Lapti nek/Fancy Man preservation (original pre huttese lyrics) (Completed)
Time

isolating a mono track is basicly useless, it realy damages the audio, also fancyman was alot slower, and spend up for Lapti nek (i gues to make sy’s vocals more impressive, singing them at a faster rate) i managed to get a mostly isolated synth track, by using the stereo mix of ROTJ, probably going to use it to attempt ot recreate the track

This edit will have the Ian McClleand version of the Jabba Scene in it. Reason: Its my Edit. I personally would like to make a custom cleaned version of this particular scene where he doesn’t call him Jabba for an after credits scene on another (never to be completed) project. But… I may have him not call him Jabba in this one on the fence about it.

Perhaps go the radio drama way, where he wasent jabba, but i belive a mercinary/bounty hunter sent by jabba, somthing else id love to see, is a recut of the greedo scene, without the SE awkward “doge the laser” bit, but instead cutting ot an insert (probably a custom element) close-up of han holding his D-11 slightly above his waste and firing, cut quickly to be close to how a western gunslinger would be like

If you guys realy want to see the scene atleast close to completed, i can fill in, since my primary skill is foley and video editing, i basicly finished the scenes, complete with music cues, i think ill upload a video-less version to youtube, just so it wont be counted as infrigement, probably only using stills, i should mention i used a small protion of the radio drama’s voices to replace some of the poor line delivery, and poor audio quality

i know that the masters specifically for the film version where lost when creating the “club and dub” mixes, you can tell they used them because of the instruments used, they mostly removed the drums (probably utilising the original multi-track masters) sadly the masters where lost in shipment back to LucasFilm, at least from what ive been able to figure out, the only other place where you can hear the film ver is in the original radio drama for ROTJ witch i believe was released before the SE’s, so it still uses lapti nek, they sourced the master for fancy man (the English original) deconstructed the multi-tracks and removed the vocal track,You could track down the keyboard used to produce the instrumental, since i believe it is synthetic, same with jabbas baroque recital, and use perhaps synthetic drums, or sampled drums, id be willing to help out reconstructing the music as ive been listening close to the music for about 3 months now, wanting ot learn what instruments where used and how to play it, cheers,
btw the Urth Overture mix isnt the same, its lyrics are based off of the english lyrics produced for the original lapti nek remix witch was a modified version and rerecorded version of the club mix, the club mix also follows the structure of the original english version, as in the film version Sy’s lyrics go in a different direction, and eng quickly as the instrumental plays over oola and jabbas scenes, probably meaning they recorded the entire song and her lyrics (judging by the amount of unused footage from the LD and the footage re-purposed for the SE, but the film probably skips alot of the lyrics and switches to lyrics closer to the end of the song, while the music continues to play normaly, tho it could be that the LD footage is still utilising rehearsal footage, but i doubt it, its using some shots witch where different takes (in 83) witch ended up being inserted into the SE, and the remix uses heavily modified film lyrics, witch dropped quite a lot of the original lyrics.

My attempt at the original lyrics

Wai travik zeni quesi
Jup col im in na hiz jal, Wooh Ooh
Wa toc peg qui dos gee pif, aah.
goc jarraz bas deg zorze zot.

The modified remix lyrics

Ab queck zenick fesi
Zong jup col im in na hiz jal, ooh
Wow!
Wa toc peg qui dos gee pif, aah
Joc jarraz bas deg zorze zot

I actually called Ebay but they just told me to make the report online. I wonder if you put your foot down enough you could get customer service to connect you with someone with a little more authority.

dont even bother reporting, never works, ebay straing up ignores obvious counterfits, sure ive bought some, but ebay never did anything after reporting them

i dont mind the idea of, say chipping into a project and getting somthing in return, its what ive had in planning for my retso jobs, mostly as a thank you gift for donating towards the restoration, rather than explicitly selling it, but downright selling fan edits and claiming oh you gota pay that price, it cost me a whole 5 dollars to print a lable on a bluray disc, instead ill lie and say its handling, its a scummy as hell practice

Funny, looking back, ive found posts from Rebelscum.com it seems someone else tried a pass at the lyrics, and comparing against mine, id say i got it pretty close, minus “it’s the dance that makes us pumping”, cant tell if its “Tis” or it’s.
looking back at the 05 forum post, id say mine are so far the best attempt (dont mean to sound egotistical or anything)

"I have “Star Wars to Jedi The Making” on VHS. They were talking about how the song “Fancy Man” sang by the Rebo Band was in english first, then tranlated into the alien language.

You can clearly hear them sing in english.

"Feel my body growing, ow! My head is a t*******, ow!

I will shape you up and work you out! Te My Nine!

You gotta shape your butt you gotta move your feet".

And so on. Please watch “Star Wars to Jedi The Making” and get back to me."

looks like he was thinking mostly of Lapti nek oveture, and thought thoes lyrics where the same

i know they cost alot, im not new to film preservation, ive attempted to buy and transfer film before, i was saying i would love to see it uploaded once everything has been payed for, i cant donate as i dont make that sort of money

I’m not having a go at you or anyone, my point was just that this stuff doesn’t come cheap at all and poita definitely needs some financial help on this one. These films aren’t going to scan themselves if poita can’t afford the bills. The price of these films is very high - it’s more money than I’ve ever spent all at once buying film, and I currently have some very expensive films - so I can only imagine in horror at the financial pressure that poita would be feeling at the moment. My message isn’t directed just to you, I want to do my part to remind people to please donate if they’re interested in this project - anything from $2 to $20,000+ would be accepted.

