Gosh, if I'd realized these would all be Star Wars related tabloid headlines, I'd have changed the name and placed it in the General Star Wars Discussion forum.

Designing a board game
Time

I don't want to say much about it, as I'm keeping some of the concepts pretty close to the chest.  However, this will be a war game, and I'm trying to determine worldwide resource distribution.  Economics will play a relatively simplistic but crucial role in the game, and so I'm trying to determine the following resources:

Energy: this represents the fossil fuels, i.e. oil or coal.

Ore: this represents the metals to construct your war machines, i.e. iron and copper.

Cash: this actually serves a doubled representation, both as actual capital as well as manpower, i.e. higher population areas are worth more cash.

I'm looking for good maps online that could assist me in determining how resources are distributed throughout the world, but most aren't all that helpful.  I need to rather realistic regional representation, not merely that Iran and Russia as a whole produce a bunch of oil or natural gas.  I need to know population density (actually, I've got a pretty good map of this, but any suggestion is helpful) and industrial regions (i.e. Hong Kong).  Any suggestions/hints will be recompensed in the next life :)

The Weak Atheist Thread
Time

I was fondly reminiscing about twooffour, with whom I got along so well.  I miss him telling me what I think, what my motives are, and I know you feel the same.  Since I started the Religion thread, and since there already exists an Atheist thread, I thought it would be wise to have a Weak Atheist thread for all you in-betweeners.  Remember, there are no agnostics, non-religious, doubters, or spiritual atheists; only weak atheists.

One Film to be Preserved...
Time

According to Wikipedia, all of these fit that description:

So maybe I can change my vote so we can preserve Star Wars episodes II and III!!!  I know you all agree with me here!

Yes, he did. And never fear, Nolan will explain how he did so through a series of contrived and convoluted explanations.

This sounds like a subtle indictment of all the films being contrived and convoluted. I admit that any film with a conflict usually is somewhat contrived, as the odds are usually against the good guys, but they still pull it off.  But I never felt that the Nolan Batman films were unrealistically or overly contrived.  Perhaps convoluted, but I don't see the contrived part.  Please explain.

Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

Still haven't watched the final trailer, though I did break down and urinate, and since then I just can't seem to stop.  I'm not steering completely clear of the news right now, though.  I thought this was a fun article.

At this site, Gotham's big newspaper has some interesting stories.  I like the viral marketing campaigns that they've done for this and the last film.  What was most especially interesting to me was the horoscope, which is obviously alluding to the various characters in the film. For those Virgos among its readers:

"Someone from your past will make a surprise appearance."

I was speculating with my nephew on the film yesterday.  I really wonder if they are going to simply have flashbacks to Ra's al Ghul, or if he will somehow make an appearance.  In the comics he always perpetuated his life with his Lazarus pits.  He made a potential allusion in the first film about being "immortal" with "supernatural" methods.  But Nolan's take is clearly more realistic than the comics, but I found it strange that Nolan chose to actually kill off Batman's most dangerous nemesis (at least in terms of worldwide influence, sanity, and perpetuity) in the very first film.  Did Mr. Demon's Head survive the crash, somehow?

I was crazy into Erasure back in the early and mid 90's.  Not as much now, but I still have most of their music from that period on my phone.

I didn't know they were even around when you were in your 90s.  They formed in the early 1980s, around what I believe was your 123rd birthday ;)

In all seriousness, you were always pretty cool, but you just jumped up fourteen points on the official Ender Coolness scale.
