You mean like this?

Ugh. These sort of people drive me insane. This reminds me of the petition which vouched for the shutdown of rotten tomatoes because suicide squad and BvS got really low scores.

It reminds you of that because it is. It’s the same petition.

That petition wants Rotten Tomatoes shut down also but I’m speaking of a petition that specifically mentions Suicide Squad/BvS, and proposes a specific bias towards DC movies. What makes it even more ridiclous is that Warner Bros. owns apart of Rotten tomatoes. Same type of dumbass petition though 😉

Someone hasn’t seen The Nice Guys… Gosling was great in that!

From the article:

Instead, it has a 92-percent favorable score on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s crud! The Nice Guys is not 92-percent good! It’s like 70-percent good. Maybe less!

That’s not how Rotten Tomato scores work, buddy. I believe this is a troll post, especially judging by another one of his articles “Ryan Gosling Is Not All That Good Looking, IMO”

That’s where I really knew that the guy writing the article was an idiot. It astounds me how many people completely misunderstand how rotten tomatoes actually works.

yep. every time i discuss this movie with friends i find myself bringing up the fact that i really hope they eventually release a full length documentary about the process of making this movie. it would be fascinating. something along the lines of the King Kong production diaries.

I would kill to see Rinzler do a full behind-the-scenes treatment to Rogue One. What a book that would be 😃

It’s honestly so crazy how much has changed since that first teaser trailer. Whenever I watch the teaser, it just feels so weird since half of the entire teaser is not in the final film. I did not actually care that much that they removed certain stuff from the final movie, but the one shot of Jyn and Cassian running towards an AT-ACT seemed pretty cool haha.

I thought we learned this lesson last year, but here we go again.

Specifically: Please refrain linking to Rogue One clips of any camcorder theater bootlegs or anything else legally suspect. We really don’t know what the new Mouse Overlords might do, and we’d rather not find out. And if you see anyone posting such links, report it to the mods immediately. And don’t click on any such links, as they could be dangerous to your computer. Thanks!

I apologize Silverwook. Did not mean to cause any trouble and I will make sure to refrain from such actions. Again, I am geuninely sorry and did not mean to infringe upon the rules.

What the heck are you using as a source? I assume it’s pirated, whatever it is.

It’s a trashy telecine copy. I’m simply using it as a workprint like the user “^…^” is using for his Rogue One Extended Edition Ideas. I obviously will purchase the blu-ray since I fully believe in giving back to the companies who make such content.

Here’s a quick mockup of transitioning from the flashback to the present. It cuts out Saw Gerrera opening the hatch, which I’m curious if works or not. It is very sloppy editing by the way LOL
REDACTED

Please read the rules.

Back to the topic of Giacchino’s score, I found this bridge at 3:30 in “Tales of a Jedi Knight/Learn About The Force” from the Star Wars '77 soundtrack, it’s exactly the Jyn Erso theme from RO, take a listen:

https://youtu.be/soNidwqk1U4?t=3m30s

Personally, I think that section sucks as a main theme, it’s too simplistic, but it does sound like it was actually a callback to the original score for ANH.

Edit: It seems someone in the YouTube comments beat me to it

That’s pretty cool. I’ve seen people point out that Jyn’s theme is based in Dies Irae, which makes sense because there are a few direct quotations of it throughout the RO score, and of course SW before it (especially during Burning Homestead). I guess I never noticed it but that bit^ is definitely based in Dies Irae, which makes sense because it’s when Luke is rejecting his fate/destiny (which is of course flipped in the aforementioned Burning Homestead scene).

Yeah they mention both of these in the podcast linked awhile back. It’s very cool stuff, and amazing to think Giacchino was able to make it in four weeks. I’d never have been able to come up with little homages and references like that in a year.

Oh interesting. I was worried it’d just be some dudes talking about which music was “memorable” and “hummable” or something. Might have to check it out.

As for Giacchino, he said in an interview something about his brother I think encouraged him to take the job because he’s been writing it in his head for the last 40 years. So in some ways I feel like the homages might have been the easy part. Still, an amazing feat.

It’s really worth a listen. I don’t often post links like that so I make sure they’re actually worthwhile first hahaha.

I was just impressed that he made the music feel like ANH without directly copying it. It just slid right into the universe perfectly (in my opinion). I’ve said it before, but certain parts of the soundtrack sound like stuff that Williams did for ANH that got cut.

I’m listening to the Podcast now, this guy knows his stuff, looks like a good series, thanks. 😃

I usually only stick with Collider Jedi Council but Rebel Force Radio seems pretty awesome 😃

Am I the only one that likes the prologue scene? Krennic alone makes the whole thing awesome with his reactions to Lyra’s fake death.

No I really like it but it’s not an opening shot to a star wars film. It’s a flashback, and a flashback is all it will ever be. But It’s essential to the film but it just does not go at the start that is for sure.

STAR WARS

ROGUE ONE

The Jedi are all but extinct, the Senate is crumbling and in their wake, the Galactic Empire has engulfed the far reaches of the galaxy in fear by command of the EMPEROR.

Persecuted members of the Republic have been thrust into hiding. Only members of the REBEL ALLIANCE dare make a stand against the ruthless Imperial regime.

As the shadows of the Empire loom ever larger across the galaxy, so do deeply troubling rumors. The Rebellion has learned of a sinister Imperial plot to bring entire worlds to their knees. Deep in Empire-dominated space, a machine of unimaginable destructive power is nearing completion. A weapon too terrifying to contemplate and a threat that may be too great to overcome…

Very good crawl but the third paragraph is far too long.

Just finished listening to this INCREDIBLE podcast episode about the score of Rogue one, done by Michael Giacchino. It REALLY delves into DEEP ANALYSIS of the different tracks and their meanings and connections to the rest of the saga.

Nice OCCASIONAL capitalization you’ve got RIGHT THERE.

I should definitely reign myself in a bit more with my capitalizations when I’m excited LOL 😉

I just got Audio Technica ATH-M50X Headphones for Christmas and was very excited. The sound quality is wonderful. They have solid range and represent a very neutral take on all sound, giving a clear and soothing listening experience.

But God damn it, do they clamp like a son of a bitch! The clamp force is crazy! I currently have a headache because of how tight these headphones are. I don’t know if stretching them or getting some BrainWavz memory foam pads might help, but I really hope I can resolve this comfort issue.

I have never had this problem and I have a huge head.

Hmm interesting. I just ordered some brainwavz memory foam replacement pads. Hopefully those help. I also tried the method of stretching the headphones to reduce the clamping force and that seems to be helping a lot. Thank you for the advice everyone! 😃

Once again, the single greatest track in the entire series. And it lasts less than a minute.

Empirically. I don’t care who get’s mad at that because I do not give a fuck.

“The Immolation Scene” and “The Emperor’s Death” are just below it though.

“Immolation scene” and “Yoda lifts the X-Wing” are easily tied as my favorite Star Wars compositions.

I think the music when Yoda lifts the X-Wing is much more powerful when you watch the scene and in general watch the entire movie prior to that scene. The song itself is still amazing but I don’t feel as strong of an emotional response when listening to it outside of the film.

It does accompany my favorite scene of any star wars movie, so I guess it ain’t a surprise I like the piece of music so much 😉
