As for Jaws: The Revenge-- aren't there missing scenes on the DVD? I remember reading about changes/cuts for home video versions, I think. I wonder if the sequels will ever get the royal treatment of Jaws I?

The original theatrical ending (which i personally like A LOT better) has never been seen on vhs, laserdisc or DVD. It only appears on the TV version (whether HBO or otherwise).

(other than to needlessly rewrite cinematic history for a beloved modern classic, Lucas-style?) This is what lands DVD's on ebay for jacked-up prices.

And why are so many 2-disc DVD's rereleased as 1-disc? The most confusing has been Spaceballs. It started as a single disc w/minimal features. It's finally released as a double-disc set, and simultaneously, the previous single disc was inexplicably replaced with yet another single disc version, with even less features than the first one. Not to mention the growing number of Independence Day rereleases. Is someone getting paid to make all of these pointless decisions?

I don't know what you're talking about but there's only 2 different versions of Spaceballs.

Se7en: Criterion Edition preservation set

I wouldn't be able to do it because that whole newsgroup thing screws me up. If someone else wants to post it there, I'm sure it's going to get passed around a lot.

In other news, I'm almost done making "snapshots" of all the various stills on the set. There are so many hundreds of them that it's taking some more time. They will be on the finished product as a slideshow.

Disc one is completely done.

Question: should i torrent these separately or in one torrent? I can't imagine someone wanting one disc and not the other. I should be done with disc 2 in the next couple of days. What do you guys prefer?

Sorry for the delay in all of this. I've been working on far too many projects at once. Have some music DVD's plus the ones for here...plus a few that are just for my personal collection.

Well, if you're in a native PAL country (as I am), then the difference between NTSC and PAL is quite noticeable- see Moth3r's transfers, for example.

Fair enough. Having never seen native PAL I wouldn't know the visual difference. All I know is that the AUDIO difference is enough to drive me crazy. That's why I don't use pal and convert what I have to NTSC.

However, it's nice to have the original, contemporary documentaries and trailers preserved in the best possible transfer, because no matter how "made-for-TV" those docs and features were, they're what we remember watching from our childhood days, and I guess that's why a lot of us are here on these forums in the first place.

No i completely understand.

my point is that from release to release...the transfer quality is probably not going to be different at all. For instance, I have the Classic Creatures VHS from it's original release (Playhouse video, I believe) and it's still in great condition. Burned to DVD and should be seeded eventually. But I doubt you're ever going to get it in much better condition unless something official comes out. I can't believe the difference in PQ from NTSC to PAL would be that different.

Splitting up 5.1
Time
Hypercube won't do anything else but 5.1 so if you ever want to so simple surround or other, you can't use it. Plus I like AC3 MUCH better. A lot quicker

I wouldn't use something that upconverted from 2.0 to 5.1. I want the original souce and nothing else. I don't even like "fake" 5.1 on official releases (like a lot of Paramount's, for instance).

1...2...5? Three, sir.

I'm assuming you're referring to the numbering on the Indy discs.

3 will be The Making of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

4 will most likely be the EPK for Last Crusade.

I am trying to get a complete copy of the "Heroes & Sidekicks: The Making of TOD" special but it seems like no one has one. I know of one person who has an edited version...so if anyone has any leads, I'd be open to it.

I probably won't be #ing any of the other releases besides Indy. I haven't decided yet.
