I hate the post-1999 EU Jedi with every all of myself.

Agree. I can tolerate the prequel-era Jedi to an extent, but it really got my goat when their characteristics were applied to Jedi outside that era.

I also hated this with the Sith. Things like the “Darth” title and red lightsabers kept getting pushed further and further back in the timeline.

I know, right?

I enjoyed the KOTOR comic well enough, but it irked me when one of Exar Kun’s followers turned up with a red lightsaber or when Haazen commented on choosing “Darth Hayze” as his Sith name.

I think that as far as the Legends timeline goes, the “Darth” title and red lightsabers should begin no earlier than 2000 BBY (when the TPM novelization says the Sith were founded) and end with Empire’s End.

Man, you guys don’t like Legacy?

I just hate the fact that they used the Sith as the bad guys again. I mean, yeah, I’m the first who doesn’t always agree with George Lucas, but in this case I prefer to stay on his side and to say that there are no more Sith after Return of the Jedi.
We can think everything we want about the Prequels, but they exist, so why can’t we just try being consistent with them? The Prequels say that Anakin would have destroyed the Sith, and he did destroy the Sith when he killed Palpatine and Vader in Return of the Jedi. So, there should be no more Sith after that.

Also, the Sith in Legacy are all called “Darth”, have red lightsabers, and have Maul-like tattoos. If they hated the prequels, they could have made the villains not so prequel-like.

Will Disney ever release complete soundtracks for the 9 “Episode number” movies?
Time

When the Special Editions of the Original Trilogy were released, complete (aside from Lapti Nek and Yub Nub) soundtracks were also released. Furthermore, an “Ultimate Eidtion” soundtrack was released for TPM. However, complete soundtracks were never released for AOTC or ROTS.

Disney has released complete soundtracks for Rogue One and Solo, but not for the Sequel Trilogy. Since Disney has gained the rights for the soundtracks for I-VI, they haven’t published the complete soundtracks for the OT that had been published since 1997 nor the “Ultimate Edition” TPM soundtrack that had been published since 2000.

What changes would you make to the Sequels?
Time
  • Give Jakku a different biome
  • Rey would initially live with her parents, who wouldn’t be anyone of importance.
  • Instead of neo-Imperials, the villain would be an ancient, pre-Sith evil. The being that corrupted the first Sith.
  • I’d have the formation of the New Republic and New Jedi Order occur during the movies rather than them coming and going offscreen.

Okay, so here are my picks:

  1. The sheer amount of cataclysmic events and wars that follow RoTJ. Seriously, it’s like Luke, Han, Leia, and Lando just can’t catch a break. Every 2 years something insane happens and of course they’re the ones that have to fix it. They never get to retire or live out their happy ending. I don’t have an issue with new conflicts starting up, but do they always have to be so intense and involve the same ten people? This is why I’m very picky with my post RotJ content, and why I prefer to just go by head-canon.

  2. “Never tell me the odds” is apparently some sort of Correllian belief or something? Seriously? Not only does it subtract from Han’s uniqueness, its just stupid.

  3. I dislike how the Fate of the Jedi series turns “the Ones” from the Clone Wars Mortis episodes into mere celestials. I always thought there was something much more spiritual and psychological with those characters and their planet. But no, now all the mystery surrounding them is gone and they’ve been reduced to some overpowered superhero villains.

  4. Also, why is there a need to overexplain almost everything? I get that a great deal of EU lore stems from the old West End Games RPG where it made sense to explain certain things seen on screen, but still. The EU as a whole goes too far with this.

  5. Vitiate is terrible. Way too overpowered and boring. Also, I’m not the biggest fan of KOTOR and that era, but having Vitiate be the reason Revan and Malak turn to the Dark Side is stupid. Completely removes any sense of agency and choice those characters had in their decisions.

Absolutely agree on 1, 3, and Revan and Malak being possessed by Vitiate. Revan and Malak choosing to turn to the Dark Side is a key part of their stories and characters.

Since I don’t like the way the Jedi are portrayed in Lucas’ Prequel Trilogy, then I don’t accept the Old Republic Era the way it was made in the post-1999 EU either, because the Jedi from the modern Old Republic Era are nothing but a copy and paste of Lucas’ Prequel Jedi. So, I created my own head-canon for the Old Republic Era, which rewrites a lot of stuff.
These are the major events:

