Puggo Strikes Back! (Released)
Time

I just downloaded the PG recently and I now prefer it to the gout dvd - so thanks for all the hard work. I would still prefer watching the PG to a cleaned up version of the gout - probably becuase i like the grit and aging of the film, that is from the 16mm print.

I've been tampering with fanedits of star wars and trying to work out the software as i go - but i think ive gone as far as im prepared to go with it - a lot of what you guys are discussing i dont understand, regarding the white balance etc...    i just enjoy watching the PG as it is.

So im sure what ever work you do on PSB will be cool and looking forward to adding this to my collection as well.

Cheers for taking the time to do this)

Virtualdub and exporting to mpg2
Time

Thanks Moth3r,

I figured it out in the end and i did use HC Encoder, couldnt get the frameserver to work, so exported it to avi instead.

The issue now is that i want to crop the movie to 16:9 fullscreen, im using the PAL 2004 Return of the jedi (not the gout)....but......

In womble the footage which is 720x580 is stretched vertically - however when i make my edits, save and then convert back to DVD it looks fine on the tv.

Its when i want to use virtualdub that the stretching becomes an issue, when i save an m2v file in womble.... the exported video is stretched the way it looked in womble and seems to apply the black bars to the top and bottom automatically, so when applying effects in virtualdub it applies them to the black borders also...

As i wanted to change the aspect ratio to true 16:9 I tried cropping the footage in virtualdub, but I can only get it to resize the frame - it doesnt actually crop the image - so cant get rid of that stretched issue. i figured i just need to change the 720 (width) to somthing else and keep the height as 580?....probably not as easy as that.......

It just ocurred to me that maybe I need to change the aspect ratio when i export the m2v from womble......but to what im not sure, what would be the correct values for 16:9 PAL format?....and would this screw up the aspect ratio when authoring the DVD?

hmmm, this would probably be better explained with screen shots but ill have to wait untill i finish work for that.

but then im sure some of you guys have already gone thru these problems!

geez, its just really frustrating lol!

Virtualdub and exporting to mpg2
Time

Hey guys,

im stook! im using womble to do my edits (PAL format, 25fps) - then i want to transfer the video to virtualdub to do some editing there, adding grain, old film effects......im trying to simulate the super 8 look!

The problem is virtualdub doesnt export to mpg2 - and I want to import the video file back into womble for further editing or converting to DVD or mpg audio and video combined file.

Im still new to all this software as well, I've heard womble isnt great for dvd authoring, but at the moment - its fine for my purposes - unless of course, there is a quicker method to get it from virtual dub to DVD...

hope you can help me - I can go no further at this point...... :(

Are we allowed to post links to files here?

Ive pm'd  Zaaacharias the link i was given for part065.

If anyone else needs it just pm me.

the out of sync issue in the pal version starts roughly at the start of the Rebel attack on the death star and goes on untill the end of the movie ...amusingly its only the movie thats out of sync --- the  clips that are inserted have no problems.

which isnt a problem for me.

Return of the Jedi - The Spence Final Cut (Released)
Time

I've only ever uploaded 1 10min video to utube so not much experience with these issues....i've suspected my isp throttles the download speed as its much quicker after midnight and i dont think its because there are less people online then ...so could be something similar for uploading too...

but if they limit upload speeds from 7 - 56kb emails would take ages to send too? unless the size of the file being uploaded triggers the throttling.... also a large file is more susceptible to corruption if its only able to send tiny data packets at a time...

but anyway im babbling! Good luck we're all counting on you! :)

I don't want to say the whole world is waiting, but I just took this pic with my phone outside Cutnshut's house:

I think that "70mm" claim is a bit transparent. You better have a darn good projector. Who's up for the 10:30 show?

Now what am i supposed to say to all these people????......um i guess i'll have to put on Family Guy - Its a Trap! and do a runner!

hmm sorry Spence wish i could be more productive, i just don't know.....:(

edit: but then 56k is very much like a telephone connection speed.... are there upload rate settings u can change in which ever program ur using? ...but if u and dan use the same program....well, im all out of ideas! (ric olie line from alien3!  :)

Download and install a free program called quickpar. once installed click on one of the star wars begins par files (make sure that they are in the same directory as the rar files) It will now automatically scan the files . once the scan is complete just click repair (unless automatic repair is already ticked then it will do it automatically once the scan is complete)

Thanks for that Adywan, ive followed your instructions but there doesnt seem to be anything to repair. There just isnt the download location for SWB_FINAL.part065.rar within the original DLC file..

edit: problem solved! (phew) Thanks Elbarto!

y u no ask there?

I tried registering once at FE but all i can remember is that it was a painfull process and didnt get very far. So i thought id mention it here incase anyone who was already a member could pass on a message...

But.... i did go back to FE just now and try again and they've simplified the registering process, so i shall contact them and let them know.....

or i can download the NTSC version when its available as I live in the UK and can watch PAL or NTSC hehe! :p

(im not trying to rub it in honestly!)

According to AvP, you should try using the par files to fix the problem.

ok could you be a bit more specific? like what i do with the par file to fix it - ive never edited these things before and i presume thats what you mean?

or alternatively if anyone could send me the link to the (PAL version): SWB_FINAL.part065.rar

that would be cool)

Edit: my login at fanedit.info still doesnt work so i cant contact anyone there for help - sorry.
