Favorite line from the Star Wars saga.

“So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause” - Padmé

That line was completely unnecessary. Could have been accomplished with a facial expression and it would have been more meaningful

Disagree a lot here. I love this line and I don’t love many lines from the prequels but I adore it. Its such a politically tragic line.

But my favorite two, most inspiring quotes from Star Wars go to:

“I am Jedi, like my father before me.” It’s just so powerful. It’s the pinnacle of the saga. And the emperors face of pure confusion and surprise is golden. I describe this one line with one word…Triumphant.

“I don’t believe it.”
“That is why you fail”

This is my favorite scene of Star Wars. It’s the essence of the awe inspiring lore. This is the Yoda I know and grew up with! This is the Star Wars I grew up with! It’s just a beautiful scene that always has led me breathless since I first popped in the VHS 😃

Other Notable Entries

-“I care”
-“Impressive…Most Impressive”.
-“I love you know” “I know”
(ESB emotional version not ROTJ forced cheese version)

Was that an actual color regrade though? It kind of just looks like the saturation has been bumped up a notch.

Pretty much every change in ROTJ is complete rubbish however.

Good thinking.

Funnily enough I quite like the Hayden change though. Yeah it’s unnecessary, but at least there’s a reason behind it (the validity can be argued).

I feel that this change was very unacceptable. First on a logic level it makes no sense. If you have a young Hayden why not CG Yoda and Ewan. Then I would personally say that the whole “Hayden is the version of the time when Anakin was last on the light side” argument completely ruins the importance of his turn in Jedi. And then on a nostalgic level obviously (combined with the logical problems) it ruins ultimately one of the most happy moments of the saga. That is why that and Vaders “Noo” are so criticized. They were mindless dumb changes to incredibly critical and nostalgic scenes.

But Jedi Rocks? CGI Sarlacc? CGI R2D2? Vader’s “Noooo”? Jabba’s Palace door size and then shrinkage? What were the point of these?

Now your back on track.

I think the ESB SE ('97) is a tad better than the theatrical though, minus some wonky CGI.

Pull out your 1997 SE VHS and skip to one of the most memorable movie scenes of all time (cloud city reveal). Absorb the weight and importance of the scene as Luke is tempted, he chooses to rather fall to an inevitable death, wait…is that the Emperors scream, oh god WTF is this.

Hans Zimmers work on TDK trilogy I appreciated. Spider-Man scores I prefer though.

And when it comes to “Avengers” and “Age of Ultron” and how many superhero films hold up, I think Avengers, Cap 2, and TDK remain my three favorite. Age of Ultron isn’t a mess or complete crap like some say. It has its pacing issues and other flaws but I still find it an incredibly enjoyable expirence. Whereas Avengers holds up beautifully IMO. Pure fun all throughout. Winter Soilder is a captivating character piece set in a espionage/spy like plot that ultimately leaves you inspired and satisfied.

The Force Awakens : Fan Edit Ideas

That sounds really well done. For the third act this is my idea.

While the bombs are being set we cut to the trench run. The very end of it where Poe gets in is cut out for later. (normally is in middle of lightsaber duel). After Hans death, right before it cuts to Chewie blowing the explosives we cut from Rey and Finn desperately firing at troopers to Starkiller firing with order 66 music coming in (or “The Starkiller”). We cut back to Chewie blowing the explosives (music still playing), then Poe comes through the hole and blows up the base. Then during the lightsaber duel we cut to people evacuating. Because if you allow th trench run later on there is upbeat music. If you cut a lot of the happy reactions from Poe after its blown and rescore it then it could improve the third act a lot more.

Darth Lucas said:

I’ve mentioned this before but it is the attention to detail for the aesthetic that I love the most. I had the opportunity at a New Years party to meet the guy who was hired to create all the starfields for the movie. He talked to me about how they wanted him to do it in a relatively short amount of time and he begged for more so he could have time to do it right. He painstakingly painted in every star trying to match the look of the starfields in SW. And that effort was not wasted because the first time I saw the movie I looked at the starfield in the opening crawl and my first thought was “it looks like a slightly more blue despecialized starfield.”

It’s that dedication and attention to detail that’s present throughout the movie that I love. I mean, this guy could have created a perfectly fine starfield in a couple minutes for each shot just using some tools in photoshop or after effects or something, but you can tell everyone involved in the movie has a deep love for Star Wars and wanted to do it right.

Sure, the story is a bit re-hashy and all, but I’d take that over a film made by people just phoning in their work any day.

Beautiful analysis DL. Have u checked out “Secrets of the Force Awakens” doc yet? It totally shows you even more the dedication and love put into the film.

Sorry - wouldn’t count on it. V2.0 is still pretty good though 😃

Oh god what an understatement. V 2.0 is a fucking masterpiece harmy. I ABOSLUTELY love it. The colors are my favorite of any preservation/fanedit and the reconstruction is just done so damn well. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.

Showing my family my favorite Star Wars movie in its theatrical presentation was very special to me and I’d like to thank you again for your work.
