Random and/or WTF Wikipedia pages
Time

I had never seen the Morgan Freeman movie Lean on Me till about 2008.  When I looked it up in Wikipedia, then about Morgan Freeman's character (a real principal), it made a few weird claims about him, including that he was a former drill sergeant.  It then said you shouldn't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.  I'm sure it's long since changed, but it was a funny read at the time.

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4
Time

Ah, well, I see the point.  I don't want to mess with the rules more than necessary.  I appreciate all the suggestions, but I guess it would be best to keep them as is.  I won't trouble again about the rule.

As for my move, I will play +Rx7lm, with the reminder that an unpromoted rook retreats along the diagonal rather than the two orthogonals, and thus you cannot capture my rook.

yipee another knight for me yay im so happy :/

As a reminder, though moving the king to the Pleasure Garden is a fun way to win, the king still may not enter check, even when promoted.  If that is your goal, remember you must block or remove my pieces that are guarding that cell.

And I hate to bring this up, but it still seems silly to me to keep Ric's promotion zone.  both our lances could promote at any time to a surprisingly powerful piece without any difficulty.

I will await your response before moving.  You may take back your last move if you feel your move of your king was wasted.

Well, if you guys are in agreement, then let's do away with the promotion zone.  I agree, it's just too easy to promote.

Curses, my clever scheming isn't working out as well as I'd hoped.  +R-12st

Gotta head to work for a 12-14 hour shift of sheer madness.  See you in the morning.  I'll try to get a move in before I hit the hay.

Ask the member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints AKA Interrogate the Mormon
Time

I should have mentioned this a whiel ago, because you probably won't have the chance to watch it before it disappears from theatres.  Anyway, you all should see Meet the Mormons.  It's a Church produced film about six different Mormon families and how we are real people.  It is not about controversial doctrines, about establishing what makes us different or weird.  It is simply about six Mormon families, that's it.  It's a sort of documentary approach, and I found it quite enjoyable.  I suspect a big reason many won't see it is the price of a ticket for something that could have been a reality TV episode (or six), but just bear in mind that none of the proceeds go to my church.  Rather they are all donated to the Red Cross.  Rotten Tomatoes' eight critics who bothered to rate it were obviously looking for stuff about polygamy or Joseph Smith drinking alcohol or something, because apparently a simple PR piece (let's see, it's called Meet the Mormons) was simply too straightforward for our critics who like to see more negativity.  There is plenty of that to be had.  This was intended as merely an introduction to ordinary people.  If you can dig that and are okay with contributing whatever a ticket costs to the Red Cross, check it out before it disappears (quite possibly on Thursday).

(Note how well audiences enjoyed it; even if it is largely a Mormon audience that saw it, it couldn't have gotten that high a rating from Mormons alone, especially since you can rate a movie without even seeing it, just to be a jerk)

Those who have defected from your side to mine have related many stories, including "Girls Nights" every night of the week, where your whole army would get together and braid each others' hair while giggling and talking about Justin Bieber.  Now I understand these are defectors with a chip on their shoulder, so I'm not saying their story is 100% reliable, but I mean, but now that I know about your rook, there's got to be some truth to these rumors I think ;)

Ric, a ref would be good.  Just following along on the progress of the game and catching any errors and perhaps a screenshot every now and then would be much appreciated, if you are able to do that. :)

Well, that might have affected my strategy, but not enough to go back.  I'm fine then with the game progressing as is, with a promoted pawn on the central cell and the most recent move as is.  Are you in agreement, Ric?

And is the board otherwise correct as I have shown above, with the only change involving the two pawns that should be a single promoted pawn in the central cell?

Ah, you are correct.  I count 25 as well.  I think my eyes skipped over the one on the center hex, which I believe would not be promoted.  Your dad dropped it there if I remember correctly, and a piece does not promote when dropped, only when moved.  He never indicated it was promoted either, which I believe shows that he knows that.  We may have to review the past several moves to be sure, though.
