Thats ok it didnt stop him from sending me a friend request - haha!

The only thing i dont like about achievements is i cant remove the games i dont like anymore - someone might look at my list and and think that ive got a lot of RPG's on the go, but truth is ive tried a lot - got a few achievements for each one and taken them back to the store to swap for something else!!

For you guys that play Halo - what does the exp they award for mulitplayer do? does it increase your health or shields? - as a noob does that mean im very unlikely to kill someone who's higher level? or is the amount of health and power of the weapons stay the same? that was really annoying in Battlefield Bad Company 2... (i think)

When i play mulitplayer i want everyone to be on the same level and just your skill at playing the game makes you good or bad.

Hope you understood what i was trying to ask? im sure there was a shorter way i could have worded that but its near the end of the day!...

Star Wars Episode II: The Galaxy Divided (The Brash Cut) - CANCELLED

This is actually the line I struggled with most in writing the crawl as it sounds a bit clunky. It's still a work in progress and a loooong way to being finalised, but seceded means to seperate from.

My reasoning was so that it would be clear that they were part of the republic previously.

I'll probably remove the "seceded from and" so that it just reads "several thousand star systems have declared their intentions to overthrow the republic"

Hmm just leave it as you have it, I see now without seceded in it - you lose the sense of chunks of the republic breaking up.

Wish i could view utube at work grrrrrrrrrrr

Space War, Hyperspace, Fuel, etc... How it all works (or doesn't)

Yeah, it seems that Star Wars and the OT doesn't really show us "War between two roughly equal forces".  It's more "hit and fade" guerilla tactics by the rebels.  The Empire acts more like an over agressive Space Police Force looking for lawbreakers/protecting against terrorists.

The rebels only survive because the Empire never knows who/where they are.

In that way, it is similar to the current War on Terror.  If the Americans, with their superior forces and technology, knew who and where all of the top terrorists were... the War would be over tonight.  Hiding your top men is always a priority in war... but in WWII for example, the Axis were reasonably sure where the American and British leaders of state were at all times, and until the end of the war, we had a pretty good idea where Hitler was.  At the very least, WE KNEW WHERE GERMANY, ITALY and JAPAN WERE.

We met openly on the battlefield...  That kind of thing.  But that campaign, despite the presence and dominance of air power, was conducted on a 2D plane- You could form a blockade on the ground or the water- in cities, roads or whathaveyou, and be reasonably sure that you would intercept your enemy there if they wanted to pass.  A few soldiers may sneak past the blockade, but certainly not the entire army...  The army was loud, slow and large, so it was easy to spot.

In space, the army is roughly the same size but the warground is infinitely larger.  And since the travel is essentially fast, practically invisible (hyperspace) and not limited to any 2D planes... it seems you couldn't set up any kind of blockade that would be effective at all.  That means you couldn't stop the enemy forces at a place of your choosing... that means that they would probably drag right up to your HQ and try to take you out.  No "front" that has to be pushed forwards or backwards until you reach the ultimate goal... just jump to lightspeed and arrive at your ultimate goal.

So, the guerilla tactics in the OT seem to make sense- the rebels are hiding- therefore the Empire can't wipe them out...  The Empire is numerous- therefore the smaller rebel force can't take them out directly.  So they identify key targets (DS, DSII, whatever) come from hiding long enough to destroy it and cause financial setbacks, human loss, and morale loss.

I'm obviously still just having this conversation with my self... so I guess I will stop there.  :)

George Lucas and Nathan Hale (or whoever...) should have read this before writing the Phantom Menace!!

Edit: Infact why didnt you email them this sometime around 1995 - it could all be your fault the prequels arent very good!

On a different note...

"The galaxy is divided. Several thousand star systems have seceded from, and declared their intentions to overthrow, the Republic." ...

what does seceded mean? not sure if its in the original crawl or not but i hate that word...:(

The galaxy is divided. Several thousand star systems have declared their intentions to overthrow the Republic.

The galaxy is divided. Several thousand star systems have withdrawn from the Republic and declared their:

rebellious intentions to undermine it.

Intentions to overthrow it

Intentions to destroy it.

or something.....

Not to knock what you've done Brash!

Gah!  You only have 500 achievement points.  I'm sorry, but it's a little beneath me to accept your friendship.

Ah so thats what that number in the top left of the screen is, I thought it was how much xbox points i had - I was trying to buy something the other day and it said only 250 and thought i had been robbed.

Tho i have noticed the the number has risen from 465 since the start of the week - I got a few achievements in Halo ODST and Alan Wake.

And hey, i've not had my xbox very long!

Sooooo there :p

Edit: My mistake sorry if i confused - the achievement points are shown on the top right of my screen not the left as i originally stated. Apologies to all those i may have offended.

Also, the Monkey Island 2 trailer out of E3 was pretty cool.

Holy crap, we never talked about E3 here!!!  Any comments?

I'm still interested in the Kinect (Natal), but most of the games they showed didn't really wow me.  The hardware is cool and ripe with potential... hopefully something comes out that will really knock it out of the park.  I'm hoping it gets mainstream acceptance enough that "regular" games will start using it for head tracking.  That's my biggest hope for it.

A-ha E3...not heard much apart from seeing a few seconds of the Terminatrix/Jayne Pain whatever her name is posing infront of a wall covered in dodgy xbox wallpaper. I'd vote for her :)

Shadow Complex was definitely good.  I think that genre is not necessarily for everyone... but you probably already know if it's up your alley or not.

There's a decent demo.  It'll give you a good idea of the game.

Sorry me again... ill be quiet soon, I googled some screenshots on Shadow Complex and that might be my next purchase - thanks for sharing that!

Some of the Arcade games seem better than the full price big budget ones!! wow!

Seems MOD2 is a fairly common abbreviation, but I just don't get it. What would MOD2 even stand for? Modern of Duty 2? MODern warfare 2? I just don't understand the logic in that shorthand.

This isn't directed as a complaint at you cutnshut, I am just pondering it, because through google I see it is used quite often and I can't quite get my brain around it.

MODern warfare 2....geez is it that hard??? :p

anyway, im thinking MW2/MOD2 would be cool to make a squad in and good practice for me :) im such a noob!

but yeah the time difference might be an issue, maybe from now on you could change your clocks to british time and that would solve all our problems :) I dont care if that means getting up to go to work when everyone else is just going to bed!! not an excuse i think. :p

I think MW2 is the accepted 'hardcore' reference for MOD2.  Or COD:MW2 to be painfully clear.

I'd be happy to play some ODST with you as well.  Especially if we could set up a Firefight game with C3PX.  What's your gamertag so we can add you?

Also, you're about 7 hours ahead of me.  So... how would that work, exactly.

(And thanks for picking up an avatar... makes all the difference, and now we don't have to beat you with licensed lightsabre replicas and throw you into our nearly fully grown sarlaac pit...)

I say Mooooooo to MW2 its MOD2 ya  heaar me??? !!!

as in MODern combat 2....... naa just joking as long as we all know what game we're talking about eh?

phew so i got the pic up just in time then - i know how it feels to get hit by those things, my sister used to beat me up all the time with my own one :(

So im guessing it doesnt take 1000 years for a not fully grown sarlac to digest me??? anything less than 100 years and u gotta ask yourself whats the point???