  • The Tales of the Jedi comics happen. After the end of the comics, there are several millennia of peace and prosperity in the Republic, until 2000 BBY.
  • In 2000 BBY the Mandalorian Wars take place. The reasons of why the Mandalorian Wars happen are the same reasons of why they happened in the original Knights of the Old Republic lore, before The Old Republic MMO retconned everything. The major events of the Mandalorian Wars are the same that are described in the Knights of the Old Republic comics. However, Cassus Fett is replaced with a new character, as my Old Republic head-canon (just like my Prequel rewrite) respects Boba Fett’s pre-Prequel backstory, and so the Fett family doesn’t exist as such.
  • After the end of the Mandalorian Wars, Revan and Malak fall to the Dark Side, revive the Sith cult and unleash the Jedi Civil War. The following events are similar to those described in the first Knights of the Old Republic game. However, the Jedi are more similar to the Jedi from the Tales of the Jedi comics, and look nothing like the Jedi from Lucas’ Prequels. Apart from this, Revan and Malak’s story is similar to what’s depicted in the first KOTOR. So, we still have Bastila and the other characters, Malak is still defeated, Revan is still redeemed, etc.
  • After Revan’s redemption, the Republic continues to fight against the remnants of the New Sith Empire founded by Revan. The war goes on until 1000 BBY, when the Sith are definitively defeated in the Battle of Russan. However, a Sith survived the battle, and this Sith is Bane. So, after the defeat of the old Sith, Bane created the Rule of Two, established the use of the Darth title (which didn’t exist before him) and also established the red lightsaber rule for the Sith.

So, in my head-canon Palpatine and Vader are still Sith, but the Darth title and the red lightsaber rule were born with Bane. They didn’t exist before. Also, the Jedi Civil War and the New Sith Wars are merged into one single conflict.

Thumbs up to all this except that I hate the term “Jedi Civil War”.

Something that baffles me are the people who think Hayden in AOTC and ROTS is the worst thing ever but are also glad that Shaw was replaced with Hayden in ROTJ and want the Shaw ghost ending erased from existence.

Is that really a thing?

It seemed to be the consensus on reddit.con/r/starwars in between the sale to Disney and the release of TFA.

You're Disney, what do you do with Star Wars?
Time

I would want to develop the years in between ROTS and ANH, the Core Worlds during the events of the Original Trilogy, and the Old Republic era. I would look to what was planned for Underworld and hire James Luceno as a writer. I would make all the planned The Clone Wars episodes. Legends would continue. I would release all versions and sound mixes for all the movies and complete soundtracks for all the movies.

2012: I would declare movies and tv series going forwards to be a “Star Wars Cinematic Universe” and Legends to be “Coruscant-616”.

Now: I would establish a policy that anything that isn’t labeled as canon isn’t canon. I would make Solo 2. I would make everything less secretive.

  • The Sith use red lightsabers in honor of the Sith species and the surface and sky of Korriban.

  • Many believed that Darth Vader was of the Sith species.

  • Palpatine used mind-tricks on his advisors to make them think that he was a puppet ruler and that they were in control.

  • One of the plays performed at the Galaxies Opera House is “Shen and Rahasia”.

  • The Nagai call Palpatine “Emperor Sheev I of Skyriver”.

  • Sion and Nihilus were training each other in the Trayus Academy when the Mass Shadow Generator went off and turned them into the undead beings we know them as.

  • Hego Damask was known as “The Wolf of Muunilinst”.

  • Duel of the Fates is Dathomir’s national (planetary?) anthem.

  • There’s a holofilm called “Night of the Living Rakgouls”.

  • The Tales of the Jedi comics are the contents of the Jedi Holocron seen in Dark Empire and Jedi Academy: Dark Apprentice.

  • The Korriban Sith don’t recognize the Banites as “Sith”, but Vader went through the trials and got knighted by them on his own, hence the scene in Empire’s End.

  • Exar Kun let the Rebellion use his temple as a base because he hated Sidious.

  • Shortly after ROTS, Vader built E-3PO to do the things that C-3PO did for him when he was Anakin.

  • There is an Imperial propaganda film called “Clone Madness”.

  • Tessek was Tikkis’s accountant. When Tikkies died, Tessek fled to Tatooine.

New information has come to light suggesting that Lucas never approved Dark Empire for publication:

https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsEU/comments/vso18w/lucy_autrey_wilson_creator_director_of_the/

Lucy Wilson, who was in charge of the EU in its early days, says that she approved Dark Empire without talking to Lucas and Lucas wasn’t happy when he found out that a comic with Palpatine surviving in clones was published.

The new Canon has taken many of the worst aspects of the old EU and brought them back in even worse ways.

Sometimes it isn’t even the worst aspects.

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ulic_Qel-Droma

If this article’s accurate, Disney Ulic has the same exact history as Legends Ulic. Tom Veitch originally intended Ulic to die unredeemed. Why couldn’t the new writers honour Veitch’s vision and provide longtime readers a fresh, new take on an old character? There’s a painful dearth of creativity at play.

Wookieepedia counts an RPG that began before the end of Legends and Italian magazines as “canon”, so I think they’re too quick to declare things canon and I wouldn’t go by them. In fact, the “canon” Ulic Qel-Droma article you linked to lists the RPG I mentioned as its only source.
