We’d just finished May, faded spilling outside the black borders, so, so, very screwed.

If I remember right, June gives you some good stuff to help. No spoilers, though.

Our City Zero was Istanbul, and we did manage to keep COdA out of red and yellow. However, it did jump into Western Europe and freaked us out because it could have easily jumped from Madrid to North or South America.

Interested to hear more about Pandemic Legacy: Season 2. I’m in the middle of a multiplayer-logistics-stalled campaign of Season 1 and it’s fun and interesting (I hadn’t played any other “Legacy” games before), but I wouldn’t yet recommend it without some reservations. More importantly, what did you name your diseases? Inquiring minds.

We named the diseases after Star Wars characters based on saber colors. Yellow was Katarn, Red was Maul, Blue was Kenobi. We actually had our fourth player move away mid-season during Season 1, but our third player had a good setup for her to Skype in to play remotely. We enjoyed it enough that when I got Season 2, I hit them both up again to play it the same way. This means I’m having to scan all of the components (as they are revealed) and upload them to Google Drive in a shared folder so she can read everything. She said she’s going to get a copy for herself to use on her end, but that won’t help with seeing legacy cards and stickers on the board.

Yes, if you’re going to play Pandemic Legacy, you need everyone to commit to playing at least one game (which takes about 90 minutes) at least once every couple of weeks. Less frequently than that and you start to forget the storyline. We managed to get in an average of two games per session, and every week or week-and-a-half. At some point we all got so excited about what was coming next that we couldn’t wait to play again.

What month are you currently on?

(that’s me on the right.)

Anyone ever played Galaxy Trucker? I’ve only played it a few times but it was a complete riot. Fair warning: I think I may have a soft spot for audacious game design, regardless of how well it actually works out in practice.

I’ve only played the mobile app, and I didn’t enjoy it very much. I might have liked it better as the physical version, because at least then I’d be playing it with other people.

Ok fine. People want to be touchy about someone they never even met or had a single interaction with, someone they only know from the news or the internet or tv. I have never understood it and I never will. I usually never say it but I’m always thinking it. Today I’ve said it.

Now, Rogue, I am done.

They’re not being touchy. It’s just easier to experience life when one is around people who are pleasant. Life is already hard enough on its own, and keeping a positive outlook is the only way many people get by. Part of that is trying not to harbor spite and bitterness toward others, or trying to find the good in them.

Sure, we didn’t actually personally know the man, but that doesn’t mean we should default to judgment and suspicion about him. To automatically harbor ill feelings toward people would just make life harder than it already is.

I win again!

No.

Show the dead some respect.

I do.

Your sarcasm is not welcome in this instance, thanks.

In this instance?

Yes, in this instance.

Anyway if you don’t believe that I’m a ghost typing from the afterlife, that’s fine. People have refused to believe less fantastical stuff before.

Look, I know you’re bitter about something, but you could at least make an effort to be respectful toward others.

Who needs respect here?

The people in this thread. The people on this forum. It would be respectful toward them to not be flippant about the death of someone whom they respect. You don’t have to personally respect Billy Graham, but you could maybe respect _ender.

Only because I started playing SWGOH, but I see what you did there!

SWGOH? what is that?

A pay to win mobile game with a theme.

WYSHS

But it’s also not a board game, as is chess.

I play board games, but generally not chess. The main problems I have with with chess are how long it can take to play a round, and that there’s no theme. I like theme. Plus, I’m better at tactics than abstract strategy.

theme?

Yeah, it’s abstract, basically. I know the pieces have a designation and particular shape, but there’s no substance to the game beyond the gameplay itself. There’s nothing additional to immerse me in the experience or to make the game more interesting. If I want to pretend I’m on a battlefield or whatever, I have to do that all myself. The game provides nothing additional for me in aiding or fueling my imagination, and no story by which to become invested in any characters.

But back to chess… I don’t like it both because it’s abstract and because I’m terrible at it. The fact that it often takes too long to play just makes it that much less appealing for me. I know being bad at a game makes one very unlikely to enjoy it, but that thing they do on shows and movies where these two old men have been playing the same round of chess for umpteen months or years just makes me roll my eyes at how boring that sounds.

You’re missing the part where you do it a ton more than anyone else.

How many times is a ton? If you’re saying I’ve done it 20 times, I really doubt that. Maybe 6 or 7. At most. But if other people have done it twice and I’ve done it half a dozen more times, in the span of months, that’s not a ton.

In any case, I will officially now do it sparingly. But I still encourage increased vocabulary skills.

Next time chyron dictionsplains something he gets a one week ban, all in favor say “I.”

Are you saying that I overexplained, or underexplained, or that it should have been obvious I didn’t need to? Because if one thinks chess actually has any more theme than what is slightly pasted on, I beg to differ. Yes it has more theme than othello or mancala, but not much, and you literally could change the theme of chess to anything else and not break immersion in the game. Hence “pasted on.”

I didn’t even read your post. I just saw that you used a dictionary definition in an argument for the nth time.

Because other people (including yourself) don’t do that?

For the nth time?

I’m sure I’ve done it once or twice but I can’t remember the last time, I’ll bet it’s been months if not longer.

Anyway saying other people do it is a terrible defense.

Saying I can’t when other people do is a terrible excuse. And saying I do it all the time obviously has no concept of how often I post without doing that. “nth” time out of how long?

I suppose you just enjoy being dismissive, and will grasp at any excuse. But you already said as much.

Also, I wouldn’t dictionsplain words if you actually knew what they meant.

I.

Don’t go all Trump-supporter on me then and disregard my preference for something that you don’t actually know what it means or seemingly what you’re talking about.

You should know imagination or abstraction is not the same as theme.

I understand the desire for a theme

you do?

Theme, meaning like a setting or a story or something like that, added to make the game not simply abstract gameplay.

like imagining two armies are battling each other?

No, because you’re adding that theme with your imagination alone.

ab·stract
adjective
abˈstrakt,ˈabˌstrakt/

  1. existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence.

I’m talking about art and story that exists in the game itself.

Like this:
