I still wish there was something could be done with the aliasing on R2's head and 3PO's shoulder, but I guess if that's as good as you can get it then...

I am still trying to figure that out, if you have suggestions please let me know, this is mostly g-forces script, with a few additions, if anyone knows how to strengthen the anti-aliasing part give me an example, or what I should add and try out.

also I tested the DTS-HD MA file last night and I like it a lot, very nice.

No one answered me on the commentary tracks, does this mean no one has heard them, or should I just not add it?

Has anyone listened to the audio commentary on the Gonzo & Cowclops V2 set? are they the same? is one better than the other? I was thinking(actually someone requested) about adding one of these to the audio line up, what does everyone think? hopefully if it is wanted it won't be much to sync, also I just encoded hairy_hens SW 70mm and ESB purist and ROTJ purist to DTS-HD MA 5.1 files, so audio for this project is just about finished, then to start rendering the video.

So any suggestions on the latest sample? need some help.

No suggestions here but I approve of Kind Diamond.

Now I didn't see that coming, not many people even know who he is, I just wish him a speedy recovery from his back issues(which I think he is OK with that now) and the Heart surgery he had, he NEEDS to get back into the Studio and on stage again, I know I would LOVE to see him a few more times before he retires.

And that HD footage is looking really good. If some way can be found to keep as much detail as possible, while reducing grain *just* enough to make it look good on an HD tv, without the plastic artificial look to the people, then that would be great. :)

Now that is what is making this take so long, but I think the last sample is a pretty good trade off, have you looked it over?

well whether I see something that looks good or not, the V3 DVD will not get redone, it is finished and it is final, no more DVD work for me, this took far to long as it is, so no revisiting on my end, and you say you have seen "amazing" shots, well I have not, most of what I have seen are way overboard(or hardly any difference at all) as I said, and I think you agreed at least on some scenes, Luke does not even look like a white guy anymore, so for right now, the Blu set will be exactly the same as the V3 DVD, will this please every one, nope, but that is why we are all free to do our own projects right? and again I apologize for sounding harsh but I don't mean to be, but color correcting is a hard thing to do to please everyone, I think some here think Star Wars should look all bright ass colorful like friggin Wizard of Oz when it switches to color LOL, well that is not how I remember it at all.

Well I thought you were asking about redoing the V3 Lossless avi, and that is a definite NO, but if I, or someone can come up with an avisynth command or commands for better color, than I would definitely consider it on the BLU version, I have Ady's presets for his color correction but it is for After Effects, and I have not actually tried yet, but plan to, but I would prefer, if at all possible, to do it during the rendering of the final lossless avi file, I don't really want to keep running the lossless avi file through other treatments to get this right, hopefully I make sense LOL.

dark_jedi: For the V3 DVD set; now that we know it's possible to get a lot closer to the vibrant original film colors without causing overly red skin tones (a big thanks to everyone for working on finding color correction settings that can actually do that), will you be applying the latest color correction methods to the V3 lossless AVI before releasing the V3 DVD set, similar to what LeeThorogood has done with his newest color correction settings (but perhaps with adjustments to what you think is more accurate)?

And if you are, will you also adjust that color correction in some scenes where the general setting might be more problematic?

Thanks for any info. :)

NO I will not, I applaud what Lee is doing but I do not like it at all, Luke does not look like a white guy anymore, it is just way to overboard for my tastes, plus I thought I read(and I could be mistaken) that once he has his settings for SW he is going to apply the same settings to ESB and Jedi? well that isn't going to work, so if he does the other 2 then he will be just guessing, I'll pass.

Once these are shared I don't care what you do with them, you can color correct them all you want, once they are yours, there yours.

I am really sorry in advance because some here think I come off strong, but I am NOT going to re do a whole set because 1 person thinks his color is right and all others are wrong, no way mang!

Once again, once these are released they are yours to do with whatever you want, does not matter to me at all.

*edit - plus remember how long it took for most of us to agree on the Star Wars tweak a while back? color correcting is a pain in the ass, and it never satisfies all, very hard process LOL.

