I remember the tip of a Star Destroyer popping out well in TFA (saw it 3D simply because it was earlier than the 2D show… and souvenir glasses).

Yeah there’s that one shot

because of the telephoto lens you don’t think much of in 2D but in 3D it looks like the tip is going to stab you in the eye. I remember gasps in the theater when I saw that shot in 3D.

it is things like this (and what i derisively call gimmicks) that make me dislike 3D films. I feel like it makes the whole movie viewing experience take on a ‘wrong’ perspective to have parts of the screen come out at you. added depth i am OK with, but not the other way.

You wouldn’t have enjoyed the 50’s 3D wave very much then. 😉

And everything from color to sound to widescreen has been dismissed as gimmicks. And the wheel has turned such that when the rare black and white or 1.33 aspect film is made, it’s scoffed as a gimmick now.

😃 yeah, i am fully aware that my calling it a gimmick probably make me old and grumpy (that is why i tried to acknowledge that it is me being derisive when i say it). but gosh darn it, i knows what i likes. and what i don’ts.

I’m really hoping for an update from Puggo himself, especially since he said that the final tweaks are supposed to be done by January 2017.

Where? He hasn’t been in this thread since June. I’m almost beginning to think this is not happening. 😦

exactly, but no update here. I don’t wish to cause him stress if this project is causing him stress, that could be why he is avoiding the thread. all in good time!

Hey, I got a spleen invite from someone, but all I can find is the BD25 versions. Have the others been removed or am I just not using the right search terms? I’d really like the BD50 versions and the documentary discs if at all possible. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

don’t search for njvc in the filename, only some really old out of date ones are under that. instead do a user search for njvc, and view all the user’s uploaded torrents. 😄

Are The Prequels That Bad?

The prequels are bad, because they have made us look for problems everywhere. They set a bad precedent for how star wars fans should behave.

I put most of that on Lucas, not the films themselves. Had he only made the bad films, the two camps may have been less venomous. Still divided perhaps, but possibly more along generational lines or style preferences. Instead, Lucas set about dividing the fans into teams with all of his CGI revisions and lying about the 1970s.

He created the division where you either like the real Star Wars or you like the 1977 theatrical Star Wars. For deep fans of the prequels, that was license to criticize the fans who were liking Star Wars incorrectly. He created that fire and continued to add fuel to it until he jumped ship and left the huge mess behind.

that is also a good point, i agree.

I’m not sure why mine are showing as being larger than your versions.

Are you sure you’re looking at the filesize for just the files that will go to disk?

OSX changed the way it reports filesizes, starting in OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard). see: http://blog.macsales.com/1852-snow-leopard-changes-they-way-we-look-at-gigabytes-and-megabytes-and-kilobytes-as-well

so, you are probably both using different versions of OSX. This is why comparing filesizes is a bad way to check for similar files. do a sha256sum and compare output.
