So you’re saying you’re disingenuous and/or inauthentic? 😉

I know you put a smiley face in but I’ll take the question seriously anyway.

No.

I’m saying that I have responsibilities as a mod there that I don’t have as a member here, and so I moderate (ha) my responses to match my responsibilities there.

But before you were a mod there you weren’t as sarcastic as you are here?

Cheers, Frink - for clarity I wasn’t sure if you (and chyron) were referring to the mods here - or to your position as a mod on a different site.

The ‘hahahaha’ left it somewhat unclear - which is why we ask for some more information / reasons / opinions in posts instead of just the ‘hahahaha’ type aspect.

Just waiting for chyron’s response.

Edit - this was posted before Frink’s ‘insane’ post above.

I wasn’t saying he’s insane. I was saying he’s… a bit flippant round these parts, suggesting he likely is elsewhere, and if so such flippancy is worthy of becoming a mod at FE, which would be an odd choice.

You worded it quite poorly then.

I’m proud to have been consistently confrontational.

And yet they thought you sane enough to make you a mod over at FE apparently.

Such things are not new for me.

But you have to admit, your brand of humor can come off as a bit of a nut (meaning silly). I mean, your Ridiculous series is somewhat evidence of that.

In other words, it was a small gibe. It was not an attack. Maybe the word “sane” is a bit strong, but it was meant in jest, not maliciously.

It is a response to the post directly above it. or are you missing something more than that?

“Congragulations” is not a word. I thought the typo was funny.

You know, you don’t have to be combative.

Also: y’all should use Macs.

If you’re into graphic design or video editing, sure. I am not.

Apple products are, by and large, overpriced and heavily restrictive. Sure, you can install Bootcamp on a Mac and run Windows, but isn’t that defeating the purpose? The advantage of a PC is if I want to fix or upgrade a part, I can open my box and upgrade it. Like adult Legos. If a part on a Mac breaks, it’s time to buy a new Mac.

Also, I can not stand iOS. My dad gave me an old iPad when he upgraded to a newer model once upon a time, and I almost immediately was compelled to jailbreak it. Seriously—you can’t even do something as simple as change the app icon titles on the home screen, or give the folders actually interesting looking icons. Among other things. It’s beyond frustrating to have to cope with vanilla iOS.

The primary advantage Apple has is the ability to dumb down their interface and simplify settings so a monkey can probably use it. But I want more flexibility in my software, so no thank you.

It is also among these reasons that Apple TV is only a tiny fraction of the streaming box market, since they waited until the recent Apple TV 4 before you could install apps from the Store that didn’t come stock on the device when you bought it. So if my dad wants his ATV2 to access his media server, he has to install certificates on the ATV and run a script on the server that lets the server hijack the Trailers app. It’s ridiculous.

Windows 95 was great, it set the framework for all future releases. It was Windows 98 that was kind of stunk, kind of a pointless OS. The way I see it is like this:

EARLY WINDOWS
Windows 1.0 - Bad
Windows 2.0 - Better
Windows 3.0 - Good
Windows 3.1x - Great
MODERN WINDOWS
Windows 95 - Great
Windows 98 - Bad
Windows 98SE - Good
Windows ME - Awful || Windows 2000 - Great
Windows XP - Great
Windows Vista - Awful
Windows 7 - Great
Windows 8 - Awful
Windows 8.1 - Okay
Windows 10 - Bad

Wait, why is this in this thread…?

You left out NT.

C’mon man…

So you’re saying you’re the hip black guy and I’m the nerdy white guy? Dangit! I wanted to be Winston!

Given that Ray was duped into getting 3 high-interest, variable-rate mortgages on his mother’s house so that he could purchase a condemned building and a near-broken-down hearse, I’m not sure anyone would want to be Ray.

What if I’m 10 and she’s 38, and my parents are 38?

Technically possible with modern science (and one or more evil scientists).

It takes modern science to be a ten year year old with 38 year old parents?

True. Perhaps modern science can instead help me with my poor eye-sight and/or poor attention-skills that led me to misread what Frink said as “What if I’m 10 and she’s 38, and her parents are 38?”.

That would be impossible. I fail to see how science could make that possible.

Three test-tube babies are born in the same year. One of them is the genetic child of the other two. They’d all hit 38 in the same year.

I didn’t know they could do that.

Evil Scientists can do anything!

Except cure incompetence.

What I first read.

Because Windows Vista is considered a particularly bad operating system in tech circles. And he can’t move because he’s scared, I guess.

I would think Windows 8 would fit more here.

8 wasn’t out yet.

Also, the general consensus is every other Windows OS sucks. 95 sucked; 98(SE) was good; Millennium sucked; XP was good; Vista sucked; 7 was good; 8 sucked; 10 is good.

But of those, Millennium and Vista are particularly bad. 8’s UI might have been horrible, but Millennium and Vista were resource hogs and frequently unstable.

Windows 95 sucked?

4 words: Blue. Screen. of Death.

I also don’t remember Vista sucking, but that is probably because I never used it, I went right from XP to Windows 7

There is a reason for that. Vista was basically what amounts to a retail open beta for 7. That’s not an exaggeration. I’ve read articles detailing the development history of why Vista is objectively broken and extremely similar to 7.

Happened to 9?

Word is that Microsoft wanted to distance 10 from 8. They didn’t want people to assume 10 was the next logical step from 8, but a new idea entirely, so they skipped 9. Apparently the #'s “7”, “8” and “10” don’t mean anything. They’re just numerical names akin to using “XP”.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 - controversy thoughts?
Time

I don’t know. Back in the day, we had expansion packs. StarCraft had Brood War. Diablo II had Lord of Destruction. Star Wars:Tie Fighter had Defender of the Empire. With the advent of downloadable digital content, expansions can be smaller, cheaper, and more frequent. I don’t see the problem with (story) DLC in general, as it seems to me it’s an inevitable extension of full-blown retail expansion packs.

In fact, I don’t have problems with the pay-to-unlock outfits in Breath of the Wild so much as the fact that they are locked behind acquiring rare and expensive, limited-run physical merch (amiibos) to obtain them ingame. None of them have the best armor rating, and none are dyeable (whereas the Armor of the Wild does and is.)

It’s the fact that EA is milking it for all its worth that’s upsetting.

Now today I have to pay to get content in the new Zelda game.

I don’t think Zelda is a fair comparison. To me, that’s like saying Dawnguard should have been released for free for Skyrim back when it was first released. And Breath of the Wild’s Normal Mode is already so much of a bigger game than any other Zelda that has a Hero Mode. Not to mention only half of the DLC has as yet been released, so an (optional) extra 20 bucks to extend BotW gameplay may very well be worth it.

Nintendo is not EA. They don’t force you to buy story-critical DLC in one game in a series in order for the prologue in the next game to make sense (see: Mass Effect 2: Arrival.)
