Help Wanted: Knight Rider restoration

Glad you like the Knight Rider fixes. I feel I’m so close to a complete definitive collection. Just need to try and try down the elusive stereo soundtracks to “Knight of the Juggernaut” and “Burial Ground”.

Regarding the A-team, although I’m not in a position to tackle the whole thing at the moment, I could sort out the pilot, but would need a good copy of the missing scene from somewhere. I can see from above it was released on VHS a while back, but has it been on any of the DVDs? Country of origin wouldn’t matter, or even the language. Sound tends to be a lot easier to patch than visuals,so getting a good visual source would be the first hurdle.
They are showing the A-team in the UK at the moment, but the channel quality is not great (no HD and heavy compression) but I will see what version of the pilot they show, if they start from the beginning again after the current run finishes (they’re on season 5 at the moment and it’s on 5 days a week).

I am not 100% sure if the missing scene in the A-Team pilot has ever been released on DVD. I will try to find that out by researching releases. I’ve only owned the US Season 1 set that had the pilot and it was cut. It would be nice to have a good looking source, better than VHS anyway… but could prove hard to find. I am going to see what I can do and find out. I am going to look all DVD releases and digital versions up to find out if we can get a matching quality (or pretty close) source. I’ll write back asap.

Ok great. I will help as much as I can when you are ready. A-Team is in my top favorite tv shows and I hope one day we can see them all uncut and original. 👍 The cut Murdock scene on the pilot is definitely the most important fix we need. I believe that is the only missing scene on the blu ray set. The music fixes is important as well, but I’d want the missing scene fixed first.

PS: Thanx for all your hard work on Knight Rider, that is also a favorite of mine.

I was researching edits to the A-TEAM series and a user named jeremy223 compiled a list of the changes as follows:

SEASON 1
Mexican Slayride: “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” has been replaced with new music and footage of Murdock singing along has been cut. Columbia House VHS has this scene intact.
The Columbia House DVD spanish soundtrack plays “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, but the scene with Murdock singing along is still missing.

A Small and Deadly War: A scene with Murdock singing “Satisfaction” has been cut. Columbia House VHS, Itunes, VUDU, and Google Play have this scene intact.

SEASON 2
When You Comin’ Back , Range Rider?: Part of Hannibal’s dialog is cut. In the line “Now you tell Mr. Carter he’s out of the rustling business.” all words are missing except rustling business. This scene is intact on Netflix.

SEASON 3
Cup A’ Joe: The song “Cheeseburger in Paradise” has been removed.
Beverly Hills Assault: The songs “The Heat is On” and “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” have been replaced with new music. “The Heat is On” can be found intact on VUDU and Google Play.

SEASON 4
Teasers are missing from several episodes. The missing teasers can be found on Netflix and Amazon digital downloads.

SEASON 5
No changes that I know of.

Keep in mind that this was compiled before the Blu-ray release and some may be fixed, but I checked the pilot and it still has Murdock singing cut out with replacement music instead of “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” as intended. I believe most of these are still edited even on the Blu-ray.

Idea & Info: 'Friday the 13th' - Original Sound Mixes
Time

I personally would love it captured for sake of it being a unique mix. I like the mix, sure it has issues but I do like it. Original mono is best imo tho. And to be honest, I don’t know if the THX is different in any way. I haven’t owned it or heard it. I believe it is the same… but that is an uneducated guess. And speaking of the original mono track… is that available anywhere in higher quality than DVD?

I see. I appreciate your willingness to capture LD audio for me. Obviously I wouldn’t expect you to do it for free. I’m sure we could come to some sort of an arrangement. First I’d need to find the right discs of course. That will be the biggest challenge. I just want better quality than DVD lossy audio. I actually have a sealed Nightmare On Elm Street 2 LD. That would be interesting to capture… I just don’t want to open it. Haha I also have both Grease and Grease 2 sealed on LD as well. Too bad the Grease track is so complicated or I’d loan that for sakes of preservation. I have a sealed Ghostbusters, Barbarella, Rocky Horror Picture Show and others. Come to think of it… That Rocky Horror LD has a unique mix on it. That would be awesome to have captured too.

Hi, Guys. I wanted to ask all you smarties what we can do to preserve all the Friday the 13th original sound mixes in a lossless format? I know Laserdisc is the best option for 6, 7, 8, and 9. But what about 1-5 in MONO? I just imported the German Blu-Ray mediabooks and they are better looking picture quality wise than even the US BDs. Only problem is… NO ORIGINAL SOUND MIXES!!! I’m sorry, but to Hell with remixes. I don’t do them unless I have to. I currently sync the original mono tracks from the deluxe DVDs to my BD copies to watch… but I want better quality sound than DVD.

I only have the MGM BD and Shout! BD for The Return of the Living Dead. Was gonna import the UK Second Sight UK BD for the OG cinematic audio in lossless. Always seems like it’s quite expensive.
Glad someone wants to take the better image from the SHOUT and then put the OG cinematic track with it.
Would make a loverly BD25.

Yes that is the plan. Waiting to either brush up on my editing or someone else to accept the job. Haha

Hey, Guys! Nice to hear from you. I own both the Second Sight UK BD (has complete original unaltered soundtrack in PCM form) and the newest Shout Factory BD that looks much better. It has more information in the picture and is nicely cleaned up. I could provide the BDs if need be. Let me know.

PS: ray_afraid: Hey, long time no see, eh? haha

Ok… so idk if anyone else noticed or not but the recent ROTLD BD from Shout Factory has it’s end credits edited to match the replacement song they couldn’t aquire for this release. The song in question is The Damn - “Dead Beat Dance” and the song they replaced it with is The Straw Dogs - “Young, Fast Iranians”. It wouldn’t be such a big deal but the thing is… the new BD looks fantastic and has better framing than the previous releases and less damage and just more detail thanks to the new scan. The UK Second Sight BD looks great but is not as nice looking and has too much chopped off in terms of framing. However, it does include the complete original soundtrack in PCM. Anyone here interested in fixing the end credits on the SF BD? I have both the SF and SS UK BD and between them both it could easily be fixed by someone who knows what they’re doing. I am not quite that advanced in editing or I’d do it myself.
