Three days prior to inauguration but relevant and disconcerting.

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2017/01/19/never-seen-anything-gaping-holes-trumps-foreign-policy-team

Many aspects of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition have been described as disorganized (at best), but his administration’s approach to foreign policy “appears” particularly rudderless, raising concerns among domestic experts and international allies alike.

The defining part of the article is the quoted word above … “appears”, and that is an opinion, not fact. LOL

ok, i can respect your point that you should work to make things better (from your previous post, not this one). but what i don’t respect is your constant brushing aside of every piece of information as being opinion, and not fact. the opinion of the matter is, that almost all information that is out there is not fact. if you can’t deal with finding the shadow of the facts by sifting through and weighing opinions, then I don’t know… ? i don’t know.

I do wonder at what point I’m allowed to stop giving Trump another chance. 70 years hasn’t been enough. 2 years of campaigning hasn’t been enough. 2 weeks of a nonstop shitshow hasn’t been enough. Is 2 months more enough? 2 more years? Will I ever be allowed to question anything that Saint Trump has done or said?

dahmage, I’m relying on you to guide me on this matter. What ever your counsel, I will follow it.

as for me and my house? we have stopped giving trump a chance about 2 minutes into his campaign. I have never seen a reason to go back on that. As soon as i see reason from him, that will be a reason to start giving him a chance again.

I thank you for your guidance. I was willing to give Trump another chance starting right now, but you’ve convinced me to do otherwise.

don’t worry about it. My bill is in the mail.

^^^From the article …

Trump told the folks at Axios, a freshly launched news site, that he prefers his intelligence briefings short and to the point.

“I like bullets or I like as little as possible,” he said in an interview published on the site. “I don’t need, you know, 200-page reports on something that can be handled on a page. That I can tell you.”

This does not imply what you are assuming.

  • wrong

JEDIT: oh wait, i did convey that in a bullet point list. i am confused. 😉

Jesus Christ.

I can hear certain people already saying that you can’t believe these reports without having been there in person, but given that Trump has regularly refused to be bothered by intelligence briefings, and given that he both has zero experience in governing and has shown no interest in gaining experience, these reports are entirely believable.

If you were part of the administration and there, I’d buy this entirely believable thing, but since you’re not I don’t. You have nothing to show he is refusing intelligence briefings at this time and until you do I take this as only your opinion, nothing more.

how long will you hold a candle for Trump?

Also unbelievable is that four more states have blocked federal authorities from enforcing the ban, and yet…

lawyers representing people covered by the order said some authorities were unwilling on Sunday to follow the judges’ rulings.

WTF?

it does seem like we are in a time where everyone is exercising some version of civil disobedience / being completely confused by what is official, and just doing what they think should be done.

the former is a good thing, but certainly can cause issues with day to day operations.
the later is also perhaps a good thing, but absolutely can cause issues with day to day operations.

can i still count on my fingers the number of days that Trump has been president? What the Royal F.

There is no need to be a fly on the wall in Trump’s White House anymore with all the facts flying in this thread. Next thing you know, we’ll have Warbler for President with Hillary Clinton as his Vice, and some of you folks filling cabinet spots due to your unique and superior qualifications.

That would be a doomsday worth counting towards.

LOL

Not sure how many question marks to use, so I shall use none.

Finally some sanity in the insanity. Hopefully this can be permanently put to an end.

JEDIT: Beat to the punch. Yeah, I agree, Tyr. Proud of our nation’s ability to resist injustice.

By mere moments, my friend.

Here’s the whole decision.

About damn time! I still don’t quite believe it, but things seems to returning to a normal level of ‘sane’

Weird that some wanna make it sound like brimstone and fire without actually saying it. Our own intelligence community has stated that it is almost impossible to fully vet these folks and there are 1000 investigations with the FBI at present. There are apparently plenty of immigrants/refugees that don’t even have paperwork they’re supposed to have after being vetted while being here so I don’t know why at least a temporary furlong on this matter is even an issue.

Let them get it sorted and then complain if they don’t agree with some of the criteria.

I should add that this problem goes at least as far back as the Clinton Administration, probably farther, so it’s not like it’s a big lie or something.

LOL

So, I don’t know if immigration personally effects you, but I happen to live in a city that is very supportive of refugees, and has helped settle way more than the national average. I have good friends that work in resettlement. It is completely untrue that more needs to be done to vet refugees. It takes forever to come to the US as refugees. It is absolutely shameful the way politicians are using fear of terrorists coming as refugees for getting more support. The argument is easy to make, and sounds oh so wise “let’s just take a moment to make sure it is safe”. Well, it’s a very sneaky lie. It is already just about as safe as you can make it. I am sick and tired of hearing these uninformed, but well intentioned sounding statements. I say, let us do some good for refugees, and some good for the US, and keep bringing them in. Refugees make America stronger.

As an American it will affect me as it does any other citizen in any other country. My stand is that if people want to emigrate to the U.S. because they want a better life and they want to be a part of positive things, bring it. I can neither prove or disprove that there will be some wanting to do bad things once they get here. It happens worldwide. I know that during the Clinton Administration that due to the sheer volume of people wanting to come in that they started just allowing people without the paperwork or vetting that was normally mandatory for such things even then.

Has it affected the country? I’m sure it has. Will it hurt our country in the future? Probably some. Is it okay to want to put better procedures in place to help safe guard those coming with good intent and those already here with the same intent when they came? Abosulutely. Will we catch all the bad people? Eventually I’m sure. I get where you’re coming from and I agree with your sentiment. I also understand the need for a better and more efficient way to accomplish the work required to allow those folks wanting to start a new life as soon as possible.

“Better procedures” is a bald faced lie. The ignorance by those promoting this is either willful or uninformed, but it is still ignorance.

“I” am not promoting anything. “I” am just trying to have a conversation with you on the matter but apparently your intentions are not the same.

To clear up your misunderstanding, I wasn’t implying that you were promoting anything. Trump and the Republicans are the ones promoting this.

My intention is to point out that you are believing a lie. Do some reading into to information that groups who do refugee resettlement provide on this issue. They have been involved in this for a long time, and I would trust their information much more than I would some reporter or politician who just recently began taking a side on this. I suggest Church World Service. http://cwsglobal.org

There’s also this:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

That’s also a good reason. But not as personal for me. This topic gets me very fired up, so I will probably leave it at this. “Let the refugees come!”