Speaking about this, I know that I’m not just speaking for myself when I say that we get questions all the time from people asking “when are you going to upload this”, or “can I get the raw scan now”. And while we all appreciate people’s enthusiasm for these projects, it is often missing the point of what we’re doing with our projects. They are to preserve film. It gets tricky to manage people’s expectations. I still have more Disney films to organise to scan and no funds at all at the moment myself, so I know all too well how the financial strain can bottleneck the work.

Anyway, to recap the SW documentary films cost €2,300 (!) to purchase so I would encourage everyone interested in them to think about what they could afford to donate towards the project. You would be supporting poita’s very important and very very generous preservation & restoration work.

Sorry for acting somewhat hostile, didnt mean to come across that way.
Plus im a wanted man, ive got the death sentance on 12 systems 😛

Lapti nek/Fancy Man preservation (original pre huttese lyrics) (Completed)
Time

Hey guys, spent about a week working on this, what id say is the most complete version of lapti nek’s lyrics.
i have attempted to transcribe the original English lyrics using return of the ewok as a base.
here is my current write up, this is being used for a fan edit to extend the lapti nek scene from ROTJ, and provide subtitles for the untranslated scenes.

Fancy man / Working Out / Lapti Nek
Copy-write Lucasfilm 1983,1997,2004,2005,2011
Written by Johnathan Williams
Composed by John Williams (Unsure)
Vocals by Annie Abrogast

Lyrics (English)

Arrroooow! (only featured in From star wars to jedi)

Wow!

My body heat is risin’, Ow! My soul is sympathisin’ Ooh Oh!

The lover man is comin’, ow! So i’m shapin’ up and workin’ out!

I feel my heart pumpin’, Ooh Oh oh! My whole frame is thumpin’

It’s the dance to make Pumpin’, I’m shapin’ up and workin’ out! (Possibly Tis’ the dance)

People sing!

Fancy Man!

Gotta work the grind, You gotta take the Key! ow! Whoo! (possibly take the keep, tho that makes less sense)

Fancy Man!

Gotta feel the heat, gotta walk the street! Wow!

Fancy Man!

You gotta move you’re body, You gotta work you’re feet!

Start Workin’ Out!

Uhh! Ow! Wow! Whoo!

Back up singers continue

Hard workin’ Pumpin’

trust me i know what its like to have people ask me to uplaod restorations, ive got one that ive been working for about 4 years on, every time someone asks it just gets so annoying, now other people are coming out claiming oh im going t odo this in HD and im just sitting here like, you know how much ive spent right? soon to be over 800$ on mateirals, and theyy think they can just get up and start looking, restorations take time and comitment, aswell as deep fucking pockets, @poita id be willing to donate to your project once im finaly financialy stable (litteraly should be less than a few weeks) id love to see from star wars to jedi in such a high quality, beats what lucasfilm dose, just take standard def videos, add them to the bluray with a boarder, i wish you well with your project, and hopefully more people like you will be common someday, seeing projects die, or private collectors teasing is a real issue, Good luck, the force will be with you, allways.

i only learnt today that FSWTJ got a 16mm release, Please get this uploaded sometime, hearing lapti nek and ffancy man along with some deleted footage would be amazing, then all we need is someone ot find a copy of god damn return of the ewok

Yeah, shipping, cleaning and scanning is rarely less than a couple of thousand dollars in costs.

What is Return of the Ewok, and did it have a film release?

i am fully aware of the costs of transfering film, i was saying if its ever done, i hope to see it uploaded, and ROTE is a film davis filmed while ROTJ was being produced, him attempting to find a job and working as an ewok, its pretty hilarious, and great to see some behind the scenes work

(Fan edit) Oola's Sentance (extended)
Time

Hey guys, basicly the plan is to produce an edit of the entire sequence of jabba’s palace (specificaly when lapti nek is played) so extend the scene using the new set footage from the SE and some of its extended scenes, without the horrible CGI additions like sy snoodles) Along with utilising the original Lapti nek (using a salvaged instrumental ver of “fancy man” from the radio drama) along with the dub mix of lapti nek, this will be uploaded to youtube, and if anyone wants to feature this in any fan edits, you can, im just making it for fun, all i need is the audio tracks from the original theatrical cut (if their is one with seperated channels, eg 5.1 from the 70mm ver) that would be great, along with the 5.1 audio from the SE’s, PM if interested.
Another not, i know Laptinek is sadly lost for ever, but if anyone has somthing close to the original, id love to get my hands on it, i know their are edits of it online but the croud audio is present, Ive taken the start of lapti nek off of FROM STAR WARS TO JEDI, as its from the master, and lacks any background sound effects, that combined with whatever i can get should work. Again, thanks for any intrest in thsi project
