So how is the first TERMINATOR coming along?  I would love to see that with proper color timing.

Also, has anyone thought of tackling the SUSPIRIA blu-ray to fix at least the more blatant contrast issues (such as the hot pink academy exteriors when Daniel approaches)?  I'm trying to work on a guy on Teh Paradox, but I don't think he's interested.

We did try and You_Too has said it just can't be done with any of the BD releases, I will let him explain why when he sees this post, he said it would be easier to just upscale the Anchor Bay DVD since everyone seems to think it has the correct color, but I have not given up on it just yet, plus I still need the bit perfect PCM rip from the Suspiria Laserdisc.

no luck this side mate i'm afriad, have ripped the DVD to the hard drive but trying to recode it, extract it is proving difficult with the software i have :(

Wow I am not sure what you are doing lol, it should be real easy to rip just the DTS track from the DVD.

 any pointers?

Well what did you mean by rip and recode? I do not want a recode lol, and are you ripping a DVD or Blu-ray? if it is DVD just use DVD Decrypter and just rip the DTS track, actually I use PGCDemux this will do the same thing, and both are freeware and very easy to use.

If you can let me know if you have any luck because if no one can get a English track then this video file is going to get deleted lol, it is useless to me without English.

Thanks

What is wrong with the UK PCM track?

Probably nothing lol, but a DTS 5.1 track is nice, do you have the PCM track to share? I will add that to if I can get it, but it has to sync to the long version, I am still waiting on English tracks at the moment, other then that I have everything ready to mux and burn.

Thanks

Grand_bleu_720p 5.97 GB

this is the US cut, it's the same file name and size as mine.

The two BD rips should be the same (i have the 720p already for portable use)

the two soundtracks as well are different but be advised that there was a two disc release of the Eric Serra score with a whole CD worth of additional music and they have just released this month a new remastered album with some unreleased music and demos. i'm hoping to get this next month

a little bit more info for you

there are actually 4 cuts of the movie

French Theatrical version (134 mins)

European Theatrical Version (119 mins)

US Theatrical Version (118 Mins with recut ending and Bill Conti score)

Version Lounge (extended cut 164 mins)

To many versions lol, so do you have the DTS English track? I would love to get this longer version ready to watch but I need the English track first.

Thanks

I have these files so far lol,

Le grand bleu BD 30.6 GB................I am guessing this is the long version
The Big Blue-Bill Conti FLAC
Eric Serra - The Big Blue (1988) FLAC
Grand_bleu_720p 5.97 GB................this is the US cut I think
Le.grand.bleu.1988.BDRip.720p.x264-HDCLUB 11.8 GB...............long version as well

I am trying to figure out what all these are lol, I assume I have both versions here, it would be a lot easier if I actually knew this movie, also would be nice to have an LD bit perfect PCM rip of the audio.

from memory, there isn't a DTS-MA 5.1 English track for it at all. closest to it is aa Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) on the Australian Blu-ray and a LPCM 2.0 track on the UK disc (be warned though as the first UK BD didn't have the English track, just a dubbed French track which they had to re-press)

there is also a DTS 5.1 track on the Japanese and Korean DVD's but that's the only DTS track released for it.

from what i recall on the other thread, there are a few subtle differences in timing between the two and some alternate footage as well as detailed here

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Big-Blue-US-edit-1988/post/578675/#TopicPost578675

the titles are also slightly different in both cuts

OK so it wouldn't be just a simple edit then, there is alternate footage and such, so it is just like our Conan project, thank God for Netflix HD for the alternate cuts for that or it would have never been possible.

Would you happen to have the DTS or DD tracks in English for the long version by any chance? I would hate to think I wasted my time downloading this to not be able to find one lol.

The edited version you mentioned above is that the US version? there are so many different versions there it is hard to tell what is what.

i can demux the 5.1 audio from the MKV file i got here from rutracker and dropbox / upload it to you DJ but FYI if your at rutracker it's listed under

Le Grand bleu / The Big Blue (edited version)

and the Bill Conti score track is audio track 4 (the first two being Russain dubs and track 3 being a hybrid of US cut with Eric Serra score)

additionally, i do have the US laserdisc of the US cut as well  (NTSC) with the original Stereo soundtrack

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/00652/31026/Big-Blue-The-(1988)

I am a massive fan of this film and have multiple DVD and Blu-ray editions of this as well as Laserdiscs, posters and the soundtracks (both Serra and Conti) so if anyone needs anything, give me a shout. I would love to see a 1080p custom Blu-ray of this to complete my collection

So is that the US version? I also have the 30 GB file which I assume is the very long version, and without an English track so I need to find the English track for that as well, damn I would have never grabbed that big ass file knowing it did not have English lol.

EDIT, I am going to watch the long version just as soon as I find an English track for it, really hope there is one there there, and I hope in HD, is the an English DTS-HD MA 45.1 track for the long version somewhere?

also can the US version be cut from the long version or is there different scenes or angles like with our Conan project that need to be edited in?

Damn I have not heard of this movie and read at IMDB on it and started grabbing it without even realizing there is a US version, so I am assuming the version I am grabbing is not lol, oh well at least I can still check this out.

Can a US version be made form the longer BD version or is it totally different like Conan lol? and is there an HD version of the US version anywhere? also what are the differences? sorry for all the questions I am new to this movie.

BD Edit question
Time

Is there anyone here who is very good at using this program and pretty much knows the ins and outs lol? I am working on something and I need to know how to update\edit both the playitem video description in MPLS and the CLPI, the video the BD has is VC-1 but I want to replace it with our AVC encoded video.

Thanks

I may have missed this in the frenzy, but do you guys still need the LD for audio? I might have a lead on getting that disc for very, very cheap so I need to know

Yes as of right now we do not have the ripped audio from the LD, how cheap is cheap lol.

I have a guy that gets me all my bit perfect rips but he always asks to keep the LD when it is done.
