I have noticed that lots of users seem to be running short on punctuation (and good manners) in their posts.

I can’t really help with the good manners, since i sometimes run low on that myself.

But i can provide some extra punctuation, since i have quite a stockpile, and i don’t need it all.

I have quite a few of these. mostly new or lightly used.

Wow, I can’t wait to see how this sentence ends.

That was the whole sentence moron. Sorry I don’t feel like putting a period. This isn’t some business letter. You were already a douchebag to me on the other forum so please f off…

Orphan Black series finale - mostly an epilogue after 15 minutes of finale, and a bit overly happy/sappy, but not bad. Seasons 1 and 4 are still the best seasons, but the entire show is worth watching for Tatiana Maslany.

I am so glad this show is over so that I don’t have to keep watching it (my wife likes it more than I do). But I agree that Tatiana Maslany does a great job in it, and that alone makes most of the seasons worth watching.

Thanks dahmage. I guess there’s no official checksum for this.

OK I grabbed both, and extracted/mounted the ISO files, and there really aren’t many differences.

Firstly, the VIDEO_TS folders within in both ISOs are exactly 7.50GB (8,058,986,496 bytes). So that’s a good sign.
There are a few differences though:

$ diff -r mega/ spleen/
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/ADYWAN OFFICIAL: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/DOUBLEOFIVE: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/JEANCARL & RAVENSP: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/OWEN LARS KENOBI: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SAVAGE: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SKY_: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SLUGGO: Thumbs.db
Only in spleen/: readme.txt
Only in mega/: Thumbs.db
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.BUP and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.BUP differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.IFO and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.IFO differ

So looks like nothing serious.
The Thumbs.db’s can be ignored I guess, as well as the readme.
Then there’s just the ifo/bup files. I’m thinking those aren’t too important either, compared to the vob files anyway? Though to be honest I don’t really know the purpose of those files on a DVD.
So I think either release is good.
👍

Still, would be nice to know I have the ‘official’ one 😃.

Agreed. Based on your comparison I would prefer the spleen one. Thumbs.db doesn’t belong on a proper iso in my opinion. Windows only junk.

Tehparadox going down also threw me for a loop.

We experimented once before with some key users getting a download link via PM and then having them all seeding a torrent as a means of handling the high demands of initial distribution. There was some technical fiasco and it didn’t work well at all. Doesn’t mean it’s not worth another shot, but maybe someone would need to document a “you must do it exactly like this” set of instructions to avoid issues. In theory, it seemed like a pretty good idea. Maybe worth another go.

It seems that an initial distribution using magnet links and relying on dht could work?

oh man, that bluray looks so terrible, and your regrades so wonderful!

Just to nitpick, haven’t we clarified that the blu-ray always looks much more purple and terrible once the frames have been processed in any way? I mean, they still have crappy blue-ish grading, and Dre’s is a million times better. But it doesn’t look as bad as the frame grabs often suggest.

I forget who finally worked this out. Williarob or Neverar maybe? It unfortunately gives a little bit of credit to the pro-SE/PT trolls who have claimed, in the past, that our comparisons exaggerate the BD’s flaws.

Gonna test your theory and pop in the blu ray tonight on the plasma, and find this frame of Owen and see how it looks.

Thank you for your sacrifice for the greater good. I am curious.

I believe the file was originally called “STAR_WARS_REVISITED_NTSC_DVD_9.ISO”, not sure on the hashes.

OK thanks.

That’s strange. It looks like the version on myspleen is ‘wrong’ (if you can base it on filename alone).

i seem to remember having to redownload a few parts the first time i tried to join in seeding this file on myspleen. i had gotten the file many years before i joined the tracker. sadly this happens. Thats why i love it when people post checksums along with release announcements.

Well yeah, people are allowed to decide who gets their stuff when they die. So what?

Well, I have lots of opinions on this matter, but the one most topical is this: if you have a time, 50 years ago when redlining was legal, and a time 100 years ago when murder was tolerated and even encouraged in the form of lynching, and 150 years ago when slavery was legal, that is a lot of time to build up a pretty substantial reservoir of unearned, unfair, unjustified advantage. And if you have a system that allows those ill-gotten gains to legally be transferred people living in the present even though the means used to accumulate that wealth is no longer legal… well, you’ve got a problem.

I think it is wrong to simply label everything that white people have today as ill-gotten.

Me too, which is why I so carefully tagged only those gains made via slavery, etc as ill-gotten, though they are substantial. I think this moots the rest of your questions, so I’ll leave it at that.

I’m not so sure it does.

However, how do you determine, of the stuff white people have today, what is and is not an ill gotten gain via slavery? What about those white people whom are decedents of people who came to America after slavery was ended?

I feel like you are trying to get a clear answer, and there isn’t one for a lot of this stuff. The real question is, when faced with tough questions like this, do we default to ‘leave it as is, its too damn hard to figure out’, or do we struggle to find a solution that is better? Our approach to finding an answer matters more than our answer sometimes.

I made a few screenshot comparisons from the first act. I can make more if anyone is interested.

Thanks for these! i scrubbed few a through scenes (haven’t had time to watch, busy busy work schedule right now), particularly the Wamap, but could hardly tell what might have been changed, as everything is so seamless. Excellent Job Adywan!

I get a good chuckle out of going back and forth between these two, would make a good gif movie i think 😉

Wow, that is so much better looking!
