Thanks. I haven’t had a chance to look on the Spleen. I’m at work so not much help. I’ll check it out when I get home.
I too would appreciate a 720P down-convert as my TV is 1080i plus 1080P and Plex are not really compatible for seamless watching.
Say… just discovered this thread since it was kinda buried until recently and was wondering if anyone could possibly start seeding on Spleen? There’s only like 3 peers and I’m afraid it’ll take forever for me to enjoy the Prequel Trilogy Regraded. Any help appreciated!
Wow! Those are some great Goodwill finds! Makes me want to check mine out.
Did anyone here like the Brian Wood written Dark Horse Star Wars? I read it on Marvel Unlimited last year and really enjoyed it. There were some peaks and valleys but for the most part it was a fun read.
Loved the TIE Fighter escape sequence. It really established that while Poe Dameron is an excellent pilot, he’s not perfect, especially when working with unfamiliar tech and in a hurry. When they’re stuck on the hangar bay’s tether, it really reminded me of the Original Trilogy where even when the good guys start to get ahead something else would go wrong. Sort of like the Parker Luck if you’re a Spider-Man fan.
Sounds like a neat little project. Surprising they’ve never released as-is on a DVD even as a bonus feature.
I really want all the main characters to die, and the film to end right where Star Wars begins. Like maybe end on Vader ordering the Executor to fire on the Tantive IV.
I’d have to agree there. Makes their sacrifice matter, plus then you don’t have to explain why none of these new/old characters aren’t in the OT.
Thanks. III is OK but not essential viewing.
HBO short trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsB9ZPO4ipAThe promo says:
Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary gangster epic “The Godfather” and its Oscar®-winning sequel “The Godfather II” are edited into this single film–told chronologically and with added footage that was cut from the original films.
Dear god what is that awful music.
Looks like that’s the only airing. On my DVR I had to record HBO itself for the 6:05. Thanks for the heads up. 😄
That’s not true at all. Thus far:
Sun, Jan 17, 5:00PM ETHBO EAST
Sun, Jan 17, 8:00PM ETHBO WEST
Sat, Jan 23, 9:00PM ETHBO SIGNATURE EAST
Sun, Jan 24, 12:00AM ETHBO SIGNATURE WEST
Fri, Jan 29, 9:00PM ETHBO ZONE EAST
Sat, Jan 30, 12:00AM ETHBO ZONE WEST
Wed, Feb 3, 5:00PM ETHBO2 EAST
Wed, Feb 3, 8:00PM ETHBO2 WESTAnd it WILL be available on demand.
Thanks, man. It looks like maybe my cable box hasn’t updated yet. Sorry!
EDIT: Also can anyone verify is this the Parts I and II or all three? My HBO listing says “The entire saga of the Corleone crime dynasty re-edited in chronological order from The Godfather I, II and III, including scenes originally deleted from the theatrical versions.”
Looks like that’s the only airing. On my DVR I had to record HBO itself for the 6:05. Thanks for the heads up. 😄
Hey Harmy, do you have any opinions regarding the 2.0 Working Copy being available on the Spleen? Comments in there state it wasn’t intended for public distribution so I decided to hold tight before I downloaded.
First Order Stormtrooper Pop! Vinyl Bobble Figure for Christmas.
Also, in one scene, the white-clad knights and white-robed German priests lynch old men and women, and throw babies onto bonfires. This orgy of violence is orchestrated by a black-robed monk.
I really hate to bump an older thread but I’ve been catching up and this quote just struck me as familiar… you paralleled it to the Tantive IV siege in Star Wars, but now that TFA has been released I believe there is a much stronger connection, which tells me that the new film-makers are not only studying what Lucas did prior, but also what he studied as well. I won’t spoil the scene for those who haven’t seen it, but those who have know what I’m referring to.

Let’s talk about a few other costumes from the rough draft, namely the Imperials:
Although the rough draft describes Prince Valorum as wearing a "fascist black-and-chrome uniform," given his status as a Black Knight of the Sith, he presumably would have worn black robes, like the other Sith knight seen earlier in the script (and Darth Maul in TPM)…
Darth Maul’s skin–mostly black, with red tattoos–reflects the idea Lucas probably had to cast Prince Valorum as an African-American.Later on, Valorum is demoted in rank, and is seen wearing the uniform of a common stormtrooper. (At this stage the stormtroopers likely had black armor.)
This concept is returned to in TFA as Finn/FN-2187.
Is that Snoke on Ren’s back a la Luke and Yoda?
Has anyone done any comparisons of the Netflix Streaming content and the physical media available? I’ve watched Dumbo on Netflix, but that was really before my eyes were open to this kind of thing.

