Well, I watched the Blu V2 teaser a couple times now.  I realize I'm likely in the minority thinking this, but I find the image overly grainy/noisy.  Compared with the V3 DVD, the picture actually looks less clear in the Blu version.  I know an attempt was made to preserve as much detail as possible, and that no one is a fan of waxy-looking surfaces as a result of too much denoising, but I feel the picture quality could benefit from a little 'cleaning up' or 'smoothing out'.  It feels at times that I'm watching the movie through a filter (if that makes any sense).

My apologies for sounding critical.  I've been following this project for a long time and am very appreciative of the tremendous effort that has gone into this preservation.  I just wanted to know if the image quality of the teaser will be reflective of the final product and, if so, if the level of grain/noise (sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology here) is likely to remain as is.

Just wanted to know what DJ's and You_Too's -- and others' -- thoughts were on this issue.

I brought this exact same thing up myself, I thought it looked more grainy than ever before lol, but U2(short for You_Too lol) said this is how it looks and it brings out detail, when I first started all these tests 3 things stuck out to me right from the bat,
1 was the color, I was so used to it being so dull and washed out, no life, that the new color threw me off a bit, but I love it now!

2 what you mention, the grain seems really heavy, a lot heavier than I have ever seen before on any GOUT project, now I am not saying I do not like it, but this will take some getting used to.

3 the occasional flickering is what I will call it(I am not real good myself on all the real tech terms lol) like during the pan down, the flickering on the walls and ground, and most of all, the flickering on the foliage behind our Heroes at the end of the film.

But for right now things are delayed a bit, we have to fix a tech issue we found mentioned above(sure wish we would have caught it sooner lol) so we are running a ton of tests before we render a new final lossless avi file, because this next file will be final, so we will look at some of the concerns brought up in this thread, like Ady's thoughts on the red, we can look into the "grain" issue, and if anyone has anything else to add now is the time, so please do so.

So does anyone else have any concerns with the grain share your thoughts now please.

Thanks, now it is time to get back to work lol.

Well here is something a little off topic, here is my PC I built not to long ago(the top pic) and the next pic is the one I just built last week for my 11 year old Son(bottom pic).

Also for those that want to see the SW BLU V2 sample grab it soon, I am taking the torrent down sometime tomorrow(Sunday).

*****

Sorry the image is a little blurry, I can't take a new one, he is on it all the time playing Diablo and Diablo II.

When I wrote "speed up" I meant "speed down" :) just a bit mixed up here.

We could be lucky that with HD the PAL speed up is almost a matter of history, at least a fading part of ancient Video times...

I know what you meant lol, now the hard part is finding this DVD and verifying that it is truly uncensored, because the darn Arrow BD was supposed to be but isn't.

I just checked the Arrow BD. Some of the defects are corrected here:

- "Shit" still "shit, not "Right"

- "Oh Jesus" by Sarah is correct.

- "Jesus" by Steel is correct

Still Bad:

- "It's Crazy"

- Gunshot

- "It's the spic"

As its stated for the US BD: The mono track is not affected.

I just wrote Arrow Film an eMail, asking if there any further BD releases planned with complete corrected Audio.

Thanks, that is exactly what I found as well, so until I can find the full 100% uncensored audio I guess this is on hold.

but I have read that the Arrow Films UK SE DVD listed above may be corrected.

Like I said earlier I think in this thread, it took me a few seconds to get used to seeing all this color, I have been so used to the washed out GOUT look for so long that this was just really weird at first, but now messing with it some and seeing it on my 65" HDTV I am really, really liking it a lot!

and as I said several times before, and I think I have it on my first post, this set is not for everyone, and I am just fine with that, because I can spot strange color correcting choices made on anyone's project, no ones is perfect and they never will be.

I second You_Too also, thank you guys for all the feedback and comments.

