The extra contrast takes away the “film” look to me completely. REALLY liked the flatter one with “compromise” yellows though, seemed to be a great balance between “heavily stylized” and “raw camera footage.”

Wish we could all load into a van and go watch the tech with you! I hope that comes to fruition for you!

Yeah, I think I also prefer the less contrasty version. Here’s another version, where I’ve adjusted the highlights, such that there is less blowout:

Oh my, this looks BEAUTIFUL!

I wasn’t sure which was the best thread to stick this on, but I’ve decided on this one. Some of you may recall that a truncated version of the deleted ‘Chewie ripping an arm off’ scene was released a while back…but the whole thing has been made available to see now - complete with ‘time stamp’ of course, which I sadly feel will be the case with EVERY deleted scene going forward on future releases.

Unfortunately, it’s certainly not something I’d like to stick in my own ideal version of TFA anyway, as the way it’s been done looks kinda cheesy overall I reckon. Still, interesting to see I guess - www.io9.gizmodo.com/star-wars-sadists-can-finally-enjoy-watching-chewie-rip-1791231564

That’s fucking hilarious!

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

I prefer her being random. Being Obi-Wan’s granddaughter would feel forced. I don’t see how a reveal of such information about her lineage would change the story all that much. When Luke finally figured out Vader was his father, it affected everything. He was just lied to. Luke had already built up the image in his mind of a valiant warrior who was his father. Figuring out that the biggest baddie in the entire galaxy is your father is much more than figuring out your grandfather was just a noble Jedi. If they revealed Obi-Wan to be Rey’s grandfather it would be as if we never got ANY hint as to who Luke’s father was in episode 4, and then in episode 5, he figures out his dad was a good pilot and a friend of Obi-wan. It wouldn’t affect Luke all that much or the story. That’s why her being random or Luke’s daughter would be fine. Because it can tie into her childhood and actually affect her character in a meaningful way.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

And one of the best things about the scene is that he isn’t flipping around and dancing like in the prequels. He fights somewhat clunkily but he still kicks major ass. He kind of is like a tank that just plows through whatever obstacle is in his way. I feel like that sort of fighting style shown in Rogue One is entirely consistent with the OT but it still allows for him to be an absolute badass.

It’s now my third favorite scene in the entire Star Wars saga. And yes, partly because it literally is straight up star wars porn. And it’s the best of it 😃

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

Meh. Can’t believe how little I cared about the movie. The problem was with the human cast, which was a big ball of yawn. Nobody stood out and everyone was just uninspired. The apes were pretty good but every time a human was onscreen I felt like I was back on Zion instead of enjoying my time in The Matrix.

5/10

Arrival (2016)

Hey, a sci-fi movie with actors I enjoyed watching, how about that? What a great movie.

9/10

SPOILER REGARDING AMY ADAMS’ DAUGHTER AND SEEING THIS MOVIE JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER ALDERAAN ACTED LIKE A SHIT

It is always hard for me to watch a story about a parent that has lost his or her child, and this time my wife was right there next to me as we watched. Very emotional, but the real thing that stuck with me was how Louise knew what would happen and still decided to have her daughter even knowing she would die young. Hard to watch, and afterwards I was all like “Alderaan is a shit.”

I completely agree on Arrival Frink! Since I’m still in highschool, I obviously don’t have the parental perspective but that was some great insight 😃

I know this is an old thread and I don’t know if you still have any intention on removing more timestamps, but if you do I suggest the “Leia and the Resistance” scene from the 3D Blu-ray. I’d love to see this scene in Hal’s restructure but with the timecode that’s currently not possible 😦

Seconded, it’s a good little scene that could be nice to have back in the film.

Agreed!

