YouTube takes further action against Logan Paul, suspends all ads on channel

YouTube is suspending ads on all of Logan Paul’s videos after the personality uploaded a series of recent and offensive vlogs encouraging bad behavior.

This is a bigger consequence for Paul than YouTube’s first punishment, which simply was to remove Paul from Google Preferred, the company’s top-tier ad group for creators. Now, Paul will not profit from advertising on any of his videos for the time being.

A YouTube representative told Polygon it wasn’t a decision the company made lightly, but YouTube believes his entire channel is unsuitable for advertisers.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul’s YouTube channels,” the representative said. “This is not a decision we made lightly. However, we believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.”

Paul became one of YouTube’s most notorious creators in January, after he faced global criticism for uploading a video that contained the body of a man who recently committed suicide. YouTube canceled all of Paul’s YouTube Red series as a result, and dropped him from the Google Preferred program.

Since returning to YouTube, Paul has encouraged people to participate in the TidePod challenge — a dangerous trend where people eat TidePod detergent packs and an activity that YouTube has taken strict action against — along with tasering dead rats and using inappropriate tags for his videos.

If Paul continues to promote content that YouTube finds harmful for the community, he could be dropped from YouTube’s Partner Program entirely, ensuring he will never receive ads on his videos again.

The company isn’t trying to tell creators which types of content they should be creating. YouTube is asking that all creators keep in mind that, if their content is monetized and it violates the company’s guidelines, they may lose access to monetization features entirely.

Last web series/tv show seen
Time

I watched the pilot episode of Altered Carbon. My dad was turned off because “it’s just too weird.” I didn’t like it either, but after some thought, I decided it was because there was no vested interest in the characters.

The main character is a super-soldier assassin anti-hero, in a future dystopia filled with who-cares-who-these-people-are, and he’s been hired by some rich dude who was (almost) assassinated but there’s no emotional investment in why it matters. The main character is really just looking into it because he has nothing better to do.

I read an article that lambasted critics for being turned off by the series and not bothering after the first few episodes. The writer of the article said they should have given the show a fair shake by hanging on for 10 or more episodes at least. But I don’t agree with that sentiment at all. First impressions are important, and time is a precious commodity. If you can’t capture my interest in the first few episodes, then you’re wasting my time that I could be using on something else that doesn’t take 7 hours (45 minutes x 10 episodes) of viewing time to maybe start piquing my interest.

I’m annoyed by Rogue One’s abrupt end, if you compare it to the rest of Star Wars. I wonder if that’s going to become a Anthology thing and Solo will also end sort of abruptly.

That’d be a weird tradition to have. Seems more like a result of the story Rogue One was telling.

It’s not inconceivable for Solo to end with Han landing at Mos Eisley or going into the cantina.

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

I saw a Youtube video that posited that Holdo calculated to hit the ships at the moment before the ship entered hyperspace, when the ship was travelling at relativistic speeds, and applies physics to it to explain why it makes sense (and yet sort of doesn’t).

Nerdist: The Physics Behind The Last Jedi’s Coolest Scene! (Because Science w/ Kyle Hill)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1M95njhovw

With regard to how it doesn’t makes sense, he says that if the math works out, her ship hitting the fleet at relativistic speeds should have atomized the entire fleet rather than merely breaking the ships in half.

Stained clothes are a trademark in my family, so I doubt they have any stain-removing knowledge in their databanks. And my friends are all in my head.

My mother-in-law has said you shouldn’t put stained clothes through the dryer because it makes it harder to get them out.

Try pouring a spot of liquid laundry detergent on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub at it with a brush (like one from your kitchen sink).

I also think I remember reading somewhere possibly using toothpaste, or club soda, or white vinegar.

How did you originally find this site?
Time

I came here originally because a user at the Telltale Games forums brought up Adywan’s ANH:R in the middle of a communal rant about George Lucas.

My first post, from August 2010, is on Ady’s ANH:R thread asking for help finding the Purist Edition.

I started posting/visiting more often, though still only sporadically, after Harmy’s release of SW:DE 2.0. When I really started being active was when I moved into Off-Topic some time early last year.

I don’t know who this is, but it looks like Lux Interior, singer for the Cramps and a personal hero.

Romulan senator, manipulated by Captain Sisko and Garak to dupe the Romulans into helping Starfleet fight the Dominion. He wasn’t himself successfully manipulated, but his subsequent death (by Garak) was suspicious enough to get the job done.

Sisko doesn’t like it at all. But… he can live with it.

Between that and Dom watching that xXx, we need a “Why Did You Watch/Read/Listento That?” thread.

Why do I need to say why I listened to it?

Can’t tell if serious.

Actually, I am. I imagine you’re just saying you don’t like it, but you didn’t listen to it. I did. I like rock and alternative music, and that album is pretty good. It’ not my all-time favorite or whatever, but I like it.

Why do people on live streams and on fourm sites including this one ask for mod.

I don’t have any idea what this means.

I am asking why do people ask for mod

This does not clarify things.

He wants to know why some people keep asking to be moderators (even though I’ve never seen this here).

See, I had no idea if he was asking why people ask to be a mod, or why people ask for a mod, and I’m still not convinced it’s the former. Or that it’s either of those two things at all.

I took it as saying they “ask for mod privileges”.