Day of The Dead - BD Project, help needed. (* unfinished project - lots of info*)
Time

I have been trying to gather what I need to make this happen, it seems that the US video is the superior version for this film, however the audio is censored, so I was going to take the 5.1 audio from the Arrow BD release and use it on the US video, but it seems to me after listening to the clips that the Arrow BD release is not what it claims, it is not fully uncensored, a couple voices sound different and the gun shot is still muffled, so what I need to know is this, does anyone here have the R0 Arrow 2-Disc DVD Set of Day of The Dead Special Edition UK release? this according to DVDCompare.net has the uncensored audio in 5.1, if so can you please listen to those parts and see for sure if this is truly uncensored?

here is the link to dvdcompare

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=677

just scroll down and you can read what lines are different, and there is a link to actually here both good and bad versions.

Thanks

*Edit, I think I am going to need this DVD Set right here,

I must unfortunately recant my opinion that Project Blu V1 takes the GOUT to its maximum potential. Judging from this clip, Project Blu V2 has done so much more!!!

I am right there with you on that, while running tests and then a render or 2, then finally a test encode I was blown away lol, but it took me a bit to get used to all the color at first, I actually was switching back and forth between V1 & V2 and what a difference lol, what a difference!

1 thing I would like to mention though, I am hoping to get the guys that made my cover art for the V1 Set to modify the covers to add in the subs now, I am pretty sure that is all that is needed, I have already been in contact with the guy that did up those real nice 3 cover Sets and he has agreed to fix his covers and possibly even make up yet another new Set, also waiting on a response from ABC because I would really like to include his as well, and then the covers harmy did would need fixing, I will see what I can include and what I can't.

Well still waiting on PM responses, and I know I have said this before on BLU V1, but I absolutely do not think that the "bonus DVD's" can look any better than this, the color is fantastic, and all the bad frames we fixed\fixing is just unbelievable, this new lossless avi file will make a great 720p version and a new DVD version.

I also want to personally Thank Ady for You_Too and myself for fixing a string of really, really bad frames that we(You_Too and I) could not fix, so Thank a ton Ady, you are a true artist!

OK, for those interested, I have PM'd IcyFlamez and Walkingdork at Spleen to see if I can post samples there, I will delete them once the main file is released, I do not trust file hosting sites much anymore and I think this would be the fastest way to share and get comments and feedback, I actually have a sample just about ready to go I am just waiting on those 2 mentioned above to get back to me.

So if all goes well, this is where the samples will be, the Star Wars sample is just under 19 minutes long.

Help: looking for... JC's Prince of Darkness? and possible ideas for other projects.
Time

What is the size of the 720p file of Prince of Darkness floating around?

and I am really not even sure if the whole Scream idea will even work, I will not even start testing until the Star Wars BD Set is done, but maybe it will be good enough for me to use it and have in the BD case along with the cut version, we will see.

Help: looking for... JC's Prince of Darkness? and possible ideas for other projects.
Time

Hi Everyone,
I was just curious if anyone knows if there is a 1080 version of this anywhere, or does anyone have it? I would love to get it, this is one of my favorite JC movies and I love the score, and If I could find a good quality version of it I would like to make a BD25 out of it and make a custom Iso Score for it from my 2 CD set.

Actually now that we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the SW BLU V2 project I have a few ideas brewing in my head lol, 1 I would like to do the above mentioned, 2 I would like to add in the Day of The Dead Uncensored audio to the superior US BD video, 3 someone commented on a possible Dawn of The Dead BD project, but I need to see what is better and what is missing, not sure about this yet, 4 I am tossing around doing a Scream Uncut Reconstruction if it can be done, thanks to Mr Brown I have the uncut Scream on DVD and it is anamorphic and looks very, very good, I am wondering if I can upscale these missing seconds and color them to match the Blu-ray good enough to pull this off, then edit in the missing seconds into the HD audio and wallah, another reconstruction, but this is all ideas at the moment. nothing is set in stone, first I have to see if it is even possible.

Are there any links to the dvd and blu ray covers on page 1?

