I'll see if I can find that cue once I'm home...

Much appreciated, man! I've gone through the whole ANH soundtrack twice and can't find it for the life of me!

Also, is there a thread here about Goodmusician's tracks?

-question: is dooku a sith? rouge jedi? I can't remember...

Yeah, Dooku's a rogue Jedi. If you notice, I've put his unhappy reaction from Jango's beheading when Padme gets scratched by the Nexu.

-Padme's swing down to the nexu is better...I still would personally cut it altogether...it's a little too...bad ass...? she's starting to look too Jedi-like in her abilites... but maybe that's just me...

I'll have to see what I can do about getting rid of the swinging badassedness - I've always had a problem with it too. Thankfully this is before my inserted music, so won't affect the flow of things. Maybe I can cut it so that Anakin on the reek comes in the nick of time before the Nexu goes back up to finish her off.

I knew you'd pick up on that! Haven't you heard of a little thing called showmanship? ;)

sshhhhhhh.

Yes, I'm sure people "can't take" your razor sharp wit which is only further augmented by your eloquent grasp of the English language in your retaliation to a, clearly unprovoked, attack.

*sarcasm overload*

For some reason, I was convinced it was from the trench run music, but I can't for the life of me find the bugger!

I'm glad the arena scene is on the right track. When you have time, I'd be grateful for any suggestions/criticisms. I'm aware that some minor things still need sorting (such as Padme's apparently indestructable coccyx) and the sound, obviously, which will be quite time consuming.

I've found a few fanfilm pages that suggest that the jedi knight and phantom menace games are good sources for extracting clean sound effects, however judging by the age of the games, I'm guessing this advice is somewhat dated. I'm sure someone out there will have already done all the legwork and assembled a complete, high quality library of sounds. I just need to find the right one. Any help is appreciated.

I'm also wondering what people think of one of my favourite cuts. When Padme swings down to knock the Nexu off the pole. I've trimmed lots of it where she frankly took an implausible amount of time to descend and in the close up shot it actually looked like she was just running along the ground while swaying slowly back and forth. It's more sudden now. More jarring to those who are used to the (fake) way it was before, but I think it works. Feel free to correct me if you disagree. I won't be offended. :)

I'll certainly look into it.

In order for rescoring the battle to work properly (without ramping up the volume of the added track to drown out the old one- a bit of a copout and would make for an unbalanced sounding movie) I'm going to have to rebuild the sound effects as they appear, only without the music.

Still, for the purposes of a youtube video, I think I should have ramped up the music in this case, just to demonstrate better. I may reupload.

In order to achieve what I want, I'm going to need a Star Wars sound effects library. For dialogue (which is thankfully only one line) I'll have to make do with what I've already got, but an Anakin soundboard being released by starwars.com soon would be useful.  When they do, I imagine "you call this a diplomatic solution?" will be amongst the sounds, judging by the fact that Padme's soundboard already has the "agressive negotiations" response.

Anyway. Does anyone know of any good Star Wars sound effects libraries for download? I'm talking the usual fare - lightsaber ignite, lightsaber retract, lightsaber idle, lightsaber swing, lightsaber deflect, different laser blasts, explosions etc etc. Maybe even some non star wars scifi sounds too.

Also, SSWR, I still can't for the life of me find that cue that you end the battle with (after dooku points his finger to stop the droids)

There are a couple of tracks from KOTOR2 I might be using for the clone reveal on Kamino and the final clone army shots before the end credits.

They're titled 'Czerka Site' and 'Onderon Battle'.

I'm currently uploading a rough arena clip. It needs a lot of work with the sound, and locating a cue for the end is like finding a fart in a jacuzzi. Help me SSWR! You're my only hope.

I kid, Angel. Love ya, bro! ;)

If only! If I found out how to perform Angel's sorcery, I'd run down my street naked singing "I've got a golden ticket".

And obv, with said powers I'd be able to photoshop real life, and make myself incredibly well endowed.

I did actually have a look at that link when you posted it in another topic. I don't want to seem like I'm shooting down your idea (as lord knows I need all the ideas people can give me) but in my opinion, the music in The Clone Wars is too high pitched and cartoony for use in my edit.

But I appreciate the idea, and urge you to keep them coming!

That makes sense, however, even though it looks kind of stupid, I really like how that bit has turned out in regards to the accompanying music. I've used the same ROTJ music as you used in your mockup, SSWR, but it's timed differently, as my version starts off with a different fanfare. Once I have a more complete version, I'll post it so you can see what I mean.

Also, you say you had help from goodmusician for the music clip in the arena. May I ask what the song is? Is it from Star Wars in any way?

Agreed. I'm intending to eliminate as much reused music from TPM as possible. Either taking them from entirely new sources, or creating them from original OT tracks.

Having said that, I have used the force fanfare from The opening battle of TPM in the Geonosis battle. But only because it works so well for my purposes. You'll see what I mean when I post a clip. You'll also see that I've shamelessly stolen a lot of ideas from SSWR :P

Hey Ady..do you use the soundboards on the official site?

He's mentioned that he does pull sounds from there wherever possible, mostly for FX, not so much for dialogue, I imagine.

How does he extract the sounds for use in his edit? I've tried a couple of programs and the sound files don't show up in them. Or does he simple record with a program like Audacity?

they are in your temporary internet files

I meant extracting the neat MP3s from the swf files rather than recording them with a sound program like Audacity.

you dont have to extract any MP3's the MP3's are in your temporary internet files AS MP3's

Are you sure? I have played most of the audio clips on the soundboard and there are no mp3 files in my temp internet folder. And after doing an extensive search, there are no mp3's on my C drive at all.

I was skeptical of this too, and can't find any mp3s either. I'd wager that fish is mistaken. When you're playing something in flash, it's just an swf file. That's the entire point of flash, everything (sounds, video, pics) is integrated.

Could work, DuTwan. I'll certainly look into it!

I'm currently rescoring the arena battle with different music. That battle is so dull and needs some serious livening up. I'm trying to keep the music fairly original by combining parts from different songs (all from the movies).

I'm also toying with the idea of using parts from videogame music - mainly Knights of the Old Republic and The Force Unleashed. The former wasn't recorded by an orchestra, but I'm wondering whether this would be obvious to anyone.

Thoughts?
