Info: Star Wars Executor Boxset VHS (1995)
Time
However, it's nice to have the original, contemporary documentaries and trailers preserved in the best possible transfer, because no matter how "made-for-TV" those docs and features were, they're what we remember watching from our childhood days, and I guess that's why a lot of us are here on these forums in the first place.

No i completely understand.

my point is that from release to release...the transfer quality is probably not going to be different at all. For instance, I have the Classic Creatures VHS from it's original release (Playhouse video, I believe) and it's still in great condition. Burned to DVD and should be seeded eventually. But I doubt you're ever going to get it in much better condition unless something official comes out. I can't believe the difference in PQ from NTSC to PAL would be that different.

Splitting up 5.1
Time
Hypercube won't do anything else but 5.1 so if you ever want to so simple surround or other, you can't use it. Plus I like AC3 MUCH better. A lot quicker

I wouldn't use something that upconverted from 2.0 to 5.1. I want the original souce and nothing else. I don't even like "fake" 5.1 on official releases (like a lot of Paramount's, for instance).

1...2...5? Three, sir.

I'm assuming you're referring to the numbering on the Indy discs.

3 will be The Making of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

4 will most likely be the EPK for Last Crusade.

I am trying to get a complete copy of the "Heroes & Sidekicks: The Making of TOD" special but it seems like no one has one. I know of one person who has an edited version...so if anyone has any leads, I'd be open to it.

I probably won't be #ing any of the other releases besides Indy. I haven't decided yet.

Just a quick update:

I'm picking up Babyhum's mastering of two of the Indy specials so those should be up this weekend, barring anything else.

Also, sorry for the delay regarding Se7en but I wanted the sync to be absolutely perfect on the commentary and the movie so I completely re-did the first disc. It should be done by Friday and plan on working on the second disc this weekend.

So some good stuff coming up!!

I guess I do have an earlier version because all that extra stuff definitely isn't on there. Looking foward to downloading this. I'm assuming that the first movie is coming along? If not, I have that one as well.

Rikter,

I had the "official" version of this 2 disc set and it didn't have the making of Superman 2 on it nor the trivia track. Was there re-encoding done on this??? There had to have been because I don't think there would be room for that making of special if there wasn't. Personally, I'd rather have that special have it's own release rather than try to cram it onto this one.

Is the whole thing in 16x9 or just the parts where it's the original movie and the tv parts in full screen? My version is completely full screen.

I've heard of this and would love to see it. They also sell one of Se7en. Both apparently have atrocious quality so I never bothered but if I saw them, might be a different story. If anyone has a "hook up" i'd be interested.

Great extras, indeed. Too bad they probably lost the rights to them already and won't rerelease this on DVD... just as they won't release their short-lived "Spinal Tap" exclusive once again... :-\

Yup. good thing I'm doing my version

Of course, the editing suite won't be as exciting technically but I assure you, seeing several takes of Keanu doing the same lines (some of which are vastly [read: upsettingly] different). And then of course, the two audio tracks. I'm debating making this a dual layer.

The first 3 releases will be the two Raiders "making of" specials that have already been released and the making of Last Crusade. The Raiders specials will have a higher video bitrate and will NOT be using a PCM audio track. The original master was mono so there's no need for a large audio file when that could be going towards video quality. I'm sure you'll all be very pleased.
