I did feel there was one place that went a little too far, which was the snowspeeder count. In the clip we see, at least, there's a very clear count of four speeders (save for the "Echo Station Fox Seven" shot), and it further emphasizes the impressiveness of the fight by showing how under-equipped and inventive the Rebellion is. With the additional speeders, whom we do not see during that fight, some of that impressiveness is lost for the sake of one shot. If there are more speeders for the sake of continuity that I'm unaware of, I'm not sure it would really be that many.

There are a lot more than just 4 snowspeeders shown throughout the battle in the official version.

The first shot we see ("Echo station 5-7, we're on our way.) , we see 5 snowspeeders flying alongside Luke, then it cuts to the shot of only 4 speeders, then cuts to 9 speeders flying overhead of the troops in the trenches. Then, when Luke first reaches the walkers we see 3 speeders, with one going to the opposite side of the AT-At then cuts to 4 speeders flying past the walker. So it shows that they have split into groups and in that shot alone there were at least 5 on screen. But if there was only supposed to be 4 speeders throughout the whole battle then there must be killed pilots/ speeders coming back to life:-

First one killed is just before Dak gets killed. We see a speeder shot down behind Luke in the cockpit shot when Luke says "Just hang on. Hang on Dak", so that would leave 3; Luke, Wedge and Red 2, but we know that there is another pilot left at least - Hobbie. Later on , just after R2 is loaded into Luke's X-Wing, we see a speeder going down with heavy smoke trailing it behind the walkers. But we know that all the pilots i mentioned are still alive after this scene, so that means more speeders.

There are 6 in the first shot (other than Luke, which would make 7). Initially there are 4 to the right of the frame and 1 that can only partially be seen on the left (between his helmet and a strut). Then 1 more speeder flies down into the frame after a second or two.

Also, keep in mind that this shot only shows out of Luke's left cockpit window. There are surely more on his right (considering he's Rogue Leader).

I agree tha the CG-ness of the binoculars shot is pretty much gone. However, I wonder how much it might improve by having particles of snow moving on the foot's impact.

Then again, I don't recall what the AT-AT foot impacts did to the snow during the scene where Luke's snowspeeder was squashed.

The binoculars scene looked somewhat off. Maybe it's that the new CGI AT-ATs do not have the characteristic wobble/swaying of the actuals models, or it looks too pristine? [...]

Which is strange, as the CGI is otherwise seamlessly integrated and I'm having hard time distinguishing it from the physical models.

Maybe consider adding more grain to the black area (the binoculars), and slight camera/hand shake?

I have to say I agree with this. The CGI models elsewhere in the clip look absolutely fantastic and real. But the shot of the walkers through the electrobinoculars seems rather... obviously computer generated.

I think maybe the sequence is too smooth. Maybe if the image through the binoculars wobbled a bit or something...

Well, I have seen Q2's Fall of the Jedi fanedits, and I have decided that the prequels really aren't so bad. They're not not ZOMGFANTABULISTIC like the OOT, but they're really pretty good.

...so long as you watch the right fan edit. L8wrtr's Ep.2 edit is slightly better than Q2's Ep. 2, but his Ep 1 and Ep 3 edits are decidedly worse. You can't use L8wrtr's Ep. 2 with Q2's 1 and 3 though because Q2's has very different ideas on how to improve the prequels (such as removing the droids.)

So this shining-a-turd business about the prequels, for me, isn't quite so accurate. It would seem the underlying story isn't the part that's crap. It's just buried under bad acting by Jake Lloyd, whining by Hayden, eye-rolling anachronisms by 3PO, boring title crawls and poop jokesJar Jar Binks.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time

I've just now uploaded the NTSC DVD9 version to Myspleen, if anyone cares.

I made sure to change the .iso a bit (ie. I added a readme) so that the hash is decidedly not the same as on public torrents.

EDIT (next morning): So, I uploaded the NTSC DVD9 of this yesterday to Myspleen... and ALREADY Myspleen says it has been "snatched" (completed) 11 times. Sheesh.

Yes, I read that post:

CONTAINER: MKV

SIZE: 15.7GB

Just wasn't sure why it is so much larger than the Despecialized ESB and ROTJ.  I guess that's the right one then.

The 15.7 GB MKV is the 2.0 version. It just hasn't been converted to Bluray format for burning.

Myspleen also has the AVCHD and DVD5 versions, so pick what you want. I got the AVCHD because the rest of the trilogy (albeit only 1.0) is also AVCHD.

Suffice it to say that any version is good. But as has been said, 2.1 is coming out soon so be prepared to download again as it has lots of improvements over 2.0.

So, the "artist" was limited by problems. I can see the rough cut perspective.

No he wasn't. If you'd have asked George back then what he thought of people people who make changes to classic films, even so much as colorizing black & white films, he'd have said that such films are a part of our cultural heritage and should be allowed to remain as they originally were seen.

In fact, he did say this back then, because someone did ask him about it.

Just because he was the copyright holder, it doesn't make him any less of a retard for forgetting what his original vision even was.

His original vision wasn't to have Vader yell "No" during the climax of ROTJ, or else to make Greedo the worst shot in the universe. So I will never watch those changes again as long as I live, if I can avoid it.

.

And anyway, the real problem isn't the changes--it's the fact that he so hates fans of Star Wars that the only way he would release the OOT was in a degraded letterboxed format.

I always thought that if anyone should have had a purple lightsaber (ie. red+blue=purple) it should have been Dooku and not Mace Windu. This would have given meaning to the color of his lightsaber, but instead we just have Windu getting purple because Samuel L. Jackson asked for it, which is retarded and for no justifiable reason at all screws up the understanding that Jedi are blue or green and Sith are red.

The Fall of the Jedi Trilogy (Released)
Time

Yes. I downloaded it and uploaded to Youtube.  :)

I just wanted to show it to my parents on their AppleTV, and I dunno if it has Vimeo on it.

I love that trailer. I've shown it to my wife, and she was thoroughly impressed. I think it won her over to watching your fanedits (which I have seen, and find to be fantastic.)

About the covers, I just want to get some authentic-looking covers for your edits that match authentic-looking OT covers. That way I can have your PT edits, Adywan's SE's and Harmy's OOT, in what will be my ultimate, definitive Star Wars box set.

The issue really is trying to find a good, matching Episode III cover that doesn't have Vader on it.

idk what he's talking about.

Great job, Harmy. It looks a lot better.

btw, I want to apologize if it seems I'm picking at your work in Ady's ESB:R thread. For the record, your versions of these movies are the definitive versions of the OOT. I only pointed out to him something you might have overlooked in your 1.0 versions (and certainly Lucasfilm did for the Blurays).

I really love what you're doing. Keep it up!

All I know is that in this:

those red lights are a distraction. It should be obvious that the lights, especially the ones on the right on the right of the frame, should not be that bright. If you watch that scene, you will notice that your eyes are drawn to those lights above the snowtrooper.

This sort of thing happens all throughout the movie:

No, but there needs to be explanation of what happens. There can't just be this event in the movie where people who keep up with the EU know what happened and people who don't have no clue.

If he changes form suddenly, there should be an obvious reason why he changes. While the theatrical version creates continuity errors with other events in the saga, it at least can be understood for the viewer to know what just happened.

If he has a Palpatine form and a Sideous form, then it needs to be implemented so that even the casual, first-time viewer knows what is going on.
