Do you know how when you drive a different car than you’re used to and you need to mentally readjust your sense of the width and height when driving in close to walls etc but how after a while you just get used to it and know without looking how much space there is?

Well, the new positioning of the Falcon’s dish makes me wonder if Lando had forgotten that it wasn’t still laying flat when he flew it through the Death Star in Return of the Jedi.

I bet after he said, “That was too close” he thought to himself, “…and it never would’ve happened if you’d kept it in the same place I installed it, Han old buddy.”

This was a surprisingly insightful read. I never thought of it that way.

I agree. The heart of the movie was the interplay between Luke, Rey, Kylo and Snoke. And almost all of it worked for me. That’s why I like the movie overall, despite the fact I felt the other storylines were flawed and dragged it down somewhat. Whatever you think about the plot holes of the space chase or Finn’s prequely adventures on Canto Bight, you’re ought to love the movie if you feel the story of the “Force” characters were satisfying, and hate it if you don’t.

This is really what it comes down to. The Last Jedi will stick with me far more than TFA (which I liked) since it just did the core characters so well in my opinion. The interplay of Luke, Kylo, and Rey was the heart of the movie and I think RJ knocked it out of the park, so despite Canto Bight and a bit too much humor for my liking, I still really love the film and think it’s the best since Empire and SW. It simply hits me on an emotional level that TFA failed to reach.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion NON SPOILER THREAD

I think it would be interesting to continue following Luke in Ep 9. We could see his spirit traveling to some strange force world (like Mortis) and meeting with other force ghosts (Ewan?) which would shed light on what happens after death, culminating with Luke and the rest helping defeat Kylo or whoever the big bad is. This would be a bold and new direction for the saga and also bring it full circle.

Not gonna lie, I love the idea but sadly I feel strongly that JJ will never even think to stray into this territory. If only RJ could have done episode 9 as well. Which is blasphemy to some people but his bold decisions were great for me in TLJ.

Is Black Panther as good as people are making it out to be? Marvel movies have recently been falling so flat to me (despite most of them getting great reviews) and feeling like basically CGI messes that I really am not excited even with all the praise.

I’ll be honest here. I enjoyed it well enough but it doesn’t live up to the hype. It’s nowhere near the Winter Solider or The Dark Knight which are my two favorites superhero movies. And there is a fair amount of crappy CGI throughout if your not fond of that. But it’s still a darn good movie. Just not great.

Black Panther - 7/10

Very enjoyable experience overall! Best Marvel villain yet in my books, the Wakandka sections were fascinating and it was led by a great performance of Chadwick Boseman. I felt that it’s pacing was a bit off at a certain point in the film where I felt more time should have been taken to show a certain section but nevertheless, everything still worked well enough. CGI was also a bit off at some points and the story was a bit derivative. But for a marvel film, it was fun and refreshing.

This moment made zero sense for Finn.

Why?

Because his character arc isn’t about self sacrifice or the lack thereof. Everything about him running away from fighting was resolved in TFA.

No, in TFA he’d never sacrifice himself for a cause. For Rey maybe, which is the reason why he went to Starkiller Base and the reason why he was going to defect, but not for a cause. Not for something bigger than himself. It was still selfish of him, because he was running away from a fight bigger than him for personal reasons. His arc in TLJ was that, while at the beginning of the movie he wasnt willing to do almost anything for the rebels, by the end he was willing to give his life if it meant that the rebellion could live longer.

Yeah, despite the clunky stuff in Canto Bight, I actually feel that Finn’s arc was very natural and fleshed out. It’s actually making me reconsider how much of Canto Bight I really want to cut.

So good. Very varied sound, and has to be commended for the DIY production of the record. The “Regional at Best” title is a bit ironic now, considering how much Twenty One Pilots have blown up since the album came out.

Some of this and other stuff from their first album are really all I like anymore from twenty one pilots. Their fan base is insufferable and their newer work is a bit meh for me.

Lol, I picked up Vessel on CD at a Best Buy on a whim about a year before they really took off. I like that one, but I haven’t listened to much outside of that.

Vessel is only good in my opinion since it carries over half of what was on Regional at Best and those songs are my favorites from Vessel. I personally think if they really want to capture my attention that they get a full crew with guitars and start going full rock. Cause their songwriting ability is pretty solid in my opinion.

You can cut pretty much all but one scene from Canto Bight, where DJ’s character is first introduced.

Or you just have them leave for Canto Bight, and we see them next on the way back already with the codebreaker when Poe calls. No need to see anything of Canto Bight.

That is what I planned to have in my edit, but I realized something about the pacing was off.

Did you attempt moving around the scenes more? Check the scene order for my edit. I restructured it in light of the story changes I would be making so as to polish the pacing.

It has been confirmed as the funniest Star Wars movie to date, apparently.

Good grief. The humor has begun to get a bit overboard in the new films for me. Rogue One had a nice balance of humor similar to the OT which only has a few subtle jokes. And I’m quite sure a western noir isn’t meant to be the funniest movie in a franchise that has the prequels and TFA+TLJ.

George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass - 10/10

After looking through this thread I’m quite sure that we have been listening to the same albums in the same order for the past week or so.

But yes, this album is incredible.

Ha! That’s interesting. What do you want to listen to next?

I quite like “Deja Vu” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Pretty classic rock album.

The new Spock doesn’t work. He’s meant to be an emotionless Vulcan but actually translates onscreen to being a constantly grumpy and irritated dude. You also have no reason to believe he would become best friends with the new Kirk who is basically boiled down to being a jock flyboy who’s main thing is just to disobey every order.

TLDR: The new Star Trek movies minus Beyond (which is delightful) are dumb action movies with poorly written characters.
