Han Solo Movie Spoiler Thread

Just throwing this out here;
maybe what he meant to say was “how he made a name for himself”.

Han was already a fairly well know smuggler by the time of ANH, so this film might revolve around some big event that makes him famous in the criminal underworld. My guess would be some expansion on the Kessel Run as it hasn’t made an actual appearance in the new canon yet.

I hope it’s this. I would hate it to be that Han Solo is just his nickname.

Did I say I blamed them for doing this to make money? No, in fact I said the exact opposite. You’re arguing just to argue here. I also didn’t say it’s all mindless fan service. I said some of it can be fun, just tiresome after a while and not particularly original. Being original or not is not inherently good or bad. It just is. Something unique can suck, something derivative can be great. But if you do nothing but derivative stuff, even if it’s all pretty good, it melts together.

Did you see Moana? Zootopia? Finding Dory?

I loved Moana and Finding Dory but surprisingly found myself really disappointing with Zootopia. The sloth scene was the only memorable scene for me.

At the risk of losing all credibility here, I could see myself accepting the Hayden version if they do something with ghost Hayden that doesn’t suck in the new movies. On a recent episode of Collider Jedi Council, they addressed the rumor that Yoda will appear as a ghost in The Last Jedi, and someone made a point that if Yoda does end up talking to Luke from beyond the grave onscreen, there’s nothing stopping Obi-Wan, Anakin, and (less likely) Qui-Gon. It’s a lot of "if"s, but IF they do bring in Anakin for TLJ, and IF they use Hayden, and IF his performance isn’t bad, and IF it feels earned in the context of the entire film, I would be open to including a post-2004 version of ROTJ in my complete saga watch-throughs.

I actually really respect this opinion. And I definetly think that Johnson could pull a far better performance out of Hayden than most would think.

For every post you make asking the same stupid “is it delayed” questions, i delay the project by one month. so, after counting up the times you have said this so far, the project is now scheduled to be released in May 2187

😉

Adywan, you just made my day.

You mean like reverting to childish behaviour and mocking people for liking the prequels?
I would enjoy knowing why it’s okay for some people to be childish and mock people for their differing opinions, but not vice versa. I’d also like to know which lame justification I’ll get this time.
There are a lot of double standards here but I think the “you can’t disagree with me but I can disagree with you, and in turn mock you” may be the biggest one.
There’s not one sole perpetrator but the irony of arguments like these surely can’t be lost on everyone.

Nobody here is going to PrequelTrilogy dot com to bash the PT. If you want a place to discuss your PT love, maybe OriginalTrilogy dot com isn’t the best place.
Keep in mind that the only uniting thread we all share here is a love of the Original Trilogy. Don’t expect people to share or respect your opinion of anything else, but you are free to have whatever opinions your have on any subject. And everybody is free to state their disagreement and engage in debate.

Sorry Ray but this a very poor argument. If you follow your argument, the same could be said for TFA lovers: “If they want a place to discuss their TFA love, maybe OriginalTrilogy dot com isn’t the best place”.

There should not be double standards when it comes to PT lovers and TFA lovers.

I actually have to agree with impscum here. The argument that you shouldn’t express your PT love here because of the website tile is pretty weak.

Just disgraceful that Felicity won. Her character was one of the worst aspects of Rogue One for me.

At least she’s more developed than someone like Bodhi Rook.

Bodhi was an imperial pilot inspired by Galen to fight back. He chose to and is constantly trying to prove himself and his worth in the Alliance and then finally in his last moments he gets that fulfillment and knows he played an instrumental role in continuing what Galen started. Felicity had the benefit of far more screen time but her arc was far less tightly written and overall made for an ineffective and non believable arc in my opinion.

Let’s be clear: none of the things that have caused delays were created specifically to delay the release of this edit. Most, if not all, of the things that have been taking the longest were planned from the beginning. Delays were inevitable.

Don’t yell at me but do you know what’s going on with empire revisited? Did it get delayed again or did something happen to adywan is he ok?

Jesus Christ. I gotta stop visiting this thread or else it will drive me insane. The level of oblivious disrespect from you towards Adywan is astounding.

