I was recently promoted to be the interim director of the behavioral health department of my hospital! 😃

I think people missed my modification to this post when I posted it in the good news thread because all I got in response was a joke about talking to myself 😉

That said, I have a fairly small department, which means I only have a few people in key areas. A month ago, all was going well. I’d lost a lousy social worker and a good former social worker had agreed to come back to work for us. Well, since then, that social worker decided to take a job in Tucson instead, my other social worker is moving to the hospice department, and my utilization review case manager had to leave suddenly due to family issues (she made sure we got paid by insurance companies, who can deny payment if they don’t receive needed info in a timely manner). So I’ve been struggling to replace these folks because they are essential for running a behavioral health unit. It’s been very stressful.

Lesson: Create redundancy so you don’t have to rely too much on lone key people. You can bet I’m going to train multiple people to do the same job from now on!

I don’t know what everyone’s beef with yhwx is. You all need to be more tender.

I find him a bit too salty for my tastes.

Perhaps he just needs to learn to take your ribs.

Are you saying I should throw him a bone now and then?

I’m just saying you don’t have to take him to the butcher’s every time he did something goofy. Get up outta his grill , yo!

Come on son, post some. We miss you.

One of my favorite things about posting on this site is interacting with Frink. His humor is fun to bounce mine off of. But you can’t let your presence here be defined by him. He’s obviously teasing you, and you care too much about what he thinks. Just be you, man. You’ve got your own sense of humor and I enjoy it.

Look, man, I just want to be loved. It’s fine, though… totally fine. 😭

Then you need a woman…someone who can cause your loins to burn.

While it is obvious generalfrevious is very depressed, continuing to respond to his hyperbole only promotes further exaggeration. He is here only for attention. I do believe he needs help, but when we respond, we only strengthen his behaviors. The best bet is to leave him alone unless he wishes to engage in more rational discussion. I’d love to read that he has sought help, but I no longer will engage him until I see some effort on his end.

Ron is a good solid choice. I don’t know if he’s the sort who has a “vision”, but he’s helmed plenty of complicated FX heavy films.

Maybe he can work in a real zero gravity sequence shot aboard the Vomit Comet as he did for Apollo 13.

I’ve always felt he’s a competent and underrated director. I enjoy A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Cinderella Man, and Willow for instance. In fact, his handling of Willow (yes, I know critics didn’t like it much, but I love it!) gives me confidence in his ability to handle a Star Wars movie.

I don’t understand the problem with changing the race of a fictional character. The race was made up to begin with.

This is true, but sometimes a person’s emotions can be invested in even the appearance of a character. It is not just about race and can be about something as simple as hair color. Heck, how many people complained about Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal of Lex Luthor, and he was also white? Saying it was just his twitchy behavior doesn’t alone account for it, I don’t believe. He didn’t look the part, and even if he’d portrayed a much more sane version, he still would be difficult to accept as Lex. Similarly, if someone were to take Storm from X-men and make her white, it would be a massive challenge to accept the change. I can’t imagine anyone would be pleased with such a change.

That said, I do not believe changes are always difficult. Like I said, I thought Billy Dee Williams was a great Harvey Dent and really would have loved to see his Two Face. While Daredevil (2003) was not a great movie, I thought Michael Clarke Duncan was amazingly well suited to play The Kingpin.

It does not automatically make one racist to be invested in consistency in a character’s appearance across different media.

It is admittedly difficult to change the race of some characters, but really, Harvey Dent could have easily been played by Billy Dee Williams, and I would have enjoyed to see his take on the character. As was said, Tommy Lee Jones could have done a good job if he’d played him straight. Jones is a great actor. But I thought Williams could have really taken an interesting approach.

Uh, he did play Harvey Dent in the 1989 Batman movie?

It’s Two Face he was denied until the Lego Batman movie this year.

I off course knew that. I meant Harvey post-accident, but I should have written Two Face.

JEDIT: stupid autocorrect, and now I can’t fix it because it made it into the lurker names thread.

Episode V: The Ridiculousness Strikes Back
Time

If you have Brian’s Song, there are some potentially useful lines for Lando.

From this exchange (found on IMDB, as I haven’t seen the movie for ages and can’t find the scene on YouTube):

Brian Piccolo: I said thank you.
Gale Sayers: I know.
Brian Piccolo: Well, usually when someone says thank you you’re supposed to say you’re welcome or How’s Your mother?
Gale Sayers: How’s your mother? ?
Brian Piccolo: She’s doin’ fine, thanks for asking.

You could pull the line, “How’s your mother?” when Han and the Gang arrive at Cloud City.

You could have Leia confess her love to Lando instead of Han, and Lando could respond, “I know.”

Just thought I’d take the time to quick post about just why my projects have all been so slow…I’ve had to deal with depression, anxiety, and now recently diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder for many years. I had left it so unchecked for so long, it was really wearing on me. It had gotten to the point I stopped doing much of any of my hobbies having lost motivation and struggling with panic and rapid mood swings.

Since the end of April, I’ve been in constant treatment and getting my life back around. I’ve had some serious suicide attempts, one of which landed me in the ICU.

I’m finally taking charge of my life for the better.

And also I’m now a transgender female, of which my family hates being the transphobics they are…so really feelin’ the love there. SIGH… So there’s much business and craziness in my personal life.

I’m so sorry for your difficulties. We’ve got your back! I’m glad you’ve gotten some help. Silly Star Wars projects can wait. Take care of you first! 😃