I don’t know why you came to this thread for an invite if that one is locked …
No more invites, no more posts from hit-and-run posters.
I am sorry but a lot of members here have given and given and we almost always end up disappointed because our invites get abused by hit n runners.
Please don’t clutter up these threads with invite requests. The general forum section may be of some help.
I didn’t come in to this thread to request an invite, I was simply advising the previous person that the MySpleen Invite thread is now a dead end.
No, sorry, all in Anderson. I saw ANH Special Edition at Applewood 9 and I think Episodes I and II at the old theater behind Mounds Mall (don’t recall the name) and III at Mounds 10 Theater.
Hey Phil I just wanted to let you know that this topic got me to check out your podcast and I pretty much love it! I’ll admit, I haven’t listened to a non-Parsec episode but I do appreciate the banter between you and Jake, especially in the pre-amble. I find it pretty interesting that you count Indiana and Indianapolis proper as your NA base-of-actions as I live about 30 minutes north in Anderson. So when you’re referring to all these cinemas and convention centers I know exactly where you’re talking about. I do look forward to delving deeper into Phil and Jake in Conversation.
To the OT crowd: If you love Star Wars, you owe it to yourself to take a listen to these guys. They approach each movie fairly and in an engaging manner!
Someone a few years back offered to restore the originals for nothing. Lucas never responded. It obviously goes much deeper than ‘it costs too much money’.
Well, that may have just been an easy cover statement rather than explaining that he just didn’t want to. But remember, nothing is free, while he may not have had to pay Robert A. Harris a salary, he would still have had to have funded the restoration and paid all of the other people who were working on the restoration. It also would consume his time as he would have no doubt supervised it, while simultaneously trying to supervise the other project that his changes were being added to. Maybe that’s the case, or maybe he did want it to never be seen again, who know? Now that he is gone however, that is irrelevant to whether it will be released now, which I think will either be when TFA comes out on blu-ray, or when the 40th anniversary happens alongside Episode VIII.
I firmly believe if the GOUT will be release in HD, it will happen on the 40th anniversary in two years right before Episode VIII
Are all TIE Fighters manned by a pilot and a gunner? I don’t recall ever being shown that in the OT. Just the Millennium Falcon and the Snowspeeders, right? Unless the TIE Pilot shots in the OT didn’t specifically show two in the same ship? Am I the only one or just crazy?
Worst case scenario :
It is a dark time for the
Resistance. Although the Starkiller base
has been destroyed,
First Order troops have driven the
Resistance forces from their hidden
base and pursued them across
the galaxy.Without the protection of the fleet of the New Republic,
a group of freedom
fighters led by POE DAMERON
has established a new secret
base on the remote swamp world
of Dryth. The evil knight KYLO REN,
obsessed with finding young
REY and LUKE SKYWALKER, has dispatched
his sinister order into
the far reaches of space…
“Worst case?” I find that to actually be pretty exciting.

If they really had to have Starkiller base, I think the Resistance ought to have failed to destroy it (only disabled it). This would have subverted our expectations and made it less of a rehash of ANH/ROTJ. Also it would have made it much darker (Han died for nothing, and Luke is now the Last Hope for the galaxy, just as he was once the NEW Hope).I too felt disappointed with Starkiller and even had similar thoughts (in my mind, I thought somehow the Resistance would have to take control of it while they figure out its weakness). However, the more I thought about it, Starkiller achieved A LOT than we imagined, compared to the other two Death Stars. The first Death Star was only used for intimidation and only destroyed one peaceful planet, Alderaan. Death Star II only destroyed a few Rebel cruisers but never any other planets. What did Starkiller do? It destroyed actual military targets! It basically wiped out entire Republic fleets. Without a Republic fleet, the Republic is really no more, no more control over a galaxy. Starkiller is no longer really needed at this point, it served its purpose. Now yes, First Order got their crushing blow from the destruction of Starkiller, but it appears it’s no big deal considering how Snoke took it lightly and only instructed that Kylo Ren be returned safely to him for more training. This galaxy has a power vacuum, and it’s up to both the Resistance and the First Order to quickly reclaim control.
I agree, and I’d like to think of it as the First Order had an unlimited number of nukes, but they only really needed ten. Five were used, but the rest were destroyed. The damage from the five successes aren’t any way undone by the Starkiller being destroyed.
One thing that I found jarring at first was that there wasn’t really any lamentations or mourning of the billions of lives lost, but then again, Star Wars has never really been good at that aspect and it doesn’t try to be. Alderaan being destroyed is a perfect example.
