See? I’m already off to a bad start–not because I made a stupid move, but because I quickly looked at what you wrote and misread and moved the d pawn instead of the e pawn on my phone. I assure you I would never make such a stupid move in reality. If you want, we can carry on from here, but if you are willing, I would have rather matched your opening with e5.

Ok Darth, since Warbler has deemed me your next challenger, I’ll give it a try.
I don’t know how this works, but it looks like you’ve been letting challengers move first. If that’s still ok, and presuming we just jump in, I’ll try:
1.e4

Be aware that I will be much busier for the rest of the evening and may not have time to make many more moves. If I do, it will likely only be a few.

Revenge of the Jedi (The Snooker edit) (Cancelled: *unfinished project *)

Considering Lando has already been in place, I don’t know that the Falcon would be necessary to show anyway. Luke’s X-wing would probably be enough.

I hope you will use the original name for the Imperial capital: Had Abbadon. The only place you could put it is in the crawl, however.

If the Rebels lose, what will be the victory? Considering this would clearly be the “end” of this version of the Star Wars saga, there would need to be some redeeming, happy ending I think. Han dies, the Rebels lose, Vader is redeemed but dies, and the Emperor dies…I’m not sure it’s enough of a victory. Will the non-Death Star space station be destroyed as well in spite of the lost battle? It just seems that the Rebels need some sort of consolation prize to me.

I tried to get an idea of your level by looking back at your last two games against Warb and oojason – but it’s hard to tell because you are clearly much stronger than they are. The only move I wondered about was why you didn’t play e5 against Warbler - I thought that was the point of the previous move. Although, your pawn structure was so much better by then I thought maybe it was actually easier to win your way and that you did that on purpose.

Oh, that was just pure stupidity on my part. I was just trying to weaken his center and wasn’t even paying attention to the obvious fork. I play like that a lot: I make several great tactical moves, then some stupid error creeps in because I’m not paying attention.

Speaking of mods, isn’t oojason ahead of me in line?

Darth Ender already defeated him. Also, as far as I know, oojason never played chess professionally.

YeGods, I certainly have never played professionally. Has Darth?

No, and I’m sure you’re better than me, but it could still be fun!

I’ve decided to organize and hereby forthwith do declare the founding of:

The OT.com Chess Federation©®™(OTCF©®™)

I declare myself its first commissioner and of course recognize Darth Ender as OT.com chess champion.

The game between Darth Ender and Puggo shall go on as before.

The OP might have something to say about all this.

I am the OP.

Under what conditions is a challenge match typically played? Rough timeframe per move? And I’m assuming no consulting with books/computers, right?

We’ve always played pretty casually: no time limits as long as moves are waiting days and days. Playing even a single move a day has been common. I think we’ve played by gentlemanly rules of no books or computers–just using our wits to guide us.
