People, your challenge for the day is to pull up the scene where the tech guy tells Hux the weapon will be fully charged in 30 seconds, taking in his voice. Then, record yourself saying, “Weapon reprimed in 30 seconds” at least twenty times and send it to me. I mean you.

I’ll channel some inner English and see what I can do.

UPDATE: audio equipment ain’t up to snuff.

Hiring a voice artist could be a good idea.

Seems like there will either be a V3 (if TLJ prompts any reconsiderations) or V2.1 (if only minor tweaks are called for). I’ll put off upgrading to High Sierra, as after that point I’ll no longer be able to work with all the things I’ve done using Final Cut Pro 7. With my life preparing to change soon, if V2.1 is the path to head down, I’ll want to expedite that. We’ll know for sure inside of a week, I guess.

NeverarGreat, if you wouldn’t mind, please send that Starkiller shot I apparently missed, and the Leia deleted scene recolored whenever you can.

I definitely think that I am more desiring of a v2.1. Fixing the snoke scene is really all that needs to be done. As RogueLeader said, after the Last Jedi, if people want to improve it further than they could use 2.1 as a base. But after doing a few quick tweaks, I think you should be good to upgrade from Final Cut 😃

The updated version of the smoke cleanup is among my Mega links. SirRidley had also previewed a version of that shot on YouTube which looked even better than that (at least in low-res), I don’t know if that ever got rendered.

You regretted V1? As in the quality wasn’t all you had hoped for, or you had second thoughts on the concept?

I hope that there is a V3 at some point, if only to give it that extra shine that it could have had with only a week or two more work.

I’d love to see a v3 as well. I think waiting until the Last Jedi is released will give us enough information to be ready to perfect the edit with a possible v3.

Yeah, the “VIII Days” TV spot had something in it I’d rather not have seen, so I think I’m going dark from here on out.

Please stay away from this if anyone has not seen it yet. Can’t believe what Lucasfilm decided to spoil in it. I can tell the marketing is getting much more spoilery on their end.

Return of the Jedi - Remastered (Released)
Time

I finished an alternate version of this which is a lot more heavy on the cutting end of things. So all the cuts/restructuring below is in addition to the existing cuts of v1. If anyone wants it, then I guess I could upload it and respond to any PM’s.

I had three goals with this alternate version. 1) cut out more of the silliness and gibberish, 2) make Vader feel more independent and his turn more believable, 3) restructure the entire third act.

Specific changes below for each goal:

Cutting out the Extra Rubbish:

-cut out all of salicious crumb laughing
-cut out the laughing of Jabba’s creatures when Han and Leia are captured
-cut out scene of Han and Chewie reuniting
-cut down rancor scene to avoid some of the poor special effects and get the story along since the scene doesn’t serve much purpose besides “hey, look at this cool monster fight”.
-cut out Jabba pulling Leia back from sail barge window and talking to her
-cut out C3PO asking why R2 is serving drinks
-cut out 3PO asking them if they want to plea and Han’s cheesy response. Now 3PO just says Jabba hopes they will die honorably and then Luke warns Jabba it is his last chance.
-cut out Boba Fett completely from sail barge fight
-remove Salicious pulling out 3PO’s eyes and R2 zapping him
-remove more shots of ewoks after Han, Luke, Chewie, R2, and 3PO cut themselves out of the booby trap.
-remove more cutesy shots of ewoks during feast

Make Vader more independent and his turn more believable:

-remove Vader saying “I must obey my master”. Now he just says “You don’t know the power of the dark side”. Vader should be confident in what he believes is right like in ESB, rather than doing it just cause of the Emperor. For goodness sakes, he was plotting to take over before this film.
-remove Vader saying “It is too late for me son.” Way too obvious of foreshadowing, cheapens his eventual turn, and makes Vader seem like he already knows that what he believes in is wrong and misguided. This moment of self revelation for our characters is meant to happen at the END of the arc.
-remove the Emperor saying “You must know by now your father can never be turned from the dark side.” This just sounds plain stupid and makes the Emperor think of Vader as some prize that he has fooled. Vader should feel like a respected ally and learner of the Emperor.
-remove Vader saying “It is useless to resist.” What is this, some sort of shiny object called the Dark side being dangled in front of Luke. This makes the dark side feel less complex.
-remove the Emperor saying “You, like your father, are now mine”. Again, my point stands. Why is the Emperor talking about Vader like some fool he tricked and has under his leash right in front of Vader? There should be more respect between such two powerful and ambitious men who have similar goals.
-cut out the Emperor telling Luke that if he picks up his saber that his journey towards the dark side will be complete. This just makes Luke look like an idiot. Instead the Emperor basically just tells Luke his friends and the alliance will die and that there is no hope. This actually now makes more sense as to why Luke would fall into the temptation of attacking the Emperor.