I don’t begrudge anyone liking the Disney movies, even if they do suck. It’s their preference. But it does suck to see the same three people, Hasbro, Fink, and DominicanBob policing every thread on the forum in their neverending, tens of thousands of posts crusade to stamp out negative sentiment and criticism of a couple of **** movies. Especially on an OOT forum.

I never feel as if they have ever tried to stamp out all negative opinions. I think that they have always defended why they like TFA with class and chivalry. I find their opinions to be valuable and interesting. For example, I agree with you that Han and Leia weren’t perfect in TFA. I thought Han was damn near perfect but Carries acting felt a little stiff and her and Hans conversation about Kylo still feels like it can be improved upon. She was fine but far from perfect for me.

I have an opinion and I respectfully explained why I feel such a way. Sometimes I think that Haseo, Cobb, and Frink get annoyed when users revert to childish behavior and mock people who like the Disney films. They are not policing people who disagree with them.

Rogue One Wins Three Empire Awards… (Best Film, Best Actress and Best Director)

https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2017/03/rogue-one-wins-three-empire-awards-gareth-edwards-talks-han-solo.html

Best Film? And Actress? Jesus Christ, I liked Rogue One but I think that is a little much.

Aye, I thought Ken Loach would get the Best Director for ‘I, Daniel Blake’.

For Best Film it was against Hunt For The Wilderpeople,

Heard wonderful things about this. Dying to see it.

Arrival, La La Land,

Being my two personal favorite films of the year, this is nice.

& Deadpool

Ugh

For Best Actress, Felicity Jones was up against Natalie Portman (Jackie), Amy Adams (Arrival), Ruth Negga (Loving), Emma Stone (La La Land).

Just disgraceful that Felicity won. Her character was one of the worst aspects of Rogue One for me.

And Edwards getting the Director award is fine by me. I would personally take Damien Chazelle over him but I respect his win. I think he really did an outstanding job.

I started watching Return of the Jedi at about 6am, and its issues outweighed the good for the first time. Honestly, it gets worse each time I watch it.

I have been going through a similar experience with ROTJ but I don’t think I’ll ever see it as being anything less than okay. What was the one aspect of the film that caused you to change your opinion?

Nearly every character is misused and flat compared to their dynamic counterparts from the previous films. Han has nothing to do and is stupidly jealous, Lando’s betrayal is not addressed, Leia could be interchangeable with anyone, the sister plot twist has never sat well with me, Vader goes from wanting to overthrow the Emperor to being fine with having Luke kill him to prove a point that doesn’t make sense, the “I can turn him to the good side!” is incredibly naïve and sounds very childish, “A certain point of view?!”, Boba Fett didn’t need to be in the movie, the Ewoks ruin the film’s pacing, I could probably go on. These issues just got to me where the parts I usually enjoyed couldn’t save the film anymore.

Damn that was a good dissection of the films issues. You actually are the one of the first people to be able to fully articulate most of my issues for me. Nostalgia has partially blinded my vision 😉

I don’t necessarily see that as a problem. Builds suspense, and an understanding of the force isn’t necessary to enjoy star wars anyway. The prequels are loaded with problems, I don’t think this is one of them.

I gotta disagree here. The explanation of the force by Ben Kenobi was an instrumental scene that I think was necessary to key us in on what essence of these movies were gonna be about.

Honestly I think sometimes you are so eager to be offended you just jump at the chance to be up in arms about something without taking the time to consider the actual meaning of what is said.

+1. Moviefreakmind has made some good points which is that it should be okay to criticize certain parts of a culture. The treatment of women in Islam is an example of this. Cultures are fantastic and interesting to learn about and being willing to learn new things from these cultures is what I find is most important.

I know that a lot of fans who talk about the prequels as though they’re the worst films ever tend to watch them from time to time. I actually don’t think the prequels are among the worst films ever, but I don’t enjoy them at all and I plan on never watching them ever again. If any of you are here, what exactly is the appeal of revisiting and somewhat frequently rewatching films that you can’t stand?

I simply won’t ever watch the official blu rays of the prequels I own. They’re simply there so I can feel fine watching fanedited versions. But even then, I usually just stick to the OT.
