There is a difference between a tint and a fade.
The LPP scans we had all have a blue tint to them.
This scan was different.
There’s nothing faded about the print used for Return of the Jedi 4K. It is an answer print
that was 1 generation off from the negative, and has rarely ever been projected.
99.9% of all frames used in this project are sourced from one original 1983 35mm
Eastman print. The remaining 175 frames were sourced from an alternate 35mm print.
All frames were scanned, cleaned, stabilized, and color corrected in 4k (anamorphic)
from 35mm prints. The primary print used is NOT a release print but a special screening
print struck directly from the original film negative in 1983. It is presented with
it’s original film grain intact which is two generations less than what a theatrical
release print would have and only one generation from the original negative.

All the home video versions look completely different due to being mastered for television.
The theatrical look is an attempt to make the film look what it looked like in the theater.
Two completely different goals for the projects.
It says so right in the information file:
Color Timing: The color correction has been done on a reel-to-reel basis (mostly).
This preserves the color variations from shot to shot as they would have been seen
in theatres in 1983. A few deviations from the reel-to-reel correction have been made
to better conform to a TV/monitor environment, plus other minor adjustments. For the
most part it is a reel-to-reel color correction.

Well if you ignore anything that has to do with not calibrating your monitor. Then yes, this thread is great.

Just as a reminder. Scanned the Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark,
and Great movie stunts both from 16mm. At some point, when they’re ready for
release, I can post more details.
Haven’t seen the Making of Temple of Doom, but have both the Great movie stunts,
and the Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark on 16mm scanned. Those will come out
at some point.
Not a fan of Temple of Doom, so probably won’t look very hard for that, then
again, not sure if it was on film.
All 3 of the first Indiana Jones movies have ‘Making of’, and all them
are currently on myspleen.
It might be cheaper for people to get a new Bluray player, and one that
can accept USB drives, than buying new computers or laptops.
There should be some upcoming news about this over on the Star Wars Trilogy
forums, to follow up on this project.

However Empire will probably take a year or two,
it needs a lot more work on it from the looks of it.
If you joined the forum, you could actually keep up to date
on it, and wouldn’t have to ask.
At this rate you will hit 30 posts pretty quickly. Then all you have to do is wait 2 more months, and then you contact the person that will burn the discs for you.

It is simply a disc printing service to help fellow members have a nice/professional looking set.
The other 2 films will take awhile. However Return of the Jedi will be a lot easier, and probably be
done this year if it all works out. Empire Strikes Back will take a lot longer though from the looks
of it.