Well, I try not to use that term outside of this forum (because a lot of people don't know it) but sometimes it's hard to know what else to call it. I usually call it "the shitty DVD" or "the DVD from the laserdisc master" or of course "the 2006 DVD" but that is all quite long. What do you call it?

I hear what your saying, that is what I call it to LOL.

Well, I think that's the whole point of the name GOUT. It is supposed to be funny and it is a name for a diseased release ;-)

Well funny or not, when I talk about this set with Friends and Family I do not use that term at all, never liked it, and never will, but I have to use it here because you guys all do.

lol at "BluGOUT."

Note that I think it's a great title, it just struck me as funny.

It is pretty funny, truth be told, I actually HATE the term GOUT, just sounds stupid to me, like a disease or something, Ricardo and I make fun of this term all the time, but that is what you guys here use, so I guess I will have to as well.

I don't see it now either, after the above comment, it got me thinking about my HDTV settings, well it is a good thing I checked, I was watching Dr. NO on Blu over the weekend and noticed some of the same problems on that Blu as I do my sample, and it was all blue sky scenes, well somehow the settings on my HDTV were messed with, the brightness was cranked all the way up, and so was the damn contrast, once I went through and checked everything, and moved those 2 previously mentioned settings back to where I like them, my issues were gone.

It is hard to explain, it is not like it is to grainy, you need to look at the samples on a big screen HDTV, it's like it all breaks apart, and the smoke looks like shit, like I said it is hard to explain, it just looks like pure shit, to me anyways.

The very strange thing though, I do not see any of this on the lossless avi file, it is only after encoding and making a sample Blu file and I watch on my HDTV, on the PC it looks fine, totally stumped.

But as you said, blinking Stormtroopers I can easily deal with, because at least they still look good, the sky, smoke, outlines of buildings, SHIT.

You mean it looks blocky or something? Sorry D_J but I just dont see what you're seeing on my big samsung.

maybe its just different sets and different players that's part of the reason it looks different to each of us.

It sounds like your TV has an extremely detailed picture to it. My Samsung is a DLP....are you watching on a plasma or LCD? maybe the pixel detail is much more pronounced on your set so you're seeing things I just cant see?

You know that is exactly one thing I was thinking of, different players, HDTV's and such, but if that is the case it will still be hard to do because I want it to look good on my setup LOL, if it doesn't then I think something is wrong.

This is a sample I whipped up to show you the problems I am having, look at where the sky meets the ground, watch when Luke runs over to Beru, look over Owens shoulder, and when Owen calls Luke over with him and 3PO, this is a very small clip with no audio.

I still have other setting to try but this is my problem.

OK, I need some help if anyone knows where to find this, I have on order the Halloween II Theatrical version from the UK on Blu-ray, does anyone know where I can find Halloween Theatrical on Blu-ray other than Japan? Japan is just way to damn crazy ass expensive to order from, I really would like to know why in the hell they think there movies should cost SO much more than anywhere else in the World? just damn crazy, and it is not just the shipping that kills it, it is the overall price, OH and in case you didn't know, there are the Rob Zombie versions LOL.

Thanks

and I certainly hope it does.

Me to, I am still trying different things out as I type this, at least I won't have to do any audio work except encode a DTS-HD MA 5.1 of hairy_hens fantastic 5.1 mixes(THANKS to Satanika for upping the 6 lossless wav files) and Mr. msycamore already said he would lend a hand in getting his Theatrical subs to work  for these, and the menu, all I can say is WOW! yes I have already seen samples.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but if the Blu project ends up viable would you also release it as an AVCHD for those without Blu burners?  I would be very interested in that.

Probably not, there will be to much on it to fit a DVD9, all that audio, fancy menu, high bitrate encode, the only way there could be an AVCHD is by downloading it and stripping what you don't want and encoding it yourself, I can burn Blu's and I want everything I have on 1 BD for each movie, then I can quit this shit LOL, NO MORE STAR WARS projects! then I can enjoy the Saga BD Set this Fall.
