Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971
Time

That confirms my suspicions. GF and TB SE DVDs come from their respective THX box sets. The others are straight from their home video telecines.

The color on GF looks great on the THX and SE, but maybe that's because I'm used to it. The Criterion color still seems off to me.

From what I know about the missing GF frames, I think it was first cut out by MGM for the THX box set.

The only way we will ever get perfect versions of the Bonds is if we obtain original IB prints of the films, and British ones for the first three.

Info & Idea: SERIOUS preservationists ONLY
Time

I looked forward to going to Star Tours my entire childhood. When I finally went to Disney World I made a beeline directly for it...and felt like a deflated balloon. It's just not that good of a ride. It was early in the technology and as a ride it really does nothing.

Ady got death threats? WTH?

I still vote for an ot.com convention in opposition to the official Celebration events. We could get together-and steal and burn the GOUT telecine. Wouldn't that be fun?

However, it may be difficult to physically produce random pics and gifs.

Favorite Star Wars Book?

Jedi Apprentice is fantastic. Shatterpoint is a nice departure from the general prequel crap.

The Han Solo Adventures are still the best to me. Closest to the escapist spirit of the films.

The Thrawn trilogy is a close second. Still great after all these years. I, Jedi is pretty good from what I remember. You can't go wrong with most of the Bantams. From the NJO on I just gave up. I've read numerous books since then and have officially just given up.

Other notables I can think of: Han Solo trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, X-Wing series, Courtship of Princess Leia, Jedi Academy Trilogy, Hand of Thrawn Duology, and some of the "Tales from" collections.

Making of Empire Strikes Back pushed back to October.

It's a telling thing when scholastic books (Jedi Apprentice) can be more interesting than newer EU books. You have to know an insane amount of background info to even have the slightest idea of what is going on. I can go up until midway through the Bantam tenure before I start to get really tired. There are a few books after that that are worthwhile, but those are a very few.

xhonzi-Try reading any of the original Rob MacGregor books and see if you like them. They can be found used for pretty cheap.

There's a new book to tie in with Indy IV called Army of the Dead but it wasn't very good.

What better way to bring back 70mm than striking new original prints of the theatrical version of Star Wars .

Can modern theaters simulate the original six track mag setup?  I thought everything was digital now.

You could if you used original equipment. Modern 70mm is done through (run away JediTemple!) DTS 70mm which is an easier way to recreate the original 6 track.

_______ shows their Star Wars DVD Collection

I can agree that ESB did take out some of the vastness of the SW universe. It doesn't lessen my opinion of the film.

What makes Temple work is the fact that it is different. It doesn't play it safe and thus is a perfect modern serial. Crusade is a rehashed Raiders that simply does not work. It is tired and uninspired except for Sean who is having a ball.
