Kings James Version? Pfft. New Revised Standard Version or bust.

eh. New International Version or New Living Translation.
2011 NIV is fine. I’m not picky about it being the '84 NIV like some people might be.

New King James Version might be “poetic”, but I imagine that wasn’t the intent of the original authors of the scrolls/books (outside of Psalms and Song of Solomon, obviously). KJV has also been said to be the least accurate translation, but is widely popular because a) there is no copyright; and b) it was the first ever english translation widely available to the public at large.

Let’s see, off the top of my head, I own the NASB, AMP, NRSV, KJV, NKJV, NJB, NAB, NIV '84, NLT, TLB, NWT, and IV. I’ve had opportunities to get the others, but the approaches of these ones interested me. Really, I’ve only read the KJV throughout. I’ve wanted to read the NIV, but I’ve never taken the time to get more than a few chapters through Genesis.

I didn’t even think it was that rude if it was a dig. It’s certainly not over the line as far as Off Topic goes IMO.

Jason, I think you’re trying too hard to over-police Off Topic without entirely understanding the culture of this corner of the forum. This isn’t the first mod action you’ve taken here that indicates this to me, but it’s IMO the least defendable one so far.

The correct word is defensible. Geez, you loser!

Well, that’d make Star Wars video deals easier. Don’t have to worry about the film being owned by 20th Century Fox if you own 20th Century Fox.

Yeah, but according to the article, they are in talks to buy 21st Century Fox, not 20th Century Fox.

Disney in talks with Fox? Well, I’m sure we know Disney’s POV, but…

Bronies are weird. Sorry. If that’s judging them, so be it.

I don’t understand.

He’s expressing bemusement at your use of symbols.

I thought he was making fun of Warbler claiming that being in favor of tolerance requires approving of someone’s taste in TV shows.

I was, but then I was making fun of the constant “?” posts.

constant “?” posts? I don’t do it constantly. When was last time I only posted a “?”?

Approximately 16 minutes ago.

I meant when was the last time before that one.

About an hour before that one.

I’m not going to tiptoe around it I’ll just say it.

Being a grown man and liking my little pony enough to watch it without your children is fucking creepy. We can be progressive and tolerant all we want, but next time you see someone your age in public, picturd them sitting at home watching Dora the Explorer or Blues Clues my themself and tell me it didn’t make you uncomfortable.

Huh-huh. You said pic-turd.

Well, I would honestly find the person to likely struggle socially, perhaps some developmental delay, but I wouldn’t necessarily find the person creepy. To someone else, liking CSI:SVU makes someone creepy. It’s a pretty subjective thing, don’t you think?

Your question is probably more suited for chyron himself, something you acknowledged in the first part of your post.

JEDIT: Maybe your confusion stems from the fact that you think sexual orientation is the important distinction in your post, but chyron made it clear that gay and straight effeminate men make him uncomfortable.

If I wanted to harp on him for his difficulty with effeminate men, then I probably would direct it more at him. I try to avoid controversial topics these days because I supposedly am only posting on rare occasions (I know, I’m failing). I just felt that there was a great deal of teasing directly affecting a member here that I think is overall a pretty nice guy, and I felt it was over some very trivial stuff. I wanted to point out my reasons for disapproving of the ongoing beratement.

I think it’s pretty dumb that a bunch of adults who enjoy Star Wars as much as we do, even going so far as to watch that which is geared towards children (i.e. the Ewok movies, CW 2003, TCW 2008, Rebels) feel justified in making fun of a guy for watching MLP.

Yeah but a grown dude watching MLP is weirder. This is nothing against chyron specifically, I just find the whole Brony thing very strange. I do not understand why they like a show that is aimed at little girls so much, and as I’ve said I’ve seen plenty of it so it’s not like I have an uninformed opinion of it.

FWIW I’ve never seen the Ewok movies, CW is fine but whatever, I’ve never seen Rebels, and I don’t even watch Star Wars that often.

For a guy who became upset with chyron for saying he personally struggled with effeminate and flamboyant homosexuals, why do you judge him for being a straight man who likes something girly? We can be accepting of all sorts of gay men, but a straight man must be manly or it’s creepy?