No, all covers get released with the projects they are meant for, I see no reason to share them on their own, so if you dl'd the V3 set, it was included, if you were one that received the BLU V1 from me, then I provided you a download link for all the BD covers.

Great news DJ. I hope things continue to go well.

Yea me to, but keep in mind we are waiting on updated menu files because of now including subs, and waiting on updated 5.1 audio files, and I even contacted the guy that did the original artwork to see if he can update the artwork to include the subs, because none of the artwork that was done before obviously included this so to properly present these now, they should all be updated.

Well then, in 1 more hour I will have all 3 films rendered, but only Star Wars is encoded, then we will start work on the "bad frames" in Jedi, which should not take long at all, then encode the video, which definitely does not take long anymore on my new PC, then we move on to the worst of the 3, Empire! I don't want to jinx us lol but things are moving along pretty smoothly at the moment, at least the parts You_Too and I can control that is.

So that is where we are at for now.

Where the problem lies it does not seem to come off this way with you, you keep saying make comments in this thread over and over and over, it almost seems like you are addicted to having comments, whether that be because you like reading, or because you just need all this attention, well WE here do not do our projects for all this "attention" Harmy has already stated several times that his project is for him, and our project(You_Too and I) are mainly for us, we are going to do it the way we want it, and then when finished, we share with everyone.

lol if you and I were just sitting around the table chatting face to face I would tell you to just chill out, let things flow on their own, relax a bit, now lets play some video games! don't be so obsessive with the comments, when you show samples of something very worthwhile believe me they will come, you will get plenty, but some advice, stop with the damn "tinys" and you know what this means lol, you read our posts on your blog.

Oh and 1 more thing, if you really want that kind of traffic then you should have just left your project here and not left in the first place, I mean it is not like GL can't find your blog lol.

OK, I am not really going to take sides here either, but if you go back for the past few pages you do come off as spamming these boards for your own, and some do remember exactly how things have gone down with you in the past, there is no denying that, but the thing I really have problem with is this, and again this is how it appears to me and I am sure others if they were not to scared to say it, but I really do not like that it seems that if people do not comment enough for you their accounts get pruned, and again go back and read your posts from the last few pages, you make this pretty clear, well some people just like to read, some do not have time to post much, either because of real life work, Family matters, and also some of us here have our own projects going, do you see a lot of comments in my thread lately for the project BLU V2 You_Too and I are working on? no you don't, but I am not going to contact Moth3r to start pruning accounts because of this, no.

I guess what I am saying is that if you want members, then let people be members, don't be so darn hungry for comments all the time, let them happen on their own, don't push and force comments just so members can remain members, this to me is not right, comments are not forced or pushed on any other forum I am a member of but yours, hell like I have said, I am busy with my own works, and trying to get a job, and taking care of Family issues, but then I read that you are pruning again so I have to quick log in and place a comment just to stay, well this just does not seem right, does it to you?

So I guess now I wait and see if I get pruned for this comment.

This will be uploaded soon, right now You_Too and I are heavily involved in SW BLU V2 Project, plus I am still not sure how to share yet, I will probably just torrent it at Spleen, this would be the easiest for me to do, plus I want to look at this "supposed" error Rick pointed out and see if it is really there, I certainly do not remember hearing anything like that and no one else has commented on it either, but I am still going to see if I can find it.

Thanks and stay tuned.

Hell I should just make a torrent up with this new audio file and include the new Conan files as well as the Return of the Living dead files.

I can do instructions for swapping the V3 video with the "V4" video. :)

That would be great, and make it so it keeps all in tact like chapters, menu's, audio options, etc.

Thanks for doing this, I can get the needed programs, I just need a text file to include on how to swap.
I was actually thinking of doing a PDF file with pictures to help illustrate the instructions, but if you would prefer a plain text txt file thats cool I can do that. :)

WOW that sounds even better, no if that is what you want to do go for it, the easier the instructions the better.

Thanks