Return of the Jedi - Remastered (Released)
Time

K guys, v2 is complete. I am pretty much set on my changes and I have fixed any technical issues I had with my edits. I have updated the first post with all the cuts present in my final version. Below is a list of all the changes that were SPECIFICALLY for v2. Now onto getting this listed at the ifdb. Thanks for all the support everyone 😃

v2 changes:

-When I rescored Chewie getting taken away with “Bounty for a Wookie”, I used a line from Boushh which happened to also contain the clicks of the detonator. This was a small audio issue that is in v1 but has now been fixed in v2.
-We no longer see Lando pull his mask down at all. In v1 he walks up and begins to pull it down but we don’t see his face. This made for a visually jarring cut. This is now fixed in v2.
-Trim Luke and Han’s dialogue scene on the skiff so it ends on Han saying “you’re going to die here, you know”
-cut Han and Lando’s conversation before rebel briefing starts.
-cut out Han’s “Keep your distance Chewy. But don’t make it look like your trying to keep your distance. I don’t know, fly casual” during shuttle sequence.
-cut out the useless exposition scene in the throne room where the Emperor tells Vader to go on the executor. It slows down the plot and is not needed.
-cut out R2 electrocuting the Ewok after the Ewoks decide not to eat them.
-added back in Naboo to the city celebrations but removed audio of “wesa free” thanks to the work of Q2.
-I also redacted a change where I intercut Lando and Wedge destroying the reactor with the Death Star preparing to fire. There are some minor technical issues that arise when it is edited that way so now Lando and Wedge destroy the reactor as seen in the theatrical cut. Which is still awesome nevertheless 😃

Yeah, I almost missed it the first time. I had earbuds in when I was watching that part so that might be why I caught it. You may be content with it but I just thought I would point it out to you just in case. If you decide to fix it, the easiest option would be to remove it, or use an earlier line of Boussh’s maybe.

This audio issue has been fixed for v2.

I liked Deadpool when it was focusing on breaking the fourth wall. Everything else … was kind of ugly.

Agreed. One of the best lines was about how empty the mansion was because of the budget that Fox gave for Deadpool. And the “McAvoy or Stewart” line also was fun. As Duracell said though, breaking the fourth wall was the best part of the movie. The other aspects didn’t work for me. It surprises me how much love this movie has gotten. It might just be the novelty of such a hard R comic book movie.

Great speech from Obama tonight.

i agree

The crowd was annoying and I felt as if they weren’t really listening, which was disheartening, but Obama’s one of our best presidents when it comes to public speaking, right up there with JFK and Reagan, which is probably why he decided to have a crowd in the first place. So he does well on his delivery, but Eisenhower on the other hand was not that great a public speaker, yet his message still resonates today. So, on the content, how does Obama’s speech fare? It addresses a lot of what was predicted, and was very respectful overall (Obama’s always been pretty respectful to the opposition, when some people were upset in 2004 about W. Bush getting a second term he said a lot of the same things about getting involved in politics and I quote “Get over it. Go to the movies, go to the park, go on a date - get some perspective. Losing an election is not a tragedy. Tragedies are my mom getting cancer at 53 and dying in six months.” Okay, so maybe a little more respectful than that.). It went over all he’s accomplished, and called for us to pay closer attention to one another. I don’t think there were any new revelations made here, in regards to bubbles and everyone has problems and we need to accept everyone etc., but it was very well delivered. Obama’s thanks to Michelle and Biden was very touching and surprisingly personal, he was very visibly tearing up. It was an interesting experience, not bad but not the greatest Farewell Address I’ve heard.

It was prettay, prettay, prettay good.

It was nice to hear a heartfelt, moral message not overcome in division or partisanship spoken by the president in this very partisan, divisive time.

Definitely agree with you here. His speech was refreshing and pure in a way.

I tried to watch The Phantom Menace for the first time in a while today and my god it’s boring. I couldn’t sit through it. For all the faults to be found in AOTC and ROTS, at least I can watch them all the way through and get some entertainment out of them.

Funny, I’m the complete opposite. I can watch Phantom Menace but find AOTC and ROTS completely unwatchable.

I guess I’m the just the final piece in the puzzle since I find AOTC pretty much unwatchable.