Restructuring the third act:

I always felt it was odd that the Endor/Space battles are basically about to be won by the time we see Luke and Vader have their heroic triumphs in the throne room. Those triumphs should be followed by things looking better in Endor and Space so the new scene order reflects that.

A word of warning: the TLJ Visual Dictionary has leaked and photos of every single page are bouncing around the internet. I read the Luke and Snoke sections and found it to be a lot of cool lore and no real plot spoilers, but then the Leia entry was very spoilery and I stopped reading. I’m told the Poe page is even worse. Proceed with caution.

Can confirm. Tread lightly folks. I couldn’t resist myself and now I know the first half of the movie.

Here is my final cut, including music:

pass: hux

I believe this music works fine, and I would personally prefer to only use John Williams’ music if possible. But this is how the scene plays out now, so you can make something for it.

Sounds very seamless to me. The only criticism I have is what I posted before. It should either start with Hux telling Snoke of the Republics destruction or if the intention is to imply that they talked about that off-screen, then Hux shouldn’t start with “Supreme Leader, …” as that sounds like the first sentence of a conversation.

Understandable, but in Hal’s words from last page: “I totally agree that such dialogue would be great to have there, but I don’t think the existing material to work with yield something worthy of inclusion.”

I don’t know if it would be good to imply that they’ve been talking by seemingly beginning in the middle of a conversation because either way the left out conversation is still just in our “headcanon” and audiences watching wouldn’t necessarily come to the conclusion that they had that exact conversation just by leaving out “Supreme Leader”. And the imagined left out conversation can still make sense with how it’s presented now.

Would it not be possible to include the video game line and add a slight echo to all of Hux’s lines to help it blend? I like the line a lot, and he is speaking loudly in a vast chamber.

It would be possible, but I don’t think it would sound great. And I still think it’s a problem how there’s no reaction or acknowledgement from Snoke. Perhaps if you use the “good” from later, but that’s still an underwhelming reaction. And the “swept aside” line itself is not dramatic enough, in my opinion. They blew up planets, they’re not “aside”, they’re gone forever.

So I don’t know, it can be done, but the result wouldn’t be seamless enough.

I think the “it is wreckage” line works. After Alderaan was destroyed there sure was a lot of wreckage. The planet is gone but you can sure bet there is wreckage so if that line could be put in more seamlessly than the video game line (which I agree does not sound good enough), then I think that would work.

Although I’d prefer some acknowledgement from Hux about the Republic, I totally understand if it doesn’t make the cut. Onward!

I definitely feel your sentiment there Neverar! However I do agree with the others that currently there is no way to implement it that is seamless but I do wish there was more material on the Republic after it is destroyed.

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

I’d like to put a vote in favor of changing the line to “Your mother once thought as you do.” Literally the scene before we hear more about Vader’s previous wife, and then this line helps expand her character. Of course I consider all of these things as if the prequel trilogy never existed 😉 Which makes it even more of a reason to have that line in there.

Ask the Muslim! (a.k.a. interrogate the Muslim)
Time

I am curious about what your thoughts on Sharia law are?

I often found it similar to the ridiculous content in the old testament in which God commits genocide for one person being gay. And it annoys me to no end when people think they can attack Sharia law but not admit the faults of their own holy book.

Nevertheless I still feel like both set of the teachings I refer to are quite reprehensible from a modern moral sense and am curious how you reconcile the teachings of Sharia law within your own personal beliefs?

And thanks for putting the thread up! I could use some more first hand knowledge on this religion which most definitely has so many beautiful aspects to it and I have a close Muslim friend of mine who I never have the nerve to talk to about his religion.

I remember Hal had some audio export issues on his PT, with side channels ending up being merged. But he used premiere pro if I remember correctly. Your problem is that when you render a 5.1 audio file it gives you a 5.1 audio file but with 4 empty channels. Could be something missing in your vegas pro lib file or else ?

I think he used Final Cut Pro.

It’s actually stitched-in with the blu-ray due to the unnatural colors. The only parts that were left in is some Endor scenes, the entire Sarlacc Pit fight and that’s about it.

Actually the main source was Harmy’s despecialized edition. Only time the blu ray was used if I recall were the following scenes:

-Most of the Rancor scene (updated effects)
-Rebel briefing scene
-Ending celebration

Thor Ragnarok

Not sure how to feel about this. It has some great jokes but I feel life if I were to fanedit it, there are many serious moments that would have worked so much better if you took out a stiff joke that already feels very shoved in.

The set design and music in the film were highlights, and I really started to like it more towards the end, but it did feel a bit hollow.
