Nimmar (Four-player Chess) *NOW NO LONGER JUST FOR FRINK OLIE! IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN PLAYING, PLEASE EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST AS FOUR PLAYERS ARE NEEDED TO PLAY!*
Time

Actually, it is ironic that a game with presidents and dukes is only sold in Canada, a parliamentary country that has no president (rather with a prime minister and a governor general, or even a queen in their most prominent political positions), and no dukes (as there is no aristocracy in Canada).  Weird.

No no, Frink.  There is no lion in this game.  There are presidents and senators, though, so the real thing you should be saying is something like, "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it," or "Read my lips: no new taxes."

That would be wonderful.  Though the programming is supposed to be simple for Zillions, I still am clueless about it.  But I have made several homemade sets of games based on the rules I have for games.  So if you post the rules here, I'd happily create my own copy of the game (eventually).

Hey, did you guys know about the Topps edition re-releases of the radio drama?

Hey! How did original Jabba get in there? ;)

And is that an aged Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa behind Leia?

Hmmmm....interesting....You know, in the radio drama, Bail Organa plays a prominent role, so that makes sense.  As for Declan Mulholland, my first thought when you pointed that out was, "What the heck???"  But now that I think about it, it makes sense.  The radio drama includes the Jabba scene, but makes a substantial alteration.  I'm not sure why Brian Daley chose to put it this way, especially since the novel does have Jabba in that scene (IIRC), but in the radio drama, Han encounters "Heater", one of Jabba's top dogs.  The conversation is largely the same, but Heater is a human, so I'm guessing Declan Mulholland is representing Heater rather than Jabba for the audio production.

Who'd like to try a chess variant? Now playing Xiang Qi, a.k.a. Chinese chess
Time

My question was going to be: Have you ever read Schmidttberger's New Rules for Classic Games?  It's a surprisingly fun book and it mentions Bughouse and Refusal Chess.  It also mentions a similar game to Refusal called Compromise Chess, wherein the player whose turn it is offers both possible moves simultaneously, and the opponent gets to pick which one is implemented.  Personally this sounds even more frustrating.  But now that you've described the other, it really does sound like it has more potential than I gave it credit.  Another interesting game is Double Move Chess, where each player gets two moves, except on the first move where white only gets one.  The goal is merely to capture the king, and it is very difficult to predict, and games are often very short.  There are a number of cool chess variants and other game variants (checkers, backgammon, etc.) in this book, and the whole concept of chess variants has fascinated me for years.  Truthfully, I am a serious chess variant lover, but I've had few converts to my passion, so usually it's more imagining what I'd love to try rather than actually playing.

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4
Time

Okay, I think the game progressed somewhat the same for a couple moves.  I have placed the correct Dragon King on 7i.  I imagine the next couple moves would have unfolded the same way, with my Dragon King on 7d, your pawn on 1g.  After that is where I would make a different move.  My reason for attacking that flank was to go for what I thought was a weaker area, but I was nervous to leave your lion unattended by my own, as I don't really understand his potential just yet, and didn't want you to decimate my forces in that flank.  Now that I know that side is guarded by that Dragon King, I'm really not inclined to go that way anymore.  If you're okay picking up here, then my move would be P-5e.  If not, let me know and we can backtrack to a different point and play from there.

Your previous version of the post was more clever.  In any case, you little smart alec, are you sure you're only 14?  ;)

In all seriousness, I forgot which piece I had captured and said the wrong one without looking at the board.  Then when I did look, I realized my error, and pulled a Ric Olie. ;)  Anyway, still hanging with the kids, so we'll fix it in a bit.
