Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released)

The scene that always bothered me, and it is still in your edit, it’s right after Mace says, “But which was destroyed the master or the apprentice?” Then the camera pans over to Palpatine to give it away to the audience who it is.

I love that! I always liked that we knew who he was from the beginning and we could see how he was manipulating the strings.

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)

There’s are two momens that I wish were removed from this amazing edit. Cordé saying sorry to Padme before she died, she was supposed to die if they were attacked. The other is Padme’s line,“You’ll always be that little boy I knew from Tatooine.” Who talks that way?

Learn Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas and make these slight adjustments and you’ll have your perfect version.

Improving the Original Star Wars

Thought this was pretty interesting, and might be controversial around here. Not sure if I agree with all of it, but I definitely agree with making Owen and Beru more likable. I got the same feeling of ‘relief’ when they died, honestly. I felt like they were an obstacle in the way of Luke’s destiny.

I agree with basically everything in this video.

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

If we look at the official canon (which informs the films), I would argue that the Jedi Order at the end of the PT as we have it now are no longer Jedi, but instead a bunch of decadent, complacent soldiers who were maybe more complicit in their downfall than Palpatine was. The public hated them, too (if you watch The Clone Wars, all this becomes even more apparent). Hell, even Yoda at the time was complacent and more interested in fighting than the Force.

Trying to go back to that, or evoking that time seems like it would be a mistake. The Jedi Order was not as infallible or even as good as we were lead to believe by the rose-colored glasses of the OT. In fact, even by the time we get to ROTJ, Luke more or less casts off what Obi-Wan and Yoda tell him (that Vader is beyond help and must be destroyed) and he proves them wrong. If anything, Luke in all his greyness is more a true Jedi than Yoda ever was.

This is how I always have saw it. It’s also why I have a theory that Luke is the true chosen one. When it says bring balance to the force I think it meant what Luke ultimately did. He learned to strike a balance between the light and the dark. The Jedi and the Sith were the two unhealthy extremes and the saga finished (until disney) with Luke becoming a grey jedi. That is always how I viewed the saga.

Sing Street - 9/10

Wow. This movie is a lot of fun. I’ve heard a lot of praise from natives of Ireland saying how accurate its depiction of 1980’s Ireland, but being an American millennial, I can’t relate. What I can relate to is interesting characters and some damn good music. I highly recommend it.

I’m so happy you were able to see this! It is one of my favorites of 2016. Really uplifting film.

Batman vs Superman: DOJ thread? (contains spoilers)

I only have 2 words for this thread, aside from liking the kind and honest discourse …

Wonder Woman … that is all.

😃

Wonder Woman rejects mortal humans, claiming that they have ruined the Earth forever, but still comes back to the mortal world because Lex… stole a digital copy of a picture of her? It was something like that I think. But she was pretty cool in the fight scene. My fingers are crossed so hard for her upcoming movie not to suck that they’re broken.

People always stress that Wonder Woman was easily the best part of the movie but I wasn’t impressed at all. Ben Affleck as Batman, hands down was the best part of the movie for me. Besides the killing. But his Bruce Wayne was spot on. And the warehouse scene was just incredible.

The theatrical colors of the Star Wars trilogy

I reduced the effect of the LUT in the project by 50 percent. While this variant does not have the same Technicolor look, the colors are retained and it falls more in line with the home video releases - and the white are no longer clipping! I also added additional green values in the highlights.

Here’s the LUT for download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1-W6ByLSZVKSHVmRFFYeG9Oamc

Now this is GORGEOUS! Well done, well done…

Awesome poster and then they decided to put a stupid black frame around it and then throw in an even more stupid Baby Groot photoshopped floating head.

So far, Baby Groot looks like the worst part of that movie purely because they keep pulling his scenes out to use for marketing because he’s so adorable and cute and hilarious! Look at him doing things that are funny because he’s so little!

It’s some Jar Jar Binks shit.

I absolutely agree. It’s the one thing that makes me nervous about Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Baby Groot was funny at the end of GotG but they are overusing the crap out of the “I’m Groot” line and Baby Groot. It’s actually really frustrating to see such a cool poster tainted by dumbass Baby Groot. Ugh, I can’t believe I just said that about what used to be a charming little guy. Marvel what have you done…

ROTJ has that horrible music sequence which drives me nuts. It’s a foreshadowing of the cringe-worthy moments in the prequels, me thinks.

I disagree that any scene in ROTJ is “horrible” but which music sequence are you talking about? I can think of a few.

that scene with Luke and Leia… it’s very close to the ‘I don’t like sand’

I made that meme specially LOL

this part scared the crap out of me when I was… 4 maybe? I can’t remember how old I was.

Yeah the droid torture is part of what makes Jabba’s palace such a scary place. You keep hearing people saying Droids feeling pain is nonsensical but it’s established in the other movies that they feel pain and pleasure. Star Wars ain’t hard sci-fi and never was.

Ok, point taken about the Luke and Leia scene…they’re not even the same sport.

But the horrible music scene that I was talking about is the one in Jabba’s Palace. I mean some say that it’s the special edition version that’s horrible but I went back to the original and they’re both very cringe-worthy…

I mean, this is just my opinion but I’m a musician and one of the reasons I love Star Wars more than anything is because it’s set in a different Galaxy and not having anything ‘Earth-like’ is very important to me. Of course, somethings are universal, the theme of family, the theme of good vs. evil but the music sounds like it’s taken straight out of a NYC lounge of the time. I hate the fact that it sounds totally like Earth funk-pop music. in ANH, John Williams did such a great job with the Cantina band song, it was influenced by many earth folk styles but blended together in such a way that it sounds ‘alien’. It’s awesome! Compare that to this piece and I just shake my head and try to forget about it.

I guess it’s not about the whole scene, not even the special effects, just the music itself. (including the singer)

This sequence is compeltely absent from my fanedit of Return of the Jedi 😉 (Shameless plug)
