Going away? Post so here!
Time

Thanks for the thoughts guys. You sure know how to make a guy feel guilty. It’s all good busy and I’m still here. Maybe better to say I’m turning to lurker status. I’ll still post once in a while and maybe be a more lively participant in the future. Just too much commitment for now. Seriously, its nice to be appreciated and I truly appreciate you letting me know. I really like you all and now its harder to commit to a more productive life since this site will keep calling to me.

My use of this site is fading. I log in most days on the phone to check the threads I care most about, but I seldom have time to post, leaving me much less interested in starting a discussion I know I cannot continue, thus further disincentivizing any posts. So while I am not truly gone, I probably won’t post much in the future. Just too busy with real life and such.

So not truly goodbye, but sort of a see ya later to most. I’ve enjoyed my time here and will continue to enjoy reading and occasional posts. I’ve appreciated the friendships of those on this site and the intellectually stimulating discussions. If there are any who avoid off topic because of me, feel free to resume entertaining the world because I know there are those who miss you. So long (sort of), my friends.

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4

That is of course correct. Even on my board I made the right move, just mistyped it. I meant R-h.

You know, I know Jay’s unhappy about people complaining, but I’m having a really hard time enjoying the site as is. I know there are suggestions flying, but I wonder if I might be better at responding if we use a different format to exchange moves. Maybe keep an eye out for an online game play by email type site or something.

Sorry, I couldn’t figure out a good move, then the migration, then a little distaste with the new forum software (no offense if you’re reading this, Jay–it just takes getting used to), on top of a busy week. My apologies.

Not a whole lot of good options. Truth be told, I’m tempted to resign already. But I’ll stick it out for a bit.

Did anyone celebrate Columbus Day last week? Because he was the greatest mass murderer in history pre-20th century. He was the father of imperialism, and completely indefensible as a person. Nearly all of the native population in the Americas was wiped out by diseases he brought over from Europe, the tailspin of the sixth mass extinction started here, and the Atlantic slave trade could not have existed without him. If the masses knew the truth about Columbus it would produce anti-american sentiment at home, so they have to lie about the man to keep the country in line. Columbus wasn't the Stalin of the 15th century; instead, Stalin was the Columbus of the 20th century.

The great value in your posts is not their profundity but the good laughs I get from your excessive hyperbole.

Gosh, I can't even imagine such weather.  When we hit temps that low, it's a particularly cold winter day, and may hit once a year or less where I live.  We don't even reach freezing most days in a winter.

Thanks for sharing the Thanksgiving info.

And now I must confess that you are playing very well.  This may be the game of my undoing.  I think you haven't yet beaten me in a regular shogi match, though you have in some of our variants (correct me if I'm wrong), but this may terminate my streak. :)
