERY impressed with this set.

.

How do you know which LD player was used to make them?

And as was stated beforehand...the visual quality is very similar. Personally, I'd rather have nice menus, chapter stops, the commentaries (though they are sparse at best). Shows the person put a lot of effort into the presentation. And I'm really amazed at the quality.

Again...i'm very curious to know how much you are charging people for your set...IF you're not the poster that was mentioned above. Because that guy was ripping people off and I told him so.

www.torrentbox.com is back online now and they have all 4 files.

Yes I posted this above. I'm in the process of getting the other 3 right now. Can't wait! I already have some people lined up to trade copies with!

Strong words from someone who hasn't even seen the quality to compare it, and who has the price completely wrong

Strong words?

Really?

Because THIS is the email I received when I contacted someone:

Were you interested in the
original version of the trilogy on DVD? I do not sell them.
I only provide LD backups on DVD. I only charge for the supplies and
shipping.
They are 16:9 anamorphic and are the best out there. I do have the extras
disc as well.
These are intended as backups only. I can send the DVDs with VERY nice
covers, cases, with label art as well. The covers are the orignal poster
art from each movie and look like an offical DVD release.
Either way, let me know.
Total for all 4 DVDs with artwork with shipping and handling is $60. $45
without the cases, artwork and labels. If you want just the movies, take
off $5, so $55 or $40.
Thanks and again, they are backups only for your LDs.

Unless the price went down for these "supplies"...then that's the price i was quoted.

And FYI the torrents are back up. I'm downloading the other 4 discs as we speak. For free. No charge for "supplies."

Darth Balls...

What do you mean the actual files? The vob files? or you mean the links to the torrents? I have the links to the torrents...but they're down. Vanished.
Personally...*I* think the anamorphic Star Wars looks FANTASTIC. As someone who owns the Definitive Collection boxed set, the SE lasers, and i've purchased about 5 different bootlegs of the original trilogy...this is definitely the best. Obviously not better than the lasers but they've definitely been cleaned up. As far as the TK-47 versions, I can't say anything about those.

I'm not about to let someone rip me off for $60 or whatever it is to buy them when I'm paying for DVD-R's. That disgusts me.

I found some more torrents but haven't tried them yet. I don't know if they're the same ones you've got. I'll gladly send them to you. For me to be able to PM you, you've got to allow PM's in your profile first (the padlock icon).

Nope...mine were from torrentbox.com which must have went down sometime last night. like i said...i got all of star wars but I still need the other 3.

Just out of curiosity, what do you have to trade?

At the moment...not a ton of Star Wars stuff as I haven't transferred my god-knows-how-many videotapes to DVD. The only rarities I have on DVD right now are the Holiday Special, The Making of Star Wars & Empire (mastered from the laserdisc) and the Star Wars: SE Electronic Press Kit (mastered from the original tape/1st gen).

I was trying to download the 4 discs from Bittorrent but all i got was star wars before the sites were lost. Does anyone have any links that still work? I got about 90% of the supplements disc....about 15% of empire...and 0% of Jedi. I got star wars and am VERY impressed with the set.

Someone please PM me with a link? Or does anyone want to trade?
